10 Of The Most Luxurious Classic American Cars

Following the post-war period, there was a continuous increase in economic prosperity across the country, resulting in more consumers able to afford luxury goods. In response, auto manufacturers, such as Lincoln, began producing cars specifically targeted at high-end buyers, such as the ultra-exclusive Continental Mark II.

The Continental Mark II was distinct from the regular Lincoln branding and was produced in its own dedicated facility, known as the Continental Division. This division comprised the most skilled designers and engineers within the company, tasked with creating a vehicle that exuded the glamour of the 1940s Lincoln Continental. The resulting car not only paid homage to its predecessor but also boasted a fresh, sleek, and elegant design. Weighing over 4,800 pounds, the car was equipped with a powerful 368 V8 engine, delivering 300 horsepower and reaching a top speed of 115 mph.

The level of craftsmanship and quality was exceptional, with precision in every detail. From the tightening of nuts and bolts to the application of the paint, every aspect was meticulously executed. The interior was equally impressive, featuring luxurious amenities such as power windows, brakes, and seats, as well as zoned heating. However, despite the unparalleled luxury, the Continental Mark II was discontinued after only two model years due to its exorbitant price, which rivaled that of a contemporary Rolls-Royce.

2024 Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Aurora Brings Three New Colors To Spectrum

In recent years, Royal Enfield has demonstrated impressive growth thanks to the launch of its new models. Both inside and out of its home country of India, the company’s models have proven to be a success – embodying retro style and classic charm, while being accessible to a wide range of riders.

The brand’s 350 range of motorcycles, consisting of the Classic, Hunter, and Meteor, have lowered the barriers to entry in the premium segment, and continue to be popular models in the global market. That being said, for the 2024 model-year, the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 has been introduced in new colors in India, hinting that these new liveries could soon make their way to other markets.

2024 Royal Enfield Meteor Aurora - Trio, Parked

The new colorways of the Meteor 350 have been given a variant of their own. In keeping with Royal Enfield’s celestial-themed names for the model’s variants, the new colors have been called Aurora, as they represent vivid colors with contrasting elements that give them a retro look. In total, there are three colors under the new Aurora range, and Royal Enfield says that they’re inspired by the sky and horizon, reflecting a blend of retro design elements. In the Meteor 350’s lineup, the Aurora sits in between the Stellar and Supernova editions, and features Aurora Blue, Aurora Green, and Aurora Black options.

Apart, of course, from the new color schemes, the Meteor 350 Aurora also receives a more retro-inspired theme when compared to its siblings. It rolls on wire-spoke wheels with tubed tires, and gets chrome-finished components, as against a blacked-out finish on the other models. The bike also receives a comfortable touring saddle for longer rides.

Despite its retro appearance, Royal Enfield hasn’t hesitated to give the Meteor 350 Aurora a plethora of techie features. It comes with tripper navigation as standard, as well as LED lights all around. To elevate the bike’s fit and finish, the Meteor also receives aluminum switch cubes for a more upmarket look. Furthermore, would-be owners of the Royal Enfield Meteor 350, regardless of the variant of choice, have the option to configure their bikes with a selection of accessories via the Royal Enfield Make It Yours (MIY) configurator.

Like before, the 2024 Royal Enfield Meteor 350 is powered by a 349cc, air cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine. It pumps out a decent 20.4 horsepower and 19 pound-feet of torque. The Meteor 350 has a low seat height and a weight of just 191 kilograms, making it accessible to a wide range of riders. Although the new colors have yet to be announced in the US, there’s a chance that they will be soon. For now, however, the Meteor 350 carries an MSRP starting at $4,699.

New Benelli TRK 702 Enjoying Successful Sales In Italy

Benelli, a motorcycle brand that is experiencing rapid growth, is part of the Qianjiang Group in China, with its origins tracing back to Italy. The company continuously introduces new models in the Chinese market, but one model has stood out in the global market, particularly in Italy: the new Benelli TRK702.

The Benelli TRK 702 has achieved an impressive milestone by registering over 1,000 motorcycles in the Italian market in just a little over a month since its debut. This success can be attributed to Benelli’s strategy of offering an affordable middleweight ADV at just 7,490 Euros (about $7,898 USD). This mirrors the approach that made its predecessor, the TRK 502 model, popular in the Italian ADV segment.

Speaking about the success of the new model, Gianni Monni, Benelli’s sales manager in Italy, stated, “We are proud of the extraordinary result that the new TRK 702 is obtaining on the Italian market, in just over a month more than a thousand examples have been registered and, if we consider that all this is happening at the end of the commercial season, the satisfaction is even bigger. In the coming months, we believe we can further increase this performance, not forgetting that all those who had the patience to wait for our model to arrive on the market are the true architects of this success.”

The Benelli TRK 702 features a 698cc parallel-twin engine with liquid-cooling and fuel-injection, offering impressive performance. It generates 75 horsepower at 8,750 rpm and 68.2 pound-feet of torque at 6,250 rpm.

The bike utilizes a frame design based on the smaller 502 model, incorporating a steel trellis structure that enhances stiffness and reduces weight for improved handling. Its suspension setup includes 50 mm inverted forks at the front with 5.5 inches of travel and a preload-adjustable mono-shock at the rear, offering 6.8 inches of travel for versatility across various terrains. Dual-channel ABS is equipped on the bike’s two 320 mm front disc brakes and a 260 mm rear disc brake, ensuring enhanced safety on the road.

Notably, the PM-01 features a unique front light cluster design inspired by Peugeot cars. Looking ahead, Peugeot plans to introduce the PM-03, a 300cc motorcycle, in the first quarter of 2024 to further diversify its product lineup.

BSA Gold Star 650 Delay

It’s worth mentioning that Peugeot has decided not to participate in the EICMA 2023 exhibition in Milan. Instead, the company is redirecting its trade fair investments toward Eastern markets. At the same time, Peugeot is making significant strides in the electric segment. This includes expanding its electric vehicle range and plans to introduce the e-Streetzone scooter. Furthermore, Peugeot Motocycles is actively investing in the development of battery-powered motorcycles, demonstrating a growing commitment to electric mobility solutions.

In terms of the BSA Gold Star, it will benefit from Peugeot’s expanding sales network in Italy and other parts of Europe. This retro-inspired motorcycle is equipped with a 652cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine. It offers a respectable power output of 46 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 55 Newton-meters (38.5 pound-feet) of torque at 4,000 rpm.
