Key Takeaways

Tata Nexon facelift

  • The Tata Nexon, with over 15,300 units sold, was not only the best-selling SUV in its segment but also the highest-selling SUV overall in September 2023. Its sales experienced a significant growth of over 90 percent month-on-month (MoM), resulting in a market share of almost 27.5 percent. This number includes the sales figures of the new Tata Nexon EV as well. Both models recently received a facelift.

  • The Maruti Brezza came in second place with just over 15,000 units sold. Its year-on-year (YoY) market share increased by slightly over 1.3 percent.

  • The Hyundai Venue was the only other SUV to surpass the 10,000-unit sales mark. Its MoM sales increased by 11 percent. This number includes the sales of the Hyundai Venue N Line, the sportier version of the SUV.

Kia Sonet

  • The Kia Sonet achieved sales of almost 5,000 units, showing a strong MoM growth rate of 20 percent. While it may have half the sales of its Hyundai cousin, it still holds the fourth-highest position in terms of sales with a market share just under 9 percent.

  • The last two spots on the segment charts were taken by the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger SUVs. The Nissan Magnite sold close to 2,500 units, while the Renault Kiger failed to surpass 1,000 units. As a result, both SUVs had a market share of less than 5 percent in September 2023. Nissan recently introduced the option of an AMT with the Magnite, which could potentially impact its sales in October 2023.

VAN DRIVERS COULD SAVE NEARLY £150 PER MONTH BY SWITCHING TO AN ELECTRIC VAUXHALL WITH NEW STELLANTIS E-LCV GRANT

  • Van drivers in the expanded London Ultra Low Emission Zone could save nearly £150 per month by making their next van an electric Vauxhall, instead of a diesel van
  • Vauxhall Combo Electric and Vauxhall Vivaro Electric available with £2,500 Stellantis e-LCV (electric light commercial vehicle) Grant
  • e-LCV Grant is on top of existing government grant for electric vans and ULEZ van scrappage scheme, offering potential savings of up to £17,000 on a new electric van
  • Offer includes a wallbox installed at home for no extra cost*
  • Customers will also receive £400 credit on an Octopus Electroverse card, providing up to 2,500 miles of free public charging from over 500,000 chargers across the UK and Europe**
  • Offer available now on all purchase and lease options, on select stock

Van drivers in the expanded London Ultra Low Emission Zone could save nearly £150 per month by switching from a diesel van to a fully electric Vauxhall Vivaro Electric with the new Stellantis e-LCV Grant.

The Stellantis e-LCV Grant offers customers a £2,500 incentive on small and medium electric vans, including the Vauxhall Combo Electric and Vauxhall Vivaro Electric. This is on top of the existing government grant for electric vans, worth up to £5,000. Businesses and sole traders operating in the recently expanded London Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) can also apply for up to £9,500 to scrap a non-compliant van and replace it with an electric model – meaning customers could enjoy up to £17,000 off a new electric van.

The Stellantis e-LCV Grant also includes a free home wallbox installation* and £400 credit on an Octopus Electroverse card, delivering up to 2,500 miles of public charging from over 500,000 chargers across the UK and Europe**. This contributes to a total cost of ownership for a new Vauxhall Vivaro Electric of just £403.23 per month when factoring in the cost of travelling into the ULEZ and Congestion Charge zones – representing a saving of £145 per month compared to a new diesel Vivaro. Even drivers not initially looking to replace their current van could benefit from zero-emissions-in-use driving and the latest features without any extra outlay by upgrading to a Vivaro Electric (based on an old Euro-5 diesel van).

James Taylor, Managing Director, Vauxhall, said: “With £2,500 off a new Vauxhall Combo Electric or Vivaro Electric alongside existing government grants, it’s an ideal time to switch to an electric van. For van drivers affected by the recent expansion of the London ULEZ, going electric offers significant financial savings. As the UK’s best-selling e-LCV manufacturer, Vauxhall is committed to electrifying Britain’s businesses.”

Vauxhall has been the UK’s best-selling electric van manufacturer for the past two years and continues to lead the sales charts so far in 2023. More than one-in-four electric vans sold in the UK year-to-date has been a Vauxhall Vivaro Electric, making it the UK’s best-selling e-LCV (according to the latest SMMT registration figures***). Vauxhall is one of few brands to offer a fully electric variant across its entire LCV line-up.

The free home wallbox available alongside the e-LCV Grant will be supplied by Ohme or Free2Move eSolutions (subject to availability) and is compatible with the MyVauxhall app. The wallbox installation is managed by Octopus, with customers also able to benefit from an optional Octopus energy tariff. If a customer already has a wallbox installed, they will instead receive a £750+VAT Customer Deposit Contribution towards their new van.

The e-LCV Grant is available on all purchase and lease options, including outright purchase, conditional sale/hire purchase, Finance Lease or Business Contract Hire through Leasys, ensuring all customers making the switch to electric can benefit.

The offer applies to orders, on stock vehicles, from today (02/10/2023) until and including 31/12/2023.

