BMW M3 Engine Teardown Shows The Consequences Of Suspected Over-Revving

Engine teardown movies are like a thriller story since you slowly be taught extra about the reason for the failure because the clips proceed. This explicit video, nonetheless, is like an Agatha Christie story as a result of there are such a lot of crimson herrings. Watch the items come off a BMW S55 twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six from a 2016 M3, and see what number of failures you possibly can spot all through the video.

Whenever you see a BMW engine with the prefix S, it implies that the powerplant comes from the M division. We do not know whether or not this 2016 M3 has the Competition bundle or not, so the mill’s authentic output is both 425 horsepower or 444 hp.

GM Hilariously Lists Corvette ZR1’s Rumored LT7 Engine As 4.3-Liter Diesel

By far the biggest mystery surrounding the hotly anticipated Corvette ZR1 is the type of engine Chevrolet’s engineers intend to install. In late October, an eagle-eyed person with access to the GM Parts Catalog stumbled upon an LT7 listed as a turbocharged eight-cylinder mill with a 5.5-liter displacement. Well, that’s no longer the case because the database has been updated to show an entirely different LT7, one that GM had back in the 1980s.

Discovered by a member of the Corvette Forum, the LT7 now appears as a 4.3-liter V6 diesel. Coincidentally, or perhaps not, there was an oil-burner with this displacement between the 1982 to 1985 model years. Engineered for front-wheel-drive cars, this diesel enabled the 1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera to return 28 miles per gallon in the city and 41 mpg on the highway for a combined 33 mpg. It was also offered in the Buick Century, Chevrolet Celebrity, and the Pontiac 6000 during the same model years.

However, we’d reckon 85 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque wouldn’t be enough for the Corvette ZR1. But why is the Corvette now listed as having a diesel V6 instead of a gas V8? Well, to show GM has a sense of humor is one logical explanation. The cat is probably out of the bag anyway, so why not do some damage control by replacing the true identity of the new LT7 and have fun along the way?

Many would argue a diesel has no place in a mid-engine supercar, although Audi would beg to differ with its R8 V12 TDI concept. A diesel would make more sense in the long-rumored Corvette SUV but in the age of electrification, a high-riding ‘Vette would have a gas engine assisted by an electric motor to deliver the necessary low-end torque.

Diesel engines have largely fallen out of favor anyway in the wake of the Volkswagen Group’s messy Dieselgate scandal. There are more chances of seeing the rumored twin-turbo hybrid Zora than a diesel Corvette, which would surely upset purists more than the E-Ray or the already confirmed fully electric model.

Kia EV4 Electric SUV Spotted for the First Time

We now have our first glimpse of an unidentified electric vehicle (EV) from Kia. The exterior of the car is heavily camouflaged, making it difficult to discern its features. Our sources suggest that it may be called the EV4, indicating that it would be positioned below the existing EV6 and the upcoming EV5 models.

The front end of the Kia EV4 is completely concealed by covers, which serve to obscure the actual design of the vehicle. Nevertheless, it is possible to catch a glimpse of vertically placed headlights on the outer edges of the front nose, even though they are partially covered by fabric.

New Kia Forte Spied For The First Time, Could Be Called K4

A mystery awaits us, my friends. This particular set of automotive spy photos presents a vehicle that has not been seen before and carries sparse information about it. Kia deserves acknowledgment for their ability to keep secrets.

Based on our deductions, we believe that this camouflaged sedan is the forthcoming Kia Forte of the next generation. However, we use this name loosely because the Forte goes by the name Cerato in certain markets. Additionally, there are rumours that it might be called K4 once the covers are removed. There is also a chance that it could be referred to as K3, which is yet another name for the current Forte in specific regions. This adds to the confusion since Kia recently unveiled a new K3 sedan in Mexico, although that K3 is an upgraded version of the subcompact Rio. Notably, the car captured in these photos appears to be larger. Therefore, regardless of the badge it ends up donning, it is clear that this is an evolution of the Forte. Are we all on the same page?

New Nissan Nismo Model Premieres On August 8

Nissan has announced that a new Nismo model will be unveiled on August 8. The teaser campaign has piqued the interest of automotive enthusiasts who are eager to find out which vehicle will receive the sporty Nismo treatment.

The accompanying Japanese text on the teaser does not provide any additional hints about the identity of the vehicle. It simply states, “8/8 10:30 New model released.”

Based on the current Nismo lineup, which includes the Leaf, Note Aura, GT-R, and the recently launched Z, it is safe to say that the new model will not be any of these existing models. The silhouette in the teaser suggests that the vehicle could be a sedan or a hatchback, ruling out the possibility of it being a crossover or a van.

It is highly unlikely that the new Nismo model is the rumored hybrid sports car that Nissan’s CEO mentioned to be under development. No specific details about the hybrid sports car have been provided so far.

Nissan has expressed interest in building an electric sports car with solid-state batteries, but it is unlikely that this new Nismo model is the electric sports car in question. The company does not expect to have the technology for production until 2028.

The most recent addition to the Nismo sub-brand is the Nismo Z, which features a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine producing 420 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque. The Nismo Z comes with a nine-speed automatic gearbox, revised styling for enhanced aerodynamics, and improved suspension. It will be available for sale this fall.

Porsche Teases Mystery 911 For June 29 Debut

Porsche France has released a teaser for what could be a new variant or special edition of the 911. The mystery vehicle will make its debut on June 29, coinciding with the Le Mans Classic event. In the background of the teaser is the Porsche 356 SL, which was the winner in the 1,100 cc class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1951.

The team at Motor1.com reached out to Porsche for more information about this vehicle, but the US team didn’t have any additional details.

We have enhanced the image to get a clearer view of this 911. Based on what we can see, it appears to be a standard model. There is a “911” badge below the “Porsche” wordmark. The lower bumper is partially visible and seems to be the same as the current Carrera model. The paint color appears to be a very dark shade of gray or black.

Porsche 911 Teaser Brightened Cropped

Based on what we can see, it doesn’t seem like the vehicle in this teaser is the upcoming 911 ST. Spy shots (shown below) reveal that it has a completely different rear bumper design compared to the vehicle Porsche plans to reveal on June 29.

Porsche has a rich history at Le Mans, with 19 overall wins and 108 class victories, making it the most successful marque at the race. However, in the 2023 edition of the 24-hour race, the company faced challenges, with its highest-placed car finishing ninth in the Hypercar class.

Upcoming VW Jetta or Sagitar for Chinese-Market Spotted during Tests in Europe

A Volkswagen car model was seen recently during testing in the Austrian Alps, sparking curiosity among car enthusiasts. Whether it’s the Jetta for the United States or the Sagitar for China is unknown. What’s evident is that the vehicle is undergoing brake testing, as indicated by the “Bremsprobe” label on the rear.

The car has some features in common with the current Jetta and Sagitar. It has pointed elements on the inner part of the headlights and a trapezoidal lower fascia with shiny metallic components in the mesh. Managed air curtains also occupy the outer edges.
