Hennessey Launches Tuned Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Making 1,000 HP

Hennessey has unveiled a powerful upgrade for the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, boosting its engine output to a remarkable 1,000 horsepower and 966 pound-feet of torque. This is a significant improvement compared to the stock model, which produces 668 hp and 659 lb-ft.

To achieve this extra power, Hennessey made several modifications to the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine. They added ported cylinder heads, an HPE camshaft, and new components for the valves, lifters, and pushrods. The stock supercharger was replaced with a larger one. Additional enhancements include oversized heat exchangers, a high-flow air intake, stainless steel headers, and revised engine management software.

Hennessey claims that their 1,000-hp Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 2.5 seconds, compared to around 3.5 seconds in its original configuration. The upgraded sedan can also cover a quarter-mile in just 10.1 seconds. While the tuner hasn’t provided a specific top speed figure, they state that it surpasses the standard model’s 205 mph limit.

Aside from the power upgrade, Hennessey has kept the rest of the CT5-V Blackwing unchanged. The vehicle still features the Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 suspension system and offers carbon-ceramic brakes as an optional upgrade, which weigh 53 pounds less than the standard steel rotors.

Inside the Blackwing’s cabin, there is a 12.0-inch digital instrument cluster with three display modes: Tour, Sport, and Track. The vehicle also includes features like launch control and a Performance Traction Management system.

The 2023 CT5-V Blackwing starts at $93,390 after the $1,395 destination charge. However, Hennessey is not currently accepting orders for the 1,000-hp upgrade. The company plans to offer the tune starting in August 2023.

Looking ahead, the 2024 CT5-V Blackwing will feature a few upgrades. Commemorating the 20th anniversary of Cadillac’s V Series models, it will have special badges on the grille and lower portion of the front door. Additionally, the driver info display will have a new wake-up animation. Several new colors will be available, including Velocity Red, Cyber Yellow Metallic, Coastal Blue Metallic, and Black Diamond Tricoat. Vehicles equipped with the 10-speed automatic transmission will also have the option of GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving assist.

Porsche 911 Reimagined By Singer is a 964 with 934/5 Style and 700 HP

Singer, known for their exceptional restoration and reimagining of the Porsche 911, has once again delivered with their latest project. The Dynamics & Lightweighting Study (DLS) – Turbo combines the beloved air-cooled 964 generation with the racing legacy of the Porsche 934/5 race car from the 1970s. The result is truly remarkable.

To understand the inspiration behind this masterpiece, we have to go back to the 1970s when Porsche was dominating the racing scene with their 911 Turbo. The 934 and 935 models were specifically built for FIA competition, but a hybrid version called the 934/5 was created for IMSA in 1977. This unique car was so impressive that it was soon banned by IMSA, leading Porsche to compete in SCCA events where the 934/5 continued its winning streak and even claimed the 1977 SCCA Trans Am championship.

Porsche 911 964 Dynamics & Lightweighting Study Track-Focused By Singer
The track-focused version of the Porsche 911 964 Dynamics & Lightweighting Study By Singer

The design of the new Singer creation pays homage to the bold and aggressive styling of the 934/5 race car. Carbon fiber bodywork, including wide fenders, rear intakes, NACA ducts, and an adjustable spoiler, captures the essence of the 935 portion of the 934/5. The track-focused version features an orange color and a massive splitter for maximum aerodynamic performance on the track. However, for those looking for a less aggressive option, Singer also offers a road-focused version with a classic ducktail spoiler and a more relaxed splitter.

Porsche 911 964 Dynamics & Lightweighting Study Road-Focused By Singer
The road-focused version of the Porsche 911 964 Dynamics & Lightweighting Study By Singer

Singer paid attention to every detail to capture the essence of the 1970s era. Black trim replaces the bright elements typically found on later Porsches, and the short 930-style hood adds to the authentic look of the car. The challenge for Singer was to merge the ’70s style with a ’90s 964 platform while incorporating elements of the 934/5 in two interchangeable configurations. According to Singer, developing the rear wing and front fascia for both the high-downforce track version and the low-drag road version was particularly challenging.

