Porsche 911 Turbo S Drag Races Lucid Air Dream Performance In ICE Vs EV Fight

Carwow recently organized a drag race between the Porsche 911 Turbo S and the Lucid Air Dream Performance. Although these two cars are not typically compared, it was done to determine whether a traditional Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) can still compete with an Electric Vehicle (EV) in terms of performance.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S is a high-end variant of the flat-six coupe, while the Lucid Air Dream Performance is a dual-motor sedan. While the weight of a vehicle usually hampers its performance, the instantaneous response of an electric motor can offset the additional bulk, especially in a straight-line acceleration test with immense power.

In this race, the Lucid Air Dream Performance weighed a staggering 5,235 pounds, making it over 1,600 pounds heavier than the Porsche 911 Turbo S.

Easy Ways to Fix Scratched DVDs or CDs

If your attempts to remove scratches from your DVDs or CDs using hand techniques didn’t work or if you prefer not to use a DIY repair machine, there is another option available. You can opt for professional disc repair services. Many local secondhand media stores offer this service at a reasonable cost. The only downside is that the availability of this service may vary, as discs are not as popular as they used to be.

When choosing a store to repair your disc, it is essential to consider their reputation. Look for a reputable place that specializes in selling secondhand CDs, video games, movies, or other discs. These stores are likely to have extensive experience in fixing stubborn discs. Moreover, they may have access to higher-quality resurfacing machines compared to what you can buy for home use. This means that the outcome of their repair work may be of superior quality compared to attempting the repair yourself.

1953 Volvo Military Truck Looks Indestructible, And It’s For Sale

A unique piece of Volvo history is currently for sale in Australia on Collecting Cars. It’s a 1953 Volvo TP21 “Sugga,” which could be considered a precursor to the modern SUV.

The TP21 Sugga, meaning “sow” in Swedish, was first introduced in 1953. It was equipped with a 3.67-liter flathead inline-six engine that produced 90 horsepower. The vehicle also featured a four-speed manual transmission, selectable four-wheel drive, a two-speed transfer case, and locking front and rear differentials. Volvo primarily produced these trucks as personnel carriers and radio vehicles for military use.

According to a report from Hemmings, some of these TP21 Sugga trucks were still in service with the Swedish military until the 1990s.

Triumph Speed 400, Scrambler 400 X Hit 10,000 Bookings In 10 Days In India

Triumph Motorcycles and Bajaj partnership introduced their new single-cylinder bikes, Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X, globally on June 27, 2023. The motorcycles were highly anticipated as they mark the first collaboration between Triumph and Bajaj, who have been working together since 2017.

Just a week after the launch, on July 5, 2023, Triumph began accepting preorders for both the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X in India. The pricing information for each market was not yet available, except for the Speed 400 in India. The motorcycle was priced at 2.33 lakh Indian rupees ($2,821), but a special reduced price of 2.23 lakh rupees ($2,700) was offered for the first 10,000 bikes sold. The booking for the Scrambler 400 X was also opened on the website.

The pricing strategy seems to have worked wonders as 10,000 bookings were made within just 10 days. The Speed 400 will be available in dealerships across India later this month, while the Scrambler 400 X is expected to be launched in October 2023.

Bajaj Auto’s executive director, Rakesh Sharma, expressed excitement and gratitude for the overwhelming response received from Indian riders. He stated that the partnership between Bajaj Auto and Triumph Motorcycles has gained the trust and confidence of riders due to their commitment to deliver exceptional motorcycles in terms of performance, design, and technology.

In response to this positive reception, Bajaj plans to increase production to meet the demand. Bookings for the motorcycles can still be made through the Triumph Motorcycles India website, with a registration fee of 2,000 rupees ($24), which is fully refundable.

5 Volkswagen Designs That Came Close to Replacing the Legendary Beetle

In the late 1950s, Volkswagen began working on a rear-engine prototype that was intended to replace the Beetle. It took three years of development before the prototype, known as the EA97, was completed in 1960. Unlike other experimental Beetle replacements, Volkswagen was so impressed with the design that they hand-built around 200 two-door sedans based on the EA97.

