What Happens To An Engine When You Overfill It With Oil?

In the right amount, fresh engine oil will better protect against excess friction during cold starts while offering maximum lubrication during extreme hot weather. Every gas or diesel engine can only accommodate a prescribed amount of oil, and pouring too much into the crankcase will cause the oil to foam or thicken, essentially disabling the oil’s ability to flow in hot or cold operating conditions.

If the oil can’t flow, it cannot pass through the tiny oil passages to lubricate the valvetrain, combustion chamber, pistons, and other internal components. It’s no different from vigorously churning milk and turning it into butter, and a thicker, buttery consistency is not what an engine needs to prevent it from breaking down.

Moreover, more oil means raising the oil pressure unnecessarily, which leads to leaky gaskets and oil seals. If your vehicle suddenly has an illuminated check engine light after an oil change and has symptoms like blue or white smoke, subpar performance, or unusual engine noises, it could mean the engine is drowning in oil.

Can A Stock Honda XL750 Transalp Handle Dirt Trails?

Contrary to popular belief, the 2024 Honda XL750 Transalp is more capable than you might think when it comes to dirt trail riding. Even without any protection parts, upgraded tires, or suspension modifications, this bike can handle off-road terrain straight from the dealer. If you’re skeptical about its dirt trail performance, you should check out A Dork in the Road’s video.

In the video, the Transalp is shown in its stock form with no additional protection parts. It is equipped with accessories like a Quad Lock wireless charger and a tank bag. The factory-installed tires are the Metzeler Karoo Streets, which are more road-oriented but still capable on the trail. Despite these features, the bike performs impressively well on dirt, mud, gravel, and rocky ATV trails.

One comment in the video mentioned that the rear suspension felt “pogo-ey” or bouncy. This could be due to the Showa shock and Honda’s Pro-Link system not being properly adjusted prior to the ride. However, this does not undermine the fact that the Transalp is well-prepared for adventure riding. Its 21-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear wheel give it an edge compared to other stock adventure bikes on the market.

Considering the affordable price of the Honda XL750 Transalp, which is just under $10,000 USD, it is a great deal for riders who want to take it on the trail without any added protection accessories. It offers excellent performance and value for its price range.

Although the video mentioned above is not a full review of the bike, it provides an initial impression of its capabilities. A Dork in the Road is expected to share his final thoughts on the Transalp, particularly in comparison to the Yamaha Tenere 700, which he also owns. Stay tuned for more insights.

Manthey Porsche 911 GT3 RS Takes on the Nurburgring

A new upgrade kit for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is being developed by Manthey-Racing. A recent spy video shows the test vehicle pushing its limits on the iconic Nurburgring race track.

At first glance, the Manthey-tuned 911 GT3 RS may not appear visually different from the standard model. However, Manthey has a track record of focusing on enhancing the car’s aerodynamics and chassis in their previous upgrades.

Toyota GR GT3 Concept Spotted Testing on the Track with a Muscular Sound

A recent spy video captures Toyota conducting tests for their latest sports car. Despite being heavily camouflaged, the unmistakable outline of the Toyota GR GT3 concept can be seen. This car is being developed for both racing and regular road use.

Filmed from a distance at the Motegi motorsport venue, the video doesn’t provide much insight into the coupe’s design. However, we can still make out its compact size on the track. Additionally, the long, flat hood and prominent wing are clearly visible. The car’s aggressive sound, resembling that of a V8 engine, reverberates through the video.

2024 Honda Accord Debuts In Japan With Different Climate Controls Than US Model

The 2023 Honda Accord made its US debut in November 2022 with a fresh new design, a hybrid powertrain, and tech upgrades in the cabin. However, the 2024 model is not yet ready for America. Instead, it is making its Japanese debut, giving us a glimpse of the potential changes that the US version may receive later this year.

The released photos show no significant visual changes on the exterior. The front fascia still features sleek LED headlights and a hexagonal grille. The taillights at the back maintain their coast-to-coast design, with the lighting strips extending near the Honda badge in the center. However, notable differences can be found inside the vehicle.

Peugeot E-5008 Spotted with Angular Design, Hinting at an upcoming Electric SUV

Newly released spy photos give us a glimpse of what appears to be the upcoming Peugeot E-5008 electric SUV. While it is uncertain whether this model will debut next year or by 2025, it is undoubtedly part of Peugeot’s strategy to expand its electric vehicle lineup.

What sets this spy shot apart from previous ones of the 5008 is its closed-off front end, replacing the traditional open grille. This design choice is commonly seen in electric vehicles, as they require different cooling mechanisms compared to conventional cars. Additionally, slender headlights can be observed just below the hood’s edge.

Tweaked Styling

Hyundai i20 2023

While the visual changes are subtle, they are still easily recognizable. The cascading grille design and the LED headlamps have been tweaked, while the LED DRLs are still inverted. The fog lamps have been skipped, but the air dam design has been mildly updated. Wrapping up the front look is the redesigned bumpers which look like racing skirts.

The i20 facelift looks slightly different from the side thanks to the new 16-inch alloy wheels. The rear profile has been updated with a redone bumper, but with the same Z-shaped LED tail lamps.

