2025 Kia K5 GT-Line Spotted In Parking Lot Without Any Camouflage

Kia recently unveiled the facelifted version of its midsize sedan, the K5. However, the sportier-looking GT-Line variant was not officially revealed. Fortunately, a new video has emerged, showcasing the GT-Line model parked in a South Korean parking lot. The Beaverette: Britain’s Unique Armored Car From World War II

The Beaverette, a peculiar armored car from World War II, was built on a regular four-wheel “Saloon” car chassis that had leaf-spring suspension. To ensure protection for its crew members, the British added 11mm-thick steel plating and backed it with three inches of oak planking, despite the fact that the vehicle had an open-air design.

Similar to a conventional automobile, the engine was positioned at the front. However, due to its weight of 2.6 tons (5,753 pounds), a double-reduction back axle was installed to handle the heavier load. The Beaverette could only reach a maximum speed of 24mph.

7 Changes Made to Convert Toyota Innova Hycross Strong Hybrid into a Flex Fuel Model


These changes were necessary to adapt the engine to the properties of ethanol-rich fuel.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari recently introduced the Toyota Innova Hycross flex fuel prototype, which is capable of running on a greener fuel with up to 85 percent ethanol blend. The prototype uses the Hycross’ 2-liter strong-hybrid petrol powertrain, allowing the car to switch between fuel and electricity for propulsion.

However, in order to accommodate the high percentage of ethanol blending, Toyota had to make several changes to the locally-manufactured engine and related components. Here are the key changes made to ensure compatibility with E85 fuel:

1. Motor Driven VVT

In order to address cold start issues with ethanol vehicles, changes have been made to the Innova Hycross engine to enable it to start in temperatures as low as -15 degrees Celsius.

2. Improved Corrosion-Resistance Within The Engine

Due to ethanol’s acidic nature and higher water absorption, the engine is at a higher risk of corrosion. To combat this, the flex fuel prototype is equipped with ethanol-compatible spark plugs, valves, valve seats, and piston rings that resist corrosion and improve wear and tear.

3. Three-Way Catalyst

Ethanol-powered cars require a more advanced three-way catalyst to significantly reduce emissions. Ethanol combustion produces different hydrocarbons and emissions compared to regular petrol engines, so a different catalyst is necessary to comply with BS6 phase 2 norms.

4. High Pressure Fuel Injectors

Ethanol requires higher temperatures to burn compared to gasoline, so the Hycross engine employs high-pressure fuel injectors that provide the required flow rate and are resistant to heat and corrosion.

5. Changes To The Fuel Tank

The Innova Hycross flex fuel prototype is equipped with anti-oxidant materials and coatings in the fuel tank and fuel pipe to prevent corrosion and rusting, ensuring smooth fuel flow over a longer period of time.

6. Ethanol Sensor

The flex fuel MPV version of the Hycross features an ethanol sensor that measures the concentration of ethanol in the fuel. The system can also assess the current blend of fuel in the tank to ensure smooth engine operation, even with lower blend ratios like E20.

7. Changes To The ECU

The Hycross flex fuel ECU determines the electronically controlled functions of the engine based on the percentage of ethanol blend detected by the ethanol sensor. This allows the engine to seamlessly operate on different ethanol blends, ranging from E20 to E85, as well as petrol, making it a true flex fuel vehicle.

The Innova Hycross flex fuel prototype can run on electric power 60 percent of the time and biofuel for the remainder. This makes it more economical and environmentally-friendly compared to a flex fuel car running solely on ethanol.

However, further testing and calibration are required before the vehicle is ready for the Indian market. By 2025, all vehicles in India will need to be E20 compatible, and the Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid flex fuel could be ready for production in another 3 to 4 years.

2024 Mitsubishi Triton Sports Truck Shown Alongside Specialized Versions

Mitsubishi revealed the new Triton, showcasing not only the regular production model and the rally truck but also a variety of fully accessorized versions. The midsize pickup, also known as the L200 and Strada in some markets, was presented in a “Lifestyle Zone” with different styles. Mitsubishi emphasizes that the Triton is truly all-new, featuring a tougher ladder frame, a lighter high-tensile steel body, and an overhauled suspension with a front double-wishbone setup and a rear leaf spring arrangement. The models equipped with Super Select 4WD-II also include Active Yaw Control (AYC) and offer five modes for the 4×4 system along with seven driving modes.

The 2024 Triton will face tough competition right from the start, as the Ford Ranger has already transitioned to its next-generation model. The Ford-built Volkswagen Amarok is also based on the Ranger and serves as the foundation for the new Amarok, except in South America where VW Commercial Vehicles still produces the first-generation Amarok.

Discover How Honda Odyssey Performs With Additives Instead of Engine Oil

Engine oil is a crucial component for combustion engines, as it needs regular replacement to prevent potential disasters. Additives are designed to address different engine problems and improve the performance of the oil. But how effective are these additives when used without base oil? Garage54, a YouTube channel, recently conducted an experiment to find out.

The team selected a Honda Odyssey equipped with the automaker’s F23 engine, which was used in Honda vehicles during the 1990s and early 2000s. They drained the engine oil and then flushed the engine. Subsequently, they mixed various oil additives to create a concentrated mixture, forming an oily, greenish-brown substance that they poured directly into the engine.

Before replacing the oil with additives, the Odyssey’s engine was already experiencing issues. Smoke would billow from the tailpipe under heavy throttle. Unfortunately, the additives did not resolve the smoking problem and instead made it worse. As the van drove around town, the smoke changed from blue to gray, eventually leading to large puffs of black smoke accompanied by a loud bang from the exhaust pipe. Nevertheless, despite all the abuse, the Honda Odyssey survived the short test.

To measure any changes in the engine, the Garage54 team monitored the oil pressure in each cylinder. While two cylinders experienced a drop in oil pressure, one remained unchanged, and the fourth showed a slight increase. However, these changes were negligible, and the Honda Odyssey continued to perform without any issues during an extended overnight trip, totaling an additional 62 miles (100 kilometers).

Since the engine did not fail during the experiment, the team decided to reverse the process. They drained the additives, which had turned black, from the van and replaced them with fresh, thicker motor oil before taking the vehicle for another spin. Although the van still emitted smoke from the exhaust, using additives did not appear to cause any significant problems.

Anyone who has visited an auto parts store may have noticed the assortment of miracle fluids designed to prolong the lifespan of older vehicles. These fluids aim to enhance the positive aspects of the engine oil or counteract undesirable effects by modifying the oil’s formula.
