Peugeot Motocycles, known for its retro-style and mid-capacity scooters, is set to experience significant growth in the Italian market. As part of this expansion, Peugeot will serve as the distributor for the new BSA Gold Star in Italy. This partnership between Peugeot and BSA is a relatively new development involving the various owners of Peugeot Motocycles.

Peugeot Motocycles has been under the ownership of German company Mutares since the beginning of 2023. Meanwhile, Mahindra & Mahindra, the previous owner of Peugeot, remains a shareholder in the company. Interestingly, Mahindra & Mahindra is also a key stakeholder in BSA. With this connection, Peugeot plans to utilize its enhanced distribution network to promote the new Gold Star in the Italian market. This strategic alliance holds exciting opportunities for both Peugeot and BSA in Italy.

In Italy, Peugeot Motocycles has significantly expanded its sales network, adding 43 dealers to reach a total of 144, which is a notable increase from the previous year. The company is also preparing to launch the PM-01, a 125cc naked bike targeting the premium entry-level market with a price above 4,000 euros. Notably, the PM-01 features a unique front light cluster design inspired by Peugeot cars. Looking ahead, Peugeot plans to introduce the PM-03, a 300cc motorcycle, in the first quarter of 2024 to further diversify its product lineup.

It’s worth mentioning that Peugeot has decided not to participate in the EICMA 2023 exhibition in Milan. Instead, the company is redirecting its trade fair investments toward Eastern markets. At the same time, Peugeot is making significant strides in the electric segment. This includes expanding its electric vehicle range and plans to introduce the e-Streetzone scooter. Furthermore, Peugeot Motocycles is actively investing in the development of battery-powered motorcycles, demonstrating a growing commitment to electric mobility solutions.

In terms of the BSA Gold Star, it will benefit from Peugeot’s expanding sales network in Italy and other parts of Europe. This retro-inspired motorcycle is equipped with a 652cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine. It offers a respectable power output of 46 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 55 Newton-meters (38.5 pound-feet) of torque at 4,000 rpm.
