Cadillac Escalade IQ: A Powerful and Long-Range Luxury Electric Vehicle

Cadillac has unveiled its highly anticipated electric SUV, the Escalade IQ. This larger-than-life vehicle not only outperforms most sports cars in terms of acceleration but also boasts an impressive range that surpasses many electric saloons. The Escalade IQ represents a bold statement from America’s renowned luxury brand.

Powered by an enormous 200kWh battery, the Escalade sets itself apart from other luxury vehicles like the BMW i7, Mercedes-Benz EQS, and Rolls-Royce Spectre, which typically feature smaller battery packs. With a claimed range of 450 miles, the Escalade achieves an efficiency rating of just 2.25 miles per kWh. For comparison, this is less than half the efficiency of the significantly smaller Vauxhall Astra Electric. Clearly, the goal for the Escalade was not to create the most environmentally friendly electric vehicle but rather to offer a vehicle that indulges in conspicuous consumption without relying on a combustion engine.

To support its massive battery, the Escalade is equipped with 800V electrical systems, allowing for rapid charging at a yet undisclosed speed. It can recharge up to 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes at a fast charger. Additionally, the vehicle features vehicle-to-home charging technology, which enables energy to be fed back into the grid. However, this capability will only be activated with a software update for the 2025 model year.

General Motors has yet to disclose the weight of the Escalade’s battery or the total weight of the car. However, for reference, the Hummer EV Pickup, which shares some components with the Escalade, had a 212.7kWh usable capacity battery that weighed 1326kg, according to data filed with the US Environmental Protection Agency.

The Escalade IQ is equipped with two electric motors (one per axle), delivering an impressive 750bhp and 785lb ft of torque to all four wheels when in Velocity Max mode. According to Cadillac, this allows the Escalade to accelerate from 0-60mph in under 5.0 seconds, comparable to high-performance hatchbacks like the Volkswagen Golf R.

Tata Tiago Has Achieved 500,000 Sales

Tata Tiago, the popular hatchback from Tata Motors, has reached an impressive milestone of crossing the 500,000 unit sales mark. This makes it the second Tata car to achieve this feat.

Tata Tiago

Tata Motors introduced the Tiago in 2016. Built on Tata’s X0 platform, the Tiago offered a range of in-house engines. It is manufactured at Tata’s Sanand facility in Gujarat, India. The Tiago also brought about a shift in Tata’s design philosophy, leading to the development of their current design language. Interestingly, the last 100,000 units were sold in just 15 months.

Tata Tiago NRG

In 2020, Tata launched a facelifted version of the Tiago with visual updates and compliance with the updated BS6 emission norms. Later, in 2021, Tata introduced the Tiago NRG, a crossover variant with additional features like external cladding, increased ground clearance, a new front bumper, and dual exhaust pipes. Responding to market demands, Tata further expanded the Tiago range in 2022 with the introduction of the Tiago iCNG and in 2023 with the launch of the Tiago EV, offering modern powertrain options and alternative fuel choices.

Tata Tiago EV

The Tiago’s growing popularity is reflected in the increasing number of customers opting for this hatchback. According to Tata, the average Tiago buyer is 35 years old, and the urban-rural split in sales is 60:40. Women customers are also showing a preference for the Tiago, accounting for 10 percent of the total buyers. Additionally, 71 percent of Tiago buyers in FY 2023 are purchasing their first car.

Tata Tiago Cabin

The Tiago offers a host of features, including projector headlamps, LED DRLs, 15-inch dual-tone alloys, a 7-inch touchscreen by Harman with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-speaker sound system, and a digital instrument cluster.

In terms of safety, the Tata Tiago is considered the safest hatchback in its segment. It achieved a 4-star rating in crash tests conducted by the Global New Car Assessment Program under the Safer Cars for India initiative. The Tiago comes with dual airbags, parking camera with guidelines, tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD and corner stability control, and speed-sensitive door locks.

Tata Tiago Engine

Powering the Tiago is a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 86 PS @ 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm @ 3,300 rpm. With a manual transmission, Tata claims a fuel economy of 20.01 km/l, whereas the 5-speed AMT variant achieves 19.43 km/l. The Tiago also offers a CNG fuel option, providing a mileage of 26.49 km/kg. The Tiago iCNG is the most powerful CNG car in its segment and boasts segment-first features such as ‘Direct Start in CNG Mode’ and a single ECU to ensure minimal power loss when switching between petrol and CNG modes. It also includes features like Autofuel Switch Over, Thermal & Leak detection, and a Microswitch to prevent starting with an open fuel lid.

