CPU Purchasing Tips: 5 Key Considerations for Choosing the Right Processor

When buying a new processor, it’s important to select the right one based on your specific needs. While a mid-range processor can handle basic tasks, more demanding activities like gaming or video editing require high-performance processors with multiple cores and faster clock speeds.

Gamers should prioritize processors with high single-core performance to ensure smooth gameplay and avoid bottlenecks. The Intel Core i5-13600K or AMD Ryzen 5 7600X are good options that offer a balance between price and performance, delivering sufficient power for modern games.

Professionals working on tasks like video editing and 3D rendering need processors that excel in multi-threaded performance. For these purposes, processors with higher core counts and faster clock speeds, such as the Intel Core i9-13900K or AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, are more suitable. These processors provide the necessary processing power to handle complex computations and reduce rendering times significantly.

Aside from core counts and clock speeds, there are other important factors to consider, including integrated graphics, cache size, and platform compatibility.

Hyundai Exter Has These 5 Additional Features Over The Grand i10 Nios

The Hyundai Exter does also have a few things in common with its hatchback sibling

Hyundai Exter and Grand i10 Nios

We have recently received detailed images of the cabin of the Hyundai Exter. The automaker has also confirmed several features that will be available with the micro SUV. As the Exter is positioned above the Grand i10 Nios in the lineup, it offers new features compared to its platform sibling.

Let’s take a look at the top five features that the Exter offers over the Grand i10 Nios:

Digitised Driver’s Display

Grand i10 Nios’s instrument cluster

Hyundai has equipped the Exter with the same digitised instrument cluster found in the facelifted Venue. It also comes with a coloured TFT MID in the center, displaying vital information such as tire pressures, odometer reading, and distance to empty. On the other hand, the Grand i10 Nios only features a coloured TFT display in the center of its two analogue dials.

Six Airbags As Standard

Hyundai Exter cabin

The facelifted Grand i10 Nios does offer up to six airbags, with four as standard. However, Hyundai has gone the extra mile and made six airbags standard in the Exter. This also gives the Exter an advantage over its direct rival, the Tata Punch.

Dual-camera Dashcam

Hyundai Exter dashcam

The Venue N Line was the first Hyundai car in India to come with a dashcam setup as a standard feature, rather than an accessory. Hyundai has now confirmed that the Exter will be equipped with a dual-display unit, which will be useful in emergency situations and for recording trips or documenting long journeys.

Single-pane Sunroof

The inclusion of a single-pane sunroof sets the new entry-level SUV from Hyundai apart from not only the Grand i10 Nios but also the Punch. It may even be the smallest offering in India equipped with a sunroof.

Semi-leatherette Upholstery

In contrast to the fabric seats found in the top-spec variants of the Grand i10 Nios, the Exter will come with semi-leatherette upholstery. While the Exter has an all-black cabin theme, the hatchback also offers the option of a dual-tone interior.

Key Similarities

Although Hyundai has given the Exter a significantly different cabin and exterior design, it still shares several key features with the Grand i10 Nios.

The Exter shares the same 8-inch touchscreen system, wireless phone charging, cruise control, auto climate control, and steering wheel with the Grand i10 Nios. It also has the exact same wheelbase and powertrain options: a 1.2-litre petrol engine with the choice of manual and AMT, as well as a CNG alternative.

Launch And Price Update

Honda Swapped Ferrari 308 Completes First Track Outing at Buttonwillow

A Ferrari with a Honda engine swap may divide opinions, but one thing is for sure – the recently completed project is nothing short of impressive. Mike from StanceWorks took a Ferrari 308 GTBi, which he considered underpowered and overweight, and transformed it into a lighter and faster machine over the course of two years. The resulting Honda-powered Ferrari 308 GTB is a purpose-built track car designed for Time Attack events, where participants compete to set the fastest lap time.

Featuring a turbocharged Honda K24 engine producing 1,000 horsepower, this Ferrari 308 GTB has undergone extensive modifications. Mike fabricated numerous components, including the oil lines for the dry sump and cooling systems. The car weighs in at 2,600 pounds and includes a full race cage and safety equipment. Even the most dedicated Ferrari enthusiasts would have to admit that this is an impressively built car.

During its first outing at Buttonwillow, the Honda-powered Ferrari 308 GTB demonstrated its capabilities. After a few warm-up laps, the car hit the track and showcased its power with the distinct sound of an aggressive, unmuffled turbocharged engine. The lap times were estimated to be around 1:58 before an issue caused a loss of power.

Fortunately, the issue was attributed to a loose HD clamp, which is crucial for building boost and manifold pressure. While this prevented further track time for the StanceWorks crew on that day, they are eagerly looking forward to returning soon.

Although there is a paid version, the free version of DaVinci Resolve surpasses iMovie with features such as color correction, 8K editing, and visual effects.

