They’re both built atop the same platform, and so I’m certain that taking the On-R on light gravel roads and easy trails will be a walk in the park. Nevertheless, the two models are underpinned by an electric dirtbike platform, featuring long-travel suspension, wire-spoke wheels, and slim bodywork.

VMoto offers both the On-R and Off-R in two versions – L1 and L3. In the L1 spec the bike has a top speed limited to 28 miles per hour (45 kilometers per hour). Meanwhile, the L3 spec raises this limit to 56 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) for the On-R, and 69 miles per hour (110 kilometers per hour) for the Off-R model. The two models are also differentiated by their head angles, with the On-R featuring a 30-degree head angle, and the Off-R getting a much slacker, more off-road-ready 18 degrees. Of course, the Off-R gets knobby tires, too.

In terms of performance, both bikes are rocking a mid-drive electric motor with a nominal output of 5.3 horsepower (four kilowatts), and a peak output of 11 horsepower (eight kilowatts). Range figures are 42 and 65 miles (68 and 104 kilometers) respectively.

Chinese manufacturers have been launching a variety of new motorcycles in recent years. Brands like CFMoto, QJ Motor, and Loncin have gained popularity with their impressive lineup of models. Cyclone, a subsidiary of the well-known Chinese brand Zongshen, has also been making a significant impact in the motorcycle industry.

Cyclone has established a notable partnership with the renowned British brand Norton. This collaboration is evident in their offerings, with models like the RX 650 adventure bike and the upcoming RE 650 retro-roadster incorporating Norton’s technology. It is equipped with a 648cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, inline-four engine, delivering a respectable 95 horsepower and 43 pound-feet of torque. The Zongshen engine has a slightly larger displacement than its Honda counterpart, thanks to a slight increase in stroke from 46mm to 47.8mm. This accounts for the “680” in the bike’s name, although the actual displacement is reported to be 674cc.

In terms of style, the RC 680 shares some common features with other sportbikes produced in China, displaying flashy details that catch the eye. Currently, details about the production timeline for the RC 680 have not been disclosed. The only available visuals are low-resolution renderings. Furthermore, it’s important to note that the transition from concept to production can often take time, so it may be a while before we see the bike in its final form. It is also common for designs, especially those that closely resemble existing models, to be primarily targeted at the domestic market in China.
