The New Lamborghini Revuelto Has 2 Years Of Orders

The Lamborghini Revuelto, a groundbreaking V12 plug-in hybrid supercar, is attracting attention not only for its exceptional performance but also for the revolutionary shift it represents in manufacturing processes. The production of the Revuelto is managed by the innovative system called Manifattura Lamborghini Next Level, marking a significant advancement for Automobili Lamborghini and transforming the way luxury vehicles are made.

Despite being launched just a few months ago, the Revuelto has already received orders that will fill two years of production, underlining the immense success of this high-performance electrified vehicle (HPEV). However, it’s not just the vehicle itself that is redefining innovation; it is also the advanced manufacturing processes implemented through the Manifattura Lamborghini Next Level system.

This high-tech manufacturing approach, known as “Manifattura 4.0,” combines human craftsmanship with cutting-edge automation in a harmonious way. As Ranieri Niccoli, Chief Manufacturing Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, stated, this system ensures that humans remain at the center of production while integrating complex, technology-driven processes.

The MES (Manufacturing Executive System), Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), and collaborative robots, known as “cobots,” are the key components of the Manifattura 4.0 innovation. The MES supports operators throughout the production process, while cobots perform repetitive tasks with exceptional precision. The AGVs, in collaboration with the workforce, transport materials for car assembly. This combination of technology and craftsmanship aims to improve production speed and minimize errors.

One of the remarkable features of the Revuelto is its extensive use of carbon fiber, carefully crafted at Lamborghini’s CFK plant in Sant’Agata Bolognese. The increased utilization of carbon fiber has enabled a transformative combination of lightweight construction and high power. The company has invested $166 million in upgrading its facilities and has employed 500 dedicated production operators to support this game-changing vehicle.

The Revuelto is not just a high-performance car; it represents the future of automotive production, seamlessly integrating human skill and advanced technology. With its 1,001-horsepower powertrain, groundbreaking aerodynamics, and innovative carbon fiber chassis, the Revuelto embodies Lamborghini’s ambitious Direzione Cor Tauri project.

Lamborghini is setting the pace for the entire super sports car market with this milestone. The success of the Revuelto sets the stage for Lamborghini’s plan to hybridize its entire model range by 2024 and introduce its first fully electric model by 2028. As the Revuelto speeds off the production line, it is clear that it is more than just a car – it is a symbol of Lamborghini’s dedication to innovation, sustainability, and an electrifying future.

First drive: Review of the Volkswagen Passat prototype

Volkswagen is working on two new petrol-electric plug-in hybrid (PHEV) drivetrains for the Passat prototype. These drivetrains use a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine combined with an electric motor mounted on the gearbox. The output varies between 201bhp and 268bhp. The battery size will also increase, around 26kWh, giving the car an electric range of 80 miles. Furthermore, the PHEVs will have faster AC and DC charging capabilities.

To start the car, you simply press the start button and place the gear controller in the ‘D’ position.

The interior of the new Passat has been updated, with a new interface and menu structure for the infotainment system. This makes the car easy to operate, and the quality of the interior has also improved.

The turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine provides good acceleration and performance, with flexible power delivery in the low to mid-range. The engine feels refined and smooth.

The seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox reacts quickly, giving the car a pleasingly long-legged feel at higher speeds. However, it may hesitate to downshift for more acceleration.

The steering is accurate and well-weighted, with better feedback than before. The suspension changes have improved the handling, adding agility and better body control. The new Passat is sharper and more enjoyable to drive compared to its predecessor. It is easy to handle and maneuver on the road, but it is not a sporty or athletic car.

The new Passat benefits from twin-valve dampers, which improve absorption and rebound properties. This results in a smoother ride, even on rough roads.

Although still in development, the first drive of the new Passat shows that it is already a better car than its popular predecessor. The changes made to the estate version ensure that it maintains the practicality and qualities that buyers expect and demand.

2024 Volkswagen Tiguan PHEV Seen Testing Under Discrete Camouflage

We now have a glimpse of the upcoming third-generation Volkswagen Tiguan, as spy shots reveal the plug-in hybrid version of the SUV in both left- and right-hand drive setups.

The Tiguan PHEV bears a striking resemblance to other variants of the new model. The charging port is conveniently located on the driver’s side front fender. The front end features a wide fascia with chrome elements shaped like brackets on the outer edges. Volkswagen has cleverly disguised the upper grille using decals, and the headlights have distinctive rectangular lamps.

New 2024 Ferrari SF90 XX: A Powerful Racer for the Road

The 2024 Ferrari SF90 XX is a plug-in hybrid flagship that incorporates all the technical features typically found in a track-only XX car, according to Enrico Galliera, the marketing and commercial head of Ferrari. The car includes the lightest seats ever fitted in a Ferrari, resulting in a 10kg weight reduction compared to the conventional SF90 Stradale. The SF90 XX Spider weighs 1660kg.

Ferrari hasn’t revealed the lap time achieved by the SF90 XX around Fiorano, but Galliera stated that the performance improvement compared to the regular SF90 is substantial. As a result, Ferrari plans to hold a dedicated announcement event later this year. The regular SF90 currently holds the record for road cars at the circuit, completing a lap in 1:19.00.

