In this article, we will focus on roof-mounted and towbar-mounted racks. Roof-mounted racks are generally more affordable, easy to store, and can fit most vehicles. However, they can be difficult to load, especially on tall SUVs or vans, and they may not fit in car parks with height barriers.

The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 includes a provision called the “Advanced Manufacturing Production Credit,” which offers tax credits for ten years to promote local production of electric vehicle batteries. Recycled batteries also qualify for subsidies if they are recycled within the United States, regardless of their initial place of production.
These incentives enable U.S. electric vehicle manufacturers to accelerate production while reducing their dependence on China for battery supply. Additionally, although it may not really find many takers in the United States, the Seltos offers an excellent 1.5 diesel engine with a choice of a manual or torque-converter automatic gearbox. The diesel automatic variant, in particular, stands out as the best powertrain, delivering a smooth and efficient performance, making the Sonet feel like a more premium and larger vehicle.
Despite its successes, the Sonet does have some limitations. Similar to the Hyundai Venue, its back seat lacks the spaciousness offered by some rivals, and the ride can feel slightly choppy. Additionally, the handling dynamics may not be as engaging as some would hope. Nevertheless, the Kia Sonet strikes an impressive balance among compact SUVs, offering a loaded feature set and outstanding versatility. If you seek a compact vehicle that can handle various tasks with ease and comes packed with features, the Sonet remains a top choice.

These campers provided an impressive amount of space and amenities in a compact design, making them a great option for individuals who didn’t want to tow a trailer or drive a motorhome. Even today, modern truck bed campers are highly sought-after for overlanding. The 1970s versions, with their retro charm, have also become collectors’ items.
One such vintage camper is the 1976 Chevrolet Blazer Cheyenne Chalet that was recently featured on Bring A Trailer. Unlike a standard pickup truck, this camper is built on a Chevrolet Blazer K5 platform. It’s one of approximately 1,800 Chalet campers produced during a two-year production run. The vehicle has only 57,000 miles on it and has been freshly refinished with a two-tone tan and bronze paint job. Under the hood, it retains its original 350 cubic-inch V8 engine paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Chinese manufacturer Sarkcyber has introduced a new electric scooter called the HC 200 Ursa. Electric scooters have gained popularity in urban areas due to their user-friendly design and ease of operation. Many electric scooters in the market are made in China, including the HC 200 Ursa. Sarkcyber, a new player in the industry, has a team that includes former Honda employees, indicating their expertise in the field. The HC 200 Ursa is designed for urban and suburban environments and has a maximum speed of 70 km/h (44 mph). It features a modern minimalist design, a digital display for ride information, smartphone connectivity, a remote key, and LED lights. The scooter is powered by a 60V, 45Ah battery that allows for a range of approximately 75 km (47 miles) at an average speed of 45 km/h (28 mph). It can be fully charged in three hours. The HC 200 Ursa has 14-inch wheels for stability and balance and is equipped with front and rear disc brakes with a combined braking system. The scooter is priced at 4,390 Euros ($4,770 USD) in the European market and is available for purchase through the MBP and Keeway dealer network.
In Germany, Alpina’s diesel models are popular because people prefer to commute long distances rather than fly internally. In Japan, which is traditionally a petrol market, they have also started to embrace diesel models, similar to the trend in the early 2000s.
From a dynamic perspective, the Alpina D3 S is quite impressive. It has a firm yet controlled ride, low noise levels, and heavy but consistent steering. The car feels incredibly stable at high speeds and has a reliable and uncompromising approach.
It’s common to compare Alpina models with their BMW M counterparts, but since the D3 S is a diesel and BMW doesn’t offer this engine, I won’t be making a direct comparison to the M3 Touring. These two cars are quite different, and the D3 S lacks the agility of the M models.
If there is an issue with the D3 S, it’s not entirely its fault. The 20-inch wheels with 30-profile Pirelli P Zero tires provide a nicely balanced four-wheel-drive setup with even weight distribution. However, on a couple of occasions, I encountered unexpected British potholes at night that made me fear damaging a tire. It might be worth considering the 19-inch wheels instead, although they have a different design compared to the sleek Alpina classic spokes that I’m personally fond of.
