These New Android Auto Apps Could Help Make Your Commute More Productive

Updated versions of Android Auto will now let users attend important work meetings, provided they are set up in Cisco’s WebEx or Zoom. It’s rather strange to see that Google’s official app, Google Meet, is missing from the list of tools that support this feature. This newfound capability effectively lets users join scheduled meetings right from their car. Google is also promising more accurate weather predictions on cars with Google Built-in thanks to the impending launch of the official Weather Channel app. This is in addition to many entertainment options that will let you make the most of long, dreary trips. The biggest addition is the official rollout of Amazon Prime Video to the Google Play Store for Android Auto. However, this app will be limited to select cars from Renault, Polestar, and Volvo for now. Petrol Jeep Avenger Coming to UK Starting at £27,000; Hybrid Model to Follow

Starting early next year, petrol versions of the Jeep Avenger will be available in the UK, priced at £27,000, and will come with a manual gearbox. A limited quantity of just 600 units are currently on order. Additionally, a mild-hybrid powertrain variant of the Jeep Avenger will also be introduced in the UK, according to Paul Rush, Jeep’s UK product boss, in an interview with Autocar.

The decision to sell the petrol Avenger in the UK was made in response to a high number of inquiries from UK dealers. Previously, the petrol variant was only intended for sale in Italy, Poland, and Spain, where the demand for electric vehicles is not as high due to inadequate EV infrastructure.

Jeep stated that introducing the petrol Avenger meets the demands of its consumers as 80% of its sales are for internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. Rush expressed that it was an easy decision to bring the petrol variant to the UK when asked by European bosses. However, Rush believes that the total quantity of petrol Avengers sold in the UK will not exceed a couple thousand units.

The petrol Avenger will feature a turbocharged three-cylinder 1.2-litre Puretech engine, which is also used in other Stellantis models like the Vauxhall Corsa, Peugeot 308, and Citroën C3 Aircross. Priced at approximately £27,000, the compact crossover will only be available in mid-range Altitude trim, with no customization options except for the paint color.

There is limited information available on the mild-hybrid variant, but it is expected to be priced around £30,000 and equipped with the same 1.2 Puretech 48V unit found in the Peugeot 3008. This engine is combined with a 28bhp electric motor integrated into a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The mild-hybrid Avenger is anticipated to have one trim level and limited options.

Jeep’s strategy is focused on promoting the Avenger as an electric vehicle. However, Jules Tilstone, the UK boss, sees an opportunity in certain market segments for internal combustion engine vehicles and views them as effective advertising tools.

This decision by Jeep follows a similar move by fellow Stellantis brand Citroën, which decided not to sell the C4 X model solely with electric power in the UK.

Armoured BMW i7: A Luxury Electric Car Designed for Heads of State

BMW has introduced armoured versions of its flagship saloon, offering enhanced protection with features such as protective glass, a reinforced chassis, and bodywork capable of withstanding explosives. This marks the first time the current generation of the 7 Series receives an armoured edition, with the electric BMW i7 also receiving its own Protection model.

The vehicles are also equipped with PAX 20-inch light-alloy wheels, specifically designed for them. These wheels feature a run-flat ring that allows driving at speeds of up to 50mph even when the tires have no air.

Due to the additional protective bodywork, the performance of the two cars is somewhat compromised.

The i7 Protection model is powered by two electric motors, generating 536bhp and 549lb ft of torque. While the standard i7 achieves a 0-62mph sprint in 4.7 seconds, the i7 Protection model takes 9.0 seconds to reach the same speed. Its top speed is limited to 99mph.

On the other hand, the 7 Series Protection is equipped with a 4.4-liter V8 mild-hybrid petrol engine that produces 522bhp and 553lb ft of torque. Its 0-62mph acceleration drops from 6.6 seconds to 4.2 seconds, with a top speed limited to 130mph.