* Standard home installation according to the installer’s guidelines. Extra costs will be applicable where non-standard install material/practices are required, such as additional cabling.

** Based on WLTP test figures and average public charging costs across networks which can be accessed using Octopus Electroverse card.

Actor and comedian Kevin Hart will be showcasing his impressive collection of custom-built cars at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show. This will be the first time that all 11 of his vehicles will be displayed together for the public to see.

It has taken Hart more than 10 years to curate his collection, which he fondly refers to as his “Kollection.” Each car was meticulously designed according to his personal preferences, with many of them centered around a unique theme. As a big fan of horror movies, some of his cars even feature designs inspired by this genre.

UAW Workers Once Used Horses On The Picket Line, Historical Photos Show

For the first time in the nearly century-long history of the United Auto Workers (UAW) union, Ford, General Motors, and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles are simultaneously impacted by a strike. Individually, the union has bumped heads with Motown companies many times since its formation in 1935. And sometimes, horses joined workers on the picket lines. Wait, what?

UAW Archivist on Twitter is currently sharing images of striking workers throughout the decades, and the horses caught our attention. There is no date or context for the photos, and it’s not clear if the horseplay is tied to a single strike or multiple strikes. One image shows a horse that clearly references a strike against General Motors. We think the image of the gentlemen on horseback (representing Local 1262) comes from Illinois, but we don’t have a direct tie to a specific automaker in that situation. In any case, we’ll go out on a limb and just say these photos are old.

Listed as the UAW’s official repository in its Twitter description, UAW Archivist isn’t just sharing old strike photos with animals involved. We see workers striking against Ford, with one image dated from 1937. Another series of black-and-white photos focuses on a strike against Chrysler in 1950.

Currently, 13,000 hourly workers from three assembly plants are on strike. The walkouts have shut down production of the Ford Bronco, Chevrolet Colorado, and Jeep Wrangler, and additional walkouts at other locations are expected in the days to come. According to Automotive News, rolling walkouts could extend the UAW’s $825 million strike fund, which is used to pay members who aren’t clocking in for work. As for vehicle production, estimates say Detroit automakers could lose upwards of 24,000 per week.

Striking workers are seeking pay raises of 36 percent with equal pay among working tiers, and a shift of temporary workers to full-time status. Also on the table are a return to defined benefit pensions, more time off, and future pay increases to match inflation. As the first day of this historic strike moves into the evening hours, there’s no indication that negotiations between the UAW and automakers have resumed.

It’s a truck that is sure to catch attention both on and off the road.

The original Nissan Hardbody was a rugged and dependable compact pickup truck, and Nissan is bringing back its spirit with a contemporary twist. Spruce Up Your Bike’s Tech With New NaviCam Aftermarket Display

Modern motorcycles now come equipped with full-color TFT displays, even on entry-level models. However, not all displays are created equal and some offer more features than others. NaviCam, a startup, aims to address this issue with their latest product – the CL876 aftermarket dash. This dash integrates dashcam functionality, Apple Carplay, and Android Auto, providing riders of affordable motorcycles with connectivity features typically found on more expensive bikes.

The CL876 is designed to be universally compatible with all motorcycles, regardless of their age. This makes it particularly useful for those who commute on older motorcycles or simply want to enhance the technology of their touring bikes. The display can be mounted in various configurations, utilizing a ball and socket mechanism that allows for easy adjustability. NaviCam offers a claw mount, handlebar mount, and steering stem mount options.

In addition to navigation and music streaming capabilities, the CL876 also features a wired connection to a 1080p/60fps dashcam installed on both the front and rear of the bike. It also includes a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), which is not commonly found on mid-tier models. However, the dashcam and TPMS functionalities are premium features that come at an additional cost, as they are not standard with the CL876.

2025 BMW X3 Spied With Production Headlights And Quad Exhaust

The next generation of the BMW X3 is on its way, and recent spy photos have captured the vehicle with its production headlights and quad exhaust system. This particular prototype appears to be the M Performance version of the X3, as indicated by the quad exhaust system. BMW has started using this design feature on its M Lite models, such as the X1 M35i.

In addition to the quad exhaust, this prototype boasts the full production body, including the final headlights. It is also equipped with large two-tone wheels, featuring red brake calipers. These details further suggest that this is indeed an M Performance model, and rumors indicate that it may be named the X3 M50i. It remains uncertain whether this new model will come with an increase in power, as the larger SUVs in the “M60i” range have the same output as their “M50i”-badged predecessors.

Next Nissan Frontier Delayed By Two Years, Could Go Electric: Report

Nissan is extending the production of its current midsize truck, the Frontier, until the 2029 model year, instead of the previously planned 2027. According to a supplier memo obtained by Automotive News, the reason for this extension is not specified, but it is believed to be related to Nissan’s electric agenda.

One of the reasons cited by a supplier is that Nissan wants to avoid launching a traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle when electric vehicle (EV) production is already in full swing at its factory in Canton, Mississippi. This suggests that the next Nissan Frontier could possibly be an electric vehicle.