Crafting a Vision: Calty Design Research and the Colorful Legacy of the TRD Pro Series

Color has a powerful impact on our emotions and perceptions. In the world of automotive design, color plays a vital role in conveying a vehicle’s identity and appeal. For Toyota’s Calty Design Research team, the development of a signature color for the TRD Pro series is a testament to their artistic vision and commitment to innovation. Let’s take a closer look at the captivating story behind the TRD Pro color for the 2024 model year – Terra.

The Genesis of Calty Design Research

In 1973, Shoichiro Toyoda established Calty Design Research, the first major automotive design studio by a Japanese automaker in North America. This demonstrated Toyota’s recognition of the importance of design in shaping the future of mobility. With locations in Newport Beach, California, and Ann Arbor, Michigan, Calty has been at the forefront of Toyota’s design revolution, leaving its mark on numerous models produced by Toyota.

Color selection for the TRD Pro series involves a team effort that includes collaboration with various departments such as planning, marketing, engineering, and manufacturing. Sellene Lee, CMF senior lead designer at Calty’s Newport Beach location, describes it as a fun challenge to find a color that aligns with everyone’s vision.

The Art of Selecting the Annual TRD Pro Color

Each year, Calty’s team takes on the exciting challenge of developing a new TRD Pro color. This exclusive color is available only on select TRD Pro series vehicles and embodies their unique blend of power, toughness, and style. The selection process involves ensuring that the chosen color looks good on all four models (Tundra, Sequoia, 4Runner, and Tacoma). It’s a complex process that involves analyzing market trends, understanding consumer insights, and letting creativity flow. Past TRD Pro colors include Quicksand in 2016, Voodoo Blue in 2019, and Lime Rush in 2022.

Once a color is chosen, the real challenge begins – perfecting the science behind the paint. Factors like temperature, humidity, and equipment can affect the color outcome, so it’s essential to ensure that the final color matches the initial intention. Sometimes, it takes several attempts to fine-tune the color to achieve the desired result.

The most recent TRD Pro series color, Solar Octane, is a vibrant orange inspired by a bright sunbeam. The color incorporates a dash of pearl for a captivating effect in sunlight, reflecting Toyota’s commitment to design excellence.

The TRD Pro Color Odyssey Continues

The future of the TRD Pro color palette is as exciting as its past. Calty and Toyota are always listening to customers and using their insights to fuel creative inspiration. The TRD Pro series colors symbolize the vehicles’ exceptional off-road capabilities, durability, and spirit of adventure. Each model year, a new color tells a unique story, carrying forward Calty’s legacy of exceptional design. Benjamin Jimenez, general manager of Calty in Ann Arbor, teases that customers can expect the unexpected as they look forward to the colors of the future.

Squarespace to Acquire Google Domains Assets from Alphabet

Squarespace has announced its plan to purchase the assets of Google Domains, making it the new marketplace for almost 10 million domains previously associated with Google’s short-lived venture. To address concerns about domain renewal, Squarespace guarantees that it will honor the existing renewal prices for Google Domains customers for at least 12 months after the transaction is complete.

Both companies claim that the process of transferring domains will be smooth, although this is usually not the case. It is uncertain whether Squarespace will increase prices or promote its website-building services after the 12-month period of honoring renewal rates.

Nevertheless, this acquisition presents a significant business opportunity for Squarespace. According to the company’s announcement, it will be the exclusive domain marketplace for individuals seeking a domain with a minimum three-year subscription to Google Workspace. Squarespace, known for its website-building platform, also offers domain name registration services. For current Google Domains customers, no immediate action is required. Squarespace allows users to transfer their website to its platform and move their custom domain from one site to another, as long as it is hosted on Squarespace servers.

No Dearth Of Performance And Efficiency

One of the greatest benefits of going electric is the elimination of fossil fuels from daily commutes. It also reduces costs over time because electricity is much cheaper than gas. Likely no surprise here, but the biggest selling point for the BMW i5 is its all-electric efficiency. With so many options, like varying motor sizes and extra sporty features, the technology provides ample potential for a dynamic driving experience without sacrificing performance. The BMW i5 electric sedan comes with two drivetrains – the eDrive 40, which offers 335 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. On the other hand, the M60 xDrive ups the power to 590 horsepower and 586 pound-feet, granting you access to unprecedented speed and agility compared to other EVs.

