Watch Nissan Leaf Take on Jet Aircraft in a Thrilling Drag Race

The Nissan Leaf has established itself as one of the best-selling electric vehicles globally, with over 500,000 units sold to date. In the United States, it is available with two different battery options, priced at $27,800 and $35,800 respectively (excluding the $1,095 destination and handling fee). The European and Japanese markets also offer this popular electric hatchback, and Nissan has released an exciting new video ad to mark the start of the new model year.

In the attached short clip, which you can find at the top of this page, the Nissan Leaf goes head-to-head with a jet aircraft in a drag race. Although we won’t spoil the outcome for you, we can say that it is an intense battle, with a narrow margin at the finish line, highlighting the Leaf’s impressive acceleration from a standstill. However, it’s important to note that this acceleration experience may differ from the model’s performance after exiting cruise control.

New Nissan Murano Rendered After The First Spy Photos

The Nissan Murano has been a successful player in the SUV market, with over 500,000 deliveries in the United States since the current-generation model was introduced in 2015. However, the rapidly evolving world of SUVs called for a new generation of the Murano, and recently, we got a glimpse of the next-gen Murano through spy photos. Now, we have renderings that give us an early preview of the completely redesigned vehicle.

One of the most noticeable changes compared to the outgoing model is the updated V-Motion grille. It appears wider and doesn’t extend as deeply into the front fascia as the current model. The oversized headlights of the current Murano will be downsized, with some lighting elements seemingly relocated to the grille area. Overall, the front fascia gives us a sense of the Ariya vibes, but with an even more sophisticated look.

In terms of profile, the next-gen Murano maintains a strong resemblance to its predecessor. The distinctive kink in the C-pillar is visible beneath the camouflage wrap, and the beltline still features the characteristic hump behind the side glass. Moving to the rear, there’s a new lower fascia with a lowered license plate cutout, along with slimmer taillights connected by what appears to be an LED light strip.

Although the exterior of the new Murano looks completely different from the current model, it’s important to note that the underlying platform and the 3.5-liter V6 engine are likely to carry over. The 2024 Murano will continue to be based on Nissan’s D platform, and the V6 engine, possibly in an updated form, will power the vehicle. It’s expected to be paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, distributing power to all four wheels.

Meanwhile, if you’re interested in the current Murano, you still have the opportunity to purchase it for another year. Nissan has announced that for 2024, they will retire the base S grade, replacing it with the SV trim as the new entry-level model. The 2024 Murano SV starts at $39,255 in its front-wheel-drive configuration, representing a $760 increase compared to the 2023 Murano SV. This increase is partly due to the slightly higher destination charge of $1,335, up from $1,295 in the previous year.

Tata Tiago Has Achieved 500,000 Sales

Tata Tiago, the popular hatchback from Tata Motors, has reached an impressive milestone of crossing the 500,000 unit sales mark. This makes it the second Tata car to achieve this feat.

Tata Tiago

Tata Motors introduced the Tiago in 2016. Built on Tata’s X0 platform, the Tiago offered a range of in-house engines. It is manufactured at Tata’s Sanand facility in Gujarat, India. The Tiago also brought about a shift in Tata’s design philosophy, leading to the development of their current design language. Interestingly, the last 100,000 units were sold in just 15 months.

Tata Tiago NRG

In 2020, Tata launched a facelifted version of the Tiago with visual updates and compliance with the updated BS6 emission norms. Later, in 2021, Tata introduced the Tiago NRG, a crossover variant with additional features like external cladding, increased ground clearance, a new front bumper, and dual exhaust pipes. Responding to market demands, Tata further expanded the Tiago range in 2022 with the introduction of the Tiago iCNG and in 2023 with the launch of the Tiago EV, offering modern powertrain options and alternative fuel choices.

Tata Tiago EV

The Tiago’s growing popularity is reflected in the increasing number of customers opting for this hatchback. According to Tata, the average Tiago buyer is 35 years old, and the urban-rural split in sales is 60:40. Women customers are also showing a preference for the Tiago, accounting for 10 percent of the total buyers. Additionally, 71 percent of Tiago buyers in FY 2023 are purchasing their first car.

Tata Tiago Cabin

The Tiago offers a host of features, including projector headlamps, LED DRLs, 15-inch dual-tone alloys, a 7-inch touchscreen by Harman with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-speaker sound system, and a digital instrument cluster.

In terms of safety, the Tata Tiago is considered the safest hatchback in its segment. It achieved a 4-star rating in crash tests conducted by the Global New Car Assessment Program under the Safer Cars for India initiative. The Tiago comes with dual airbags, parking camera with guidelines, tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD and corner stability control, and speed-sensitive door locks.

Tata Tiago Engine

Powering the Tiago is a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 86 PS @ 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm @ 3,300 rpm. With a manual transmission, Tata claims a fuel economy of 20.01 km/l, whereas the 5-speed AMT variant achieves 19.43 km/l. The Tiago also offers a CNG fuel option, providing a mileage of 26.49 km/kg. The Tiago iCNG is the most powerful CNG car in its segment and boasts segment-first features such as ‘Direct Start in CNG Mode’ and a single ECU to ensure minimal power loss when switching between petrol and CNG modes. It also includes features like Autofuel Switch Over, Thermal & Leak detection, and a Microswitch to prevent starting with an open fuel lid.
