  • The teaser shows a slightly modified front grille, updated LED lighting, and a redesigned bumper.

  • It is also expected to have new alloy wheels and a redesigned rear bumper.

  • New features may include a new digital cluster, dual camera dashcam, and ventilated front seats.

  • Safety enhancements could include six airbags as standard and a 360-degree camera.

  • The engine options are likely to remain the same, including the 1.2-litre petrol and 1-litre turbo-petrol engines with manual and automatic transmissions.

The Hyundai i20 facelift has been revealed for the first time in India, with the expected launch during the festive season, possibly in November 2023. This is the first major update for the premium hatchback since its debut in 2020. The facelift has already been introduced in other countries.

The changes to the front of the car are quite subtle but give it a slightly sportier look. There is a tweaked Hyundai cascading grille, a new headlamp design with inverted LED DRLs, a revised bumper, and side intakes. The Hyundai logo has also been updated to match the brand’s recent models. Additionally, the front design is similar to the globally sold i20, which received a facelift in May.

Other Expected Changes

New Expected Features

The updated hatchback is expected to come with new features such as a new digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, a dual-camera dash cam, and multi-color ambient lighting. Safety features could also be improved with six airbags as standard and the addition of a 360-degree camera. However, it is unlikely that the i20 facelift will offer the ADAS kit at this point.

The current i20 already offers a wide range of features including an electric sunroof, a 10.25-inch touchscreen system, a wireless charger, cruise control, a rear parking camera, up to six airbags, and hill hold assist.

Updated Powertrains

The i20 facelift is expected to continue with the same 83PS 1.2-liter petrol engine, available with a 5-speed manual and CVT transmissions. The 120PS/172Nm 1-liter turbo-petrol engine will also be retained. While the 7-speed DCT will still be offered, the 6-speed iMT may be replaced by a 6-speed manual transmission. However, it is unlikely that the diesel engine option will be available for the Hyundai hatchback.
