JD POWER SURGE FOR THE HUSKY TX300: PRODUCT REVIEW

PRODUCT: JD Jetting became well-known in the world of two-stroke tuning by conducting extensive in-house testing and offering jetting solutions for popular models. In addition to that, they now provide tuning methods for the latest fuel-injected motorcycles, including recent KTM and Husqvarna two-strokes with throttle-body injection. The Power Surge is an EFI tuner that is manufactured by Dobeck Performance for JD. This piggyback tuner modifies the fuel delivery in fuel-injected motors by adjusting the signal between the CPU and the injectors. It allows users to make the fuel mixture richer or leaner in six different zones. JD conducts its own testing and provides proprietary programming for this product.

OUR TAKE: The Husqvarna TX300 two-stroke is a great bike, but it can be a bit challenging to handle. It offers two maps through a handlebar switch – one aggressive and one mild. The aggressive map is suitable for motocross but can be difficult to manage in rocky or muddy off-road conditions. The mild map, on the other hand, provides a softer power delivery that is better for trail riding. However, many riders want a setting that falls somewhere in between. With the JD Power Surge, you can achieve that. Installing it is simple, and it can be securely attached to the steering head. The unit comes with connectors that are compatible with the original equipment wiring. When we tested the JD Power Surge, we noticed a significant difference in power in the lower midrange of both maps. In the mild map, the power increase was enough to enhance off-road riding and racing. However, in the aggressive map, the power boost was a bit excessive for off-road use.

The tunability of the Power Surge is extremely valuable in finding the right balance. By making slight adjustments to the fuel mixture, we were able to achieve a setting that made the aggressive map more manageable without sacrificing power. It’s important to note that this product only affects fuel mixture and does not impact spark advance or power-valve timing. However, future advancements may provide options for adjusting power-valve timing.

BOTTOM LINE: We highly recommend the JD Power Surge for fine-tuning throttle-body-injected two-strokes. Without it, you’re limited to the factory settings that may not suit your riding preferences.

2024 Hyundai i30 N Hot Hatch Spied Hiding Possible Second Facelift

Hyundai, known for its short product life cycles, is surprisingly working on a second facelift for the i30 N. Unlike its usual practice of making significant modifications for a facelifted version, this time the changes seem to be minor. Recent spy shots captured a camouflaged prototype of the i30 N near the Nürburgring, revealing subtle updates compared to the refreshed hot hatch released in 2020.

Upon closer inspection, it appears that the test vehicle features the same revised headlights and taillights introduced in the first facelift for the i30 N. While the camouflage might be deceiving, there are some noticeable novelties at the front. The bumper has been redesigned to accommodate vertical air intakes, and the honeycomb pattern of the front grille has undergone a slight change. Additionally, the area surrounding the lower intake has seen mild revisions.

The AGV K3 features technical improvements that enhance its performance. The helmet’s thermoplastic shell comes in three different sizes, ensuring a comfortable and customized fit. Watch And Listen As A 33-Year Old Audi 200 I5 Turbo Dominates the Autobahn

In 1990, Audi was facing declining sales and an outdated product line. An unfounded sudden acceleration scandal had damaged the brand’s reputation, resulting in a 50% drop in US sales since 1985. Audi was on the verge of withdrawing from the North American market, similar to Alfa Romeo and Peugeot. However, they decided to focus on their strengths.

Unlike Alfa Romeo and Peugeot, Audi had two advantages: its turbocharged inline-five-cylinder engine and Quattro all-wheel drive system. These technologies were introduced in the 1980s with the original Ur Quattro and the Sport Quattro S1, a powerful rally car. By incorporating the turbo five-cylinder and Quattro AWD into the mild-mannered 200 model, Audi began to regain its prominence.

In its stock form, the 1990 Audi 200 Quattro produced 217 horsepower and 228 pound-feet of torque from its turbocharged inline-five engine. However, the owner of the metallic brown sedan featured in this video claims that it has been modified to produce 480 horsepower. They describe the car as a “grandpa on steroids” as it takes to the autobahn for a top-speed run.

The distinct growl of the five-cylinder engine fills the air as it idles. Unlike the smoothness of an inline-six engine, the five-cylinder emits a rougher, bear-like sound, conveying both anger and eagerness to accelerate. The car wastes no time in reaching high speeds on the autobahn.

At 5,000 rpm and 180 kph (approximately 112 mph), the Audi 200 maintains a steady course in the left lane. The resonance of the inline-five is reminiscent of Lamborghini Huracan and Audi R8, both equipped with V10 engines that share the uneven pulses of the five-cylinder. As the turbo boost kicks in, the car gains momentum and races towards its 7,000 rpm redline, leaving caution behind.

During the video, the Audi 200 reaches a top speed of 240 kph (approximately 150 mph) before the driver encounters traffic and exercises self-preservation. For comparison, a new Audi S6, considered the modern equivalent of the 200, has a claimed top speed of 155 mph. However, while the Audi S6 may offer a safer and more comfortable driving experience, it lacks the raw excitement provided by the modified Audi 200 as it conquers the autobahn.

Meta’s Twitter Competitor Threads Now Available on Android and iOS

In the past, there were rumors about a Meta product called Threads, but it turned out to be a service that no longer exists. However, in recent months, we have gained a clearer understanding of what the new Threads has to offer. Screenshots of the app were leaked in early June, and the Android version became available just a few days ago. The iOS version quickly followed suit. Prior to the official launch, some people were able to download the Android app through an apk file, but they were unable to sign in as their accounts lacked the necessary permissions.

Now that the app has been released in multiple markets, former Twitter users who switched over under Elon Musk’s leadership, as well as those eagerly anticipating the next big thing, have a new option that feels familiar. Threads is different from Mastodon, which can be confusing for many people, and other limited platforms like Bluesky. Threads is widely accessible, especially since it is linked to Instagram, a social media app that is likely already installed on your phone. With Meta leading the way, Threads is more likely to have longevity compared to competing platforms from startups that may struggle to secure the necessary financial backing for a successful product.

Lamborghini’s Financial Success Allows Development of Huracan Successor Without Audi R8 Twin

In order to mitigate financial risks associated with investing in a niche product, Lamborghini previously collaborated with Audi to share costs. The Gallardo and Huracan were developed alongside the first- and second-generation R8 models. However, Audi has confirmed that there will not be a third collaboration. Despite this, Lamborghini, based in Sant’Agata Bolognese, has announced that a new Lamborghini model will be introduced in 2024. A top executive, Francesco Scardaoni, who serves as the director for the Asia-Pacific region, explains how this is made possible.

Scardaoni reveals that the upcoming Huracan replacement will be developed solely by Lamborghini, thanks to the company’s years of profitability. A major contributing factor to Lamborghini’s success is the immense popularity of its Urus SUV, which some enthusiasts may view as a necessary compromise. In 2022, Lamborghini achieved its best year ever with a turnover of €2.38 billion and an operating margin of 25.9 percent. It recorded an operating income of €614 million and recorded a record-breaking 9,233 unit deliveries, with 5,367 units being the Urus.