The EA97 featured an elongated, almost pontoon-shaped body and was powered by a 1.1-liter opposed 4-cylinder engine. It had a spacious trunk in the front, adding to its practicality. Volkswagen was so confident in the EA97 that they even started setting up a production line for it. However, as the project neared completion, Volkswagen reconsidered and ultimately decided that the EA97 was too similar to both the Beetle and the Type 3, which was also under development and was eventually released in 1961. Consequently, Volkswagen cancelled the project altogether.

Interestingly, traces of the EA97 can be found in a later Volkswagen model called the Brasilia. The Brasilia was a compact, rear-engine vehicle designed and built in Brazil, primarily for the South American market. Some automotive enthusiasts believe that the design of the Brasilia incorporates elements from the EA97, linking it back to the Beetle replacement concept.

Tamburini Celebrates 100 Years Of The Italian Air Force With F43 Centenario

The Italian Air Force will be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2023, and the newly established Massimo Tamburini brand has introduced its first motorcycle to commemorate this occasion. While Massimo Tamburini himself passed away in 2014, his son, Andrea, is now designing motorcycles and related accessories to continue his father’s moto design legacy.

The Massimo Tamburini F43 Centenario is a highly limited edition bike, with only one unit being produced to honor the Italian Air Force. This bike is based on the MV Agusta F4, and although complete specifications are not yet available, it is known that carbon fiber plays a significant role in its construction.

The Moto Club Massimo Tamburini will auction off this singular F43 Centenario to support a worthy cause, the Italian Association for Cancer Research (AIRC). If you wish to learn more about AIRC or support them, we will include a link to their website in our sources.

This release comes just six months after the unveiling of the Tamburini Corse F43 Tributo in December 2022. At the time of the announcement, five different variants were planned, with Tamburini Corse producing only five of each variant for the public.

One notable difference with the F43 Centenario, aside from its exclusive production of only one unit, is the matching helmet that can be seen in the photos. Designed by Andrea Tamburini, the hand-painted Arai RX-7V Evo perfectly complements the F43 Centenario.

While Tamburini Corse has not yet updated its website with information about this bike, they have been consistently sharing photos from the official unveiling in mid-June 2023 on their active social media accounts. For more details about this bike and its upcoming auction, you can contact Tamburini Corse at info@tamburinicorse.com. The limited-edition Arai RX-7V Evo helmet, which is sold separately, is also available for purchase through Tamburini Corse. Human Horizons HiPhi X: A Closer Look

The Human Horizons HiPhi X boasts impressive digital screens, although they were not fully operational during our test drive. Once they are up and running, they are expected to provide a rich digital experience.

The central infotainment console is complex, similar to a Tesla, as it integrates most secondary systems and adjustment functions. From adjusting door mirrors to controlling ventilation settings, everything is done through the touchscreen menu.

Initially, it may seem overwhelming and potentially distracting. However, with time, users will become familiar with which functions can be adjusted while driving and which need to be set before departure.

One positive aspect is that the large display for the front passenger is designed not to distract the driver. It also has the option to be turned off when not in use.

The HiPhi X offers generous space in the first and second rows, while the third row is suitable for adults of average height and below. The overall space is in line with other vehicles in its class.

When it comes to material quality, the HiPhi X may not match the standards of brands like Audi or Range Rover. Nevertheless, considering this is Human Horizons’ first production car developed in just three and a half years, it is an impressive achievement.

The front seats are comfortable and adjustable, and the driving position is more semi-recumbent than upright, giving a unique feel.

The only downside is the limited rearward visibility, which can be improved by relying on the rear-view camera. Fortunately, most owners of this type of vehicle would likely be comfortable using the camera.

Similar to the HiPhi Z, the HiPhi X offers a refined and comfortable driving experience. Despite its size, it handles well on the road and benefits from modern suspension and steering technology. While it may not be an exciting drive, it does a great job of maintaining comfort for the occupants.