Tata Tiago Rear

The Tata Tiago’s popularity can be attributed to its updated design, well-equipped interiors, various powertrain options, and most importantly, its 4-star safety rating from GNCAP, making it one of the safest hatchbacks in India!

1967 Ferrari 412P: A Legendary Racing Car

The Ferrari 412P is a renowned racing car that made a significant impact on the motorsport scene during the 1960s. It was specifically designed for endurance racing and featured a sleek and aerodynamic body crafted by Pininfarina. Underneath its stylish exterior, the 412P housed a powerful V12 engine that delivered impressive horsepower and exhilarating performance on the track.

This particular Ferrari 412P Berlinetta played a vital role in the FIA World Championship races after its introduction in 1967. It was originally manufactured in 1967 and was acquired by Col. Ronnie Hoare’s Team. Painted in the iconic Italian racing red with a Cambridge blue nose, this car was one of two privately owned 412P cars that participated in races that year. It was driven by Richard Attwood and Lucien Bianchi, securing a remarkable third-place overall in the Belgian Spa 1,000 Kilometers race. This achievement greatly contributed to Ferrari’s triumph in the 1967 World Championship of Makes.

Chevrolet Corvette Roadsters Discovered in a Barn and Brought into the Sunlight

The Chevrolet Corvette has a rich history and has captivated car enthusiasts since its introduction in 1953. The first and second-generation models, known as C1 and C2, respectively, have become iconic and highly prized by collectors. With prices exceeding $100,000 for pristine examples, the discovery of these classic cars hidden away in a barn holds a special allure.

This video, posted by Colture on his YouTube channel, documents the extraction of two Corvette models. The first part of the video takes us on a tour of the property, showcasing multiple Corvettes left abandoned outside and inside a barn. Among the finds is a 1961 or 1962 race car.

The first car extracted is a C1 Corvette, produced between 1958 and 1960. However, due to missing exterior components such as the chrome accents, headlamps, bumpers, and grille, it is challenging to determine its exact year or color. Despite these missing parts, the car appears to be in solid condition and worthy of restoration. Additionally, it comes with an original removable hardtop, which was designed to enhance the driving experience of the C1 Corvette throughout the year.

Using a John Deere tractor, a winch, and some assistance, the C1 Corvette is successfully loaded onto a flatbed trailer. The second car is a C2 roadster, also equipped with a hardtop. Extracting this vehicle proves to be more challenging as the rear wheels are locked, and the engine is merely resting on top of the front suspension, placing pressure on the steering rack and preventing the front wheels from turning.

After considerable effort, the C2 Corvette roadster is finally brought into the daylight and loaded onto a trailer. Covered in dirt and bird droppings, the car undergoes a pressure wash, revealing its original blue paint. Although it appears darker than the popular Nassau Blue, it resembles Laguna Blue.

Enthusiasts speculate about potential engine swaps for the C2 Corvette, should the current engine be unsalvageable. While a modern LS motor is a popular choice, some have even seen C2 Corvettes converted to electric power or fitted with a Lamborghini V10 engine.

Cloudflare CEO Claims Twitter’s Traffic Is Declining

According to Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince, Twitter is experiencing a significant decrease in traffic. Meanwhile, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been using Threads, a rival platform, to poke fun at Tesla CEO Elon Musk and discuss the possibility of Threads replacing Twitter. Zuckerberg responded to a user’s analysis of Twitter’s monthly active users and its role as a public space by stating his belief in the potential for a town square app with over one billion users. He expressed surprise that Threads has gained traction in just a few days.

In response to speculation that Twitter has censored Threads, Zuckerberg simply replied with a concerned emoji followed by laughter. He has also expressed his desire for Threads to be a positive space with genuine interactions, in contrast to the anger and toxicity prevalent on Twitter.

A significant distinction between Threads and Instagram is that Threads has stricter content restrictions, similar to Instagram, while Twitter allows explicit content. Despite this, Threads seems determined to maintain its momentum and has already launched a beta program for Android. Additionally, Instagram chief Adam Mosseri has confirmed that various features, including a chronological feed and a following feed, are currently being developed for Threads.