Subtle Changes To The Interior

Hyundai i20 2023

The interior looks identical to the pre-facelift model, save for the new dual-tone black and grey interior, which replaces the all-black theme. The leatherette seats have been swapped for semi-leatherette upholstery, but there are still hints of soft touch material on the door trims.

Minor Feature Reshuffling

The i20 facelift just gains one feature – USB Type-C fast charging ports. It continues to offer an electric sunroof, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 7-speaker Bose sound system, a digitised driver’s display, wireless phone charger, and an air purifier.

Safety Features Standardised

The i20 facelift has improved the safety game with six airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchorage, ESC, hill assist control, day-night IRVM, vehicle stability management, and three-point seatbelts for all passengers as standard. Higher variants get a rear parking camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, and automatic headlamps.

Updated Powertrain

The biggest change here is actually a downgrade for the premium hatchabck as the regular i20 loses the 1-litre turbo-petrol engine option. Powering the hatchback is now the 1.2-litre petrol engine only, which is rated at 83PS and 115Nm. Transmission options include 5-speed manual and CVT automatic, the latter upping the power figure to 88PS.

The turbo-petrol is likely to remain exclusive for the N Line variants, which is expected to get a facelift soon.

Rivals

The Hyundai i20 continues to rival the likes of the Tata AltrozMaruti Baleno and Toyota Glanza.

THE NEUE NEW: BMW accompanies the departure into a new era with an emotionally engaging multi-channel campaign.

Munich. The world premiere of the BMW Vision Neue Klasse marks a new beginning for the BMW brand, one characterised by a completely fresh way of thinking and approach. THE NEUE NEW is the title of the multi-channel campaign accompanying the Bavarian premium carmaker’s ongoing process of transformation. The campaign’s storytelling captures the central areas of action contained within this transformation and brings an unusual angle to the idea of “the new”.

The campaign THE NEUE NEW developed and implemented by the agency THE GAME created specially for the BMW Group and the BMW brand – explains in an authentic and accessible way what underpins the “NEU” of the forthcoming NEUE KLASSE. The use of the German word for “new” references the name of this new-generation model series and has an effective and memorable impact in non-German-speaking markets around the world as well as at home. At the same time, the campaign shines the spotlight on the brand promise “Freude forever.” and opens a window to BMW as a future-facing brand focused on meeting peoples’ needs.

“THE NEUE NEW represents our journey into a completely new era of mobility, in which we are putting people front and centre. And its visual implementation is likewise very authentic, accessible and human,” says Jens Thiemer, Senior Vice President Customer and BMW Brand. “The campaign provides an initial example of how we are also employing innovative communication approaches to drive forward the transformation process BMW is currently navigating.”

THE NEUE NEW tells the story of the transformation alongside the key future-focused fields the BMW Group has set itself: the ideal of a circular economy as a progressive mindset geared towards preserving resources; digitalisation focused on identifying and meeting peoples’ needs; and a commitment to electrification with the aim of making the driving pleasure for which the brand is renowned something future generations can also experience.

As a central hub in which these three elements converge, the BMW Vision Neue Klasse embodies a fresh departure fuelled by optimism for the future. Recalling the “mk1” Neue Klasse, which revolutionised the brand’s product range in the 1960s, the storytelling approach is deliberately playing on the German “Neue” in non-German-speaking markets as well as at home and, in so doing, redefining the idea of “the new” itself.

The BMW Vision Neue Klasse shows us here and now how Sheer Driving Pleasure will be interpreted in the years ahead. At its heart is the design language of “intelligent reduction to the essentials”. Meanwhile, the latest generation of BMW iDrive delivers a digital, immersive user experience in which the driver takes centre stage. Every aspect of the development process took sustainability and efficiency as the guiding themes.

THE NEUE NEW: 360-degree campaign follows a “social first” approach.

The campaign strategically orchestrated by THE GAME feeds all the main touchpoints of the various target groups. Alongside various influencer collaborations, the campaign focuses primarily on the brand’s social media channels. A filter for Instagram and Snapchat developed specially for the campaign also allows the BMW Vision Neue Klasse to inspire its audience within an augmented reality experience.

The 360-degree approach of THE NEUE NEW allows it to make a mark with out-of-home activities and double-page spreads in print media, too. The campaign is supported by other measures on BMW channels such as the My BMW App, the brand’s homepage and FREUDE.FOREVER magazine. THE MARCOM ENGINE was responsible for the media planning across all channels and touchpoints.

During the IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich, the campaign also becomes a physical experience. The concept behind the show stand for the BMW Group’s Open Space at Max-Joseph-Platz was the work of creative consultancy Meiré and Meiré. The installation for the BMW Vision Neue Klasse followed THE NEUE NEW campaign approach and was accompanied by communications input from Cologne-based creative agency Elastique, and the key opinion leader & talent agency Pacific took care of the on-site support programme.

There is a tweaked Hyundai cascading grille, a new headlamp design with inverted LED DRLs, a revised bumper, and side intakes. The Hyundai logo has also been updated to match the brand’s recent models. Additionally, the front design is similar to the globally sold i20, which received a facelift in May.