No matter which powertrain you choose, one thing is for certain—the 2024 BMW i5 is extremely efficient. Each version offers Sport Boost mode that unlocks extra torque for short bursts of speed and acceleration. If performance is your priority, then the M60 xDrive model should pique your interest. M60 xDrive owners will benefit from a Sport Boost Mode, which temporarily boosts up to 605 pound-feet torque. This setup gives the BMW i5 electric supercar high acceleration levels with just the push of a button. Plus, with advanced active roll stabilization, rear steering design, and efficient brakes, the i5 ups the ante for cornering and handling. The i5 BMW can achieve a good range of up to 295 miles on a single charge for the eDrive40 model and 256 miles for the M60 xDrive. This amount of impressive range means fewer trips to the charging station. On top of that, drivers will benefit from fast-charging technology. The i5 can recharge 10–80 percent in 30 minutes thanks to its 11 kW Level 2 AC plugs and 205 kW Level 3 DC fast chargers.

The BMW i5 Is Luxurious To The Core

The days of having an ugly EV stuck out amongst your everyday cars are gone, thanks to the sleek design of the BMW i5. Unlike its competitors, the car appears surprisingly discreet while retaining a hint of luxury to remind people of its presence. There’s something timelessly appealing, perhaps influenced by the iconic three-series at play. The large panoramic roof is particularly appealing, which reveals almost the entire surface. Featuring BMW Operating System 8.5, the Curved Display provides an integrated 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster plus a 14.9-inch infotainment display screen in one pane of glass, collectively working together seamlessly, providing an intuitive and user-friendly experience. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also make support connectivity possible, wireless device charging ensures you’ll have power when needed, and gesture controls give you innovative options to interact with your car. Heated seats and ambient lighting provide an extra touch of luxury in the BMW i5.

Furthermore, the Harman Kardon sound system ensures riders can be immersed in various soundscapes, from roaring pulses to vivid fluxes, for added enjoyment during each drive. Moreover, safety comes first on the list of priorities, and the BMW i5 electric sedan does not disappoint. As standard, the car comes fitted with a full suite of technologies like front collision mitigation with a left-turn warning, rear cross-traffic warning with brake intervention, lane keep assist with active blind-spot detection, and autonomous lane changes with eye activation. Those who feel daring can opt for the Driving Assistance Professional package, which unlocks hands-free driving up to 85 mph.

It Isn’t Cheap In The Top-of-the-line Performance Spec

Red BMW i5 M60 xDrive
BMW
A red BMW i5 M60 xDrive cruising on the road

Even though BMW i5 price tag is decent, shelling out $67,795 for the eDrive40 model or $86,095 for the AWD M60 xDrive variant may be too pricey for some. This BMW i5 price isn’t exactly pocket change unless you’ve got rather deep pockets, and it makes the car a less desirable purchase option for those looking within mid-range budgets. Factor in regular maintenance, such as brake pads and tires, and reduced resale value due to diminishing battery capacity over time, and things start to add up quickly. Moreover, adding optional upgrades and packages will push the price to more steep levels. As mentioned, the BMW i5 offers pretty good range capability, but compared to its competitors, the Air, it seems to come out short. Tesla’s Model 3 has a higher range rating of 333 miles, and the Lucid Air easily surpasses 400 miles with an estimated range of 406 miles. While these numbers might not make too much difference to everyday commuters, it’s worth noting for those frequent long-distance travelers as it may be a turn-off to them. Alongside range, the maximum charge rate must be considered part of quick road trip planning.

While the i5 reaches its peak rate of 205 kW relatively quickly, it falls behind other rivals, such as the Lucid Air rate of 300 kW (the second-fastest charging EV on the market). Although the infotainment inside the i5 is aesthetically pleasing and feature-rich, it struggles with usability issues because of its overly complex user interface. Without tactile buttons and knobs, the user interface becomes overly dependent on large touchscreen controls. The simultaneous use of haptic feedback and touchscreen technology can become overwhelmingly complex in day-to-day use. Though it’s worth lauding the automaker’s efforts to keep the car modern, BMW may need to rethink how this setup fairs in success later. Operating the navigation, audio, and climate settings simultaneously requires too much effort and thought– something less tech-savvy customers may struggle with. Fans of wagons will, unfortunately, remain curious until BMW decides to bring this popular body style back to American shores. Only overseas markets get to rock with the stylish high-roofed station wagon variant.

The BMW i5 represents an innovative step into the world of electric cars and undeniably brings a new level of excitement into the industry. Considering all the points above, the BMW i5 sedan proves to be an innovative and capable vehicle. Undoubtedly, the BMW i5 is a luxurious, high-performance electric sedan that promises to be a formidable competitor in the EV market. With its advanced technology, beautiful interior design, and powerful performance, the BMW i5 checks all the boxes for luxury cars. However, prospective buyers must remember that this still presents no small financial commitment and carries several shortcomings relative to its nearest competing models. Considering all the pros and cons of the BMW i5 before investing in it is ultimately important. Even so, the i5 BMW is a well-rounded choice if you want a premium, reliable, practical all-electric EV. And judging from the pros and cons presented above, the German brand truly means business in delivering an affordable and efficient choice for anyone willing to invest their hard-earned money into it.