Under the hood, all versions of the 911 964 Dynamics & Lightweighting Study boast a Singer-designed 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine with air-to-water intercooling. This powerhouse is capable of producing over 700 horsepower and can rev beyond 9,000 RPM. It’s important to note that while Singer has partnered with a Porsche subsidiary to build engines, the DLS mills used in this project are still crafted by Nicholson McLaren Engines at Singer’s facility in the UK.

Overall, the Porsche 911 964 Dynamics & Lightweighting Study By Singer is a true work of art that combines vintage racing heritage with modern performance. Whether you choose the track-focused or road-focused version, you can expect an unparalleled driving experience.

Watch 1965 Mercedes-Benz 220 SE Barnfind Get First Wash In 15 Years

After spending 28 years in a barn, the time has come for this 1965 Mercedes-Benz 220 SE coupe to finally receive a much-needed wash. And after all the hard work, the classic coupe looks absolutely stunning.

According to reports, when this car was brand new, it was supposedly on display at either the New York or Chicago Auto Show. It boasts a black body with a sunroof and a red leather interior, and under the hood, you’ll find a powerful 2.2-liter inline-six engine.

As is customary, the first step in the cleaning process involves rinsing off the body to assess its true condition. While there are a few paint chips here and there, overall, the classic Mercedes looks fantastic. Polishing the black paint brings back its shine and luster.

The carpets and some door panels are stored in the trunk, but due to their fragile nature, WD Detailing avoids using a pressure washer on them as usual. Instead, the cleaners opt for compressed air to clear off any debris and then use a sprayer with soapy water.

The final step involves shining the exterior trim, including the grille and bumpers. By using some polish, the team is able to remove any pitting and bring back the metal’s original shine.

At the end of the video, the owner fires up the engine. After a few tries, it roars to life, which is quite impressive considering it had been sitting idle for such a long time. The car appears to be running well, and the owner is even able to drive the Mercedes away, which is remarkable for a vehicle that had been stored in a barn since 1995.

With Mercedes rapidly transitioning into an electric automaker, it will be fascinating to see if their future products can match the longevity of classic cars like this one. Models like the EQS and EQE are leading the way, featuring high-capacity batteries that allow for long driving distances between charges. And there are even more electric models on the horizon, such as the EQG, which is set to debut in late 2024 and will add an off-road-capable EV to Mercedes’ lineup.

Aston Martin Chairman Lawrence Stroll Believes He Should Be Knighted for Saving the Company

Lawrence Stroll, the executive chairman of Aston Martin’s road car business and owner of the Formula 1 team, believes that he deserves to be knighted for his efforts in saving the company and setting it up for future success.

In a media interview before the firm’s capital markets day, Stroll expressed his belief that he should be recognized for his achievements. He stated, “I should be knighted for what I’ve done. I’ve saved thousands of jobs and built a new Formula 1 factory with hundreds of millions of investment.”

Stroll emphasized the significant investment he has made in Aston Martin, which amounts to around £1.5 billion. He described it as a huge show of his belief in the company and its future success.

Setting Aston Martin up for long-term success has been a challenging task that typically takes between five and 10 years for industrial companies. However, Stroll believes that achieving this feat within just three years demonstrates his determination and commitment.

Despite negative media coverage affecting Aston Martin’s performance, Stroll remains confident in the brand’s future. He believes that external perception still carries a sense of negativity due to the impact of the company’s IPO, but he emphasizes that the current management team has made significant progress over the past three years and is focused on future endeavors.

Stroll draws attention to the evidence of Aston Martin’s success in the form of increased car prices and improved margins. The average sale price of an Aston is expected to rise from £157,000 in 2020 to £223,000 in 2023, with a margin goal of 40% for future cars.

Under Stroll’s leadership, Aston Martin has already introduced the Aston Martin DB12 and has plans for the Vantage and DBS replacements, the Valhalla mid-engined supercar in 2024, and the company’s first EV in 2025. The partnership with Lucid will provide crucial motor and battery cell technology for Aston’s upcoming electric vehicles.
