First drive: Review of the Volkswagen Passat prototype

Volkswagen is working on two new petrol-electric plug-in hybrid (PHEV) drivetrains for the Passat prototype. These drivetrains use a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine combined with an electric motor mounted on the gearbox. The output varies between 201bhp and 268bhp.