The starting price for the SF90 XX was €770,000 (£660,000) for the Stradale coupe and €850,000 (£730,000) for the Spider. However, all 1398 units (799 Stradales and 599 Spiders) have already been sold to Ferrari’s most loyal clients. Deliveries of the Stradale will begin in the second quarter of 2024, followed by the Spider in the final quarter of next year.

SF90 XX: A Surprise Addition

Ferrari originally did not plan to develop a more focused version of the SF90, as they believed they had already pushed the limits of available technology during its development. According to Galliera, it typically takes a year to develop a new product, and the same was true for this car.

He stated, “The project was even more complex than usual because when we conceived the SF90, we didn’t anticipate creating an evolution of it. That’s why we call it a supercar. Normally, a supercar aims to achieve the highest level of technology at that moment. Thus, improving the SF90 further, considering its existing performance, was not an easy task. So, essentially, it took the same amount of time, but the effort was tremendous.”

Watch Ferrari SF90 Stradale Hybrid Drag Race Tuned BMW M3 With 750 HP

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is a plug-in hybrid supercar that demonstrates the benefits of electrification in terms of performance. It boasts a combination of engine power and electric motors, resulting in close to 1,000 horsepower. In a recent drag race video, the SF90 Stradale goes head-to-head with a modified BMW M3 sedan.

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale features a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine, three electric motors, and an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. This plug-in hybrid vehicle, first unveiled in 2019, offers a combined power output of 986 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. The engine alone produces 768 hp, while the additional electric motors provide supplementary power. Ferrari has strategically positioned one motor on the rear axle and two on the front.

Lamborghini Urus To Become Hybrid-Only Starting 2024

Lamborghini is planning to introduce a plug-in hybrid version of the Urus SUV in 2024, replacing the current models. This news comes as a surprise, as it was previously expected that the hybrid variant would be offered alongside the traditional versions. CEO Stephan Winkelmann revealed to Autocar that the hybridized Urus will become the sole offering by late 2024. The Urus Performante was unveiled in August 2022, followed by the Urus S in September.

The hybrid Urus will be available until the end of the decade, at which point Lamborghini will launch a second-generation, electric-only model. This move towards electrification is in line with the brand’s commitment to meet stringent emissions regulations. The upcoming plug-in hybrid SUV will be Lamborghini’s second PHEV, following the Revuelto, and will be followed by a third PHEV next year with the introduction of the Huracan replacement.

Volvo Cars receives two prestigious towing awards in one day

• Volvo V60 Recharge Plug-in Hybrid T6 wins overall in the Tow Car Awards 2023

• Volvo V90 Cross Country named Best Car for Towing in the 2023 Auto Trader New Car Awards

Volvo has achieved a remarkable double win with the V60 Recharge Plug-in Hybrid T6 being named the overall winner in the 2023 Tow Car Awards, and the V90 Cross Country winning the Best Car for Towing category in the Auto Trader New Car Awards 2023. Both honors were announced today, showcasing Volvo’s commitment to delivering cars with exceptional towing capabilities, even within its new range of electrified models.

The Volvo V60 Recharge Plug-in Hybrid T6 is the first plug-in hybrid model to be crowned the overall winner in the Tow Car Awards. It also won the category for cars in the ‘1900kg+: Up to £60,000’ class.

The judging panel consisted of experts from What Car?, Practical Caravan, and the Camping and Caravanning Club, who rigorously tested the contenders on the track. Steve Huntingford, What Car? Editor, commented: “With more power and a larger battery than before, the Volvo V60 Recharge offers an excellent all-electric range and tremendous performance while towing.” He also praised the car’s stability, spaciousness, and ease of towing, concluding that “it’s hard to find fault with the Volvo as a tow car.”

The mid-sized Volvo estate has a braked towing capacity of 2,000kg. Its power and torque, derived from the petrol-electric all-wheel-drive powertrain, are key to its strong and responsive towing performance. The 253hp 2.0-liter engine generates a maximum torque of 350Nm, working in conjunction with a 145hp electric motor with 309Nm. Its performance is supported by an 18.8kWh lithium-ion battery, allowing for an electric-only range of up to 55 miles when not towing.

The V90 Cross Country’s success follows the achievement of the Volvo XC40 compact SUV in the same Auto Trader awards category last year. This year, the V90 emerged as the winner based on survey responses from over 220,000 UK car owners who rated their vehicles across various consumer-focused lifestyle categories. The Cross Country version of the stylish estate car is specifically designed for outdoor exploration, featuring all-wheel drive, a raised ride height, and the ability to tow braked trailers up to 2,400kg. Additionally, it offers up to 1,517 liters of interior space.

Erin Baker, Auto Trader’s Editorial Director, said: “The gorgeous Volvo V90 Cross Country is an enticing package, offering a premium, spacious interior, great tech, a sublime drive, and that all-important towing capability. Owners particularly commented on its distinctive Swedish styling, which sets it apart from other mainstream manufacturers.”

Kristian Elvefors, Volvo Car UK Managing Director, stated: “Creating cars that are perfectly suited to towing is part of our heritage, and it is a legacy that we are proud to continue into the new era of electrified mobility. As these awards demonstrate, success is not only about raw power but also about creating a complete package that encompasses our signature qualities of stylish design, exceptional safety, practicality, and comprehensive connectivity and convenience features.”
