BMW R 18 Owners, Check Out This Fancy Leather Strap For Your Smartphone

It goes without saying that riding a classic-inspired machine is, as the Gen Z say it, a total vibe. That said, with all the modern technology we depend on in our day-to-day lives, integrating them with the classic styling of, say, a BMW R 18, can be a total vibe-killer. Luckily, the moto industry is full of talented minds that do a great job of concealing these gadgets.

BMW R 18 Owners, Check Out This Fancy Leather Strap For Your Smartphone

Let’s start with something as simple as a smartphone. Everyone has one, as it’s pretty much essential for pretty much everything we do. As it would turn out, it’s also a handy tool to have when riding, as you can stay connected to the world and access important apps like Google Maps or Spotify as you ride. While there are tons of phone mounts in the market, they just won’t cut it if you want to maintain that classic, barebones look. This is where products like this leather panel from Hornig come in handy.

Hornig is a rather popular aftermarket brand known for its handcrafted accessories and upgrades for a bunch of bikes. This simple yet effective (and expensive) leather panel straps on top of the BMW R 18’s fuel tank, and is essentially a phone mount for hipsters who think stuff like a Quad Lock are just too mainstream.

Hornig’s leather strap has a built-in smartphone pocket with a clear plastic cover allowing you to use your phone as a secondary display mounted on the tank. There seems to be ample room to fit even bigger smartphones, as Hornig says that the phone pocket has a width of 81mm (3.1 inches), a length of 195mm (7.7 inches), and a height of about 12mm (0.5 inches). The strap is offered in two colors consisting of black and brown, and very easily straps onto both ends of the bike’s tank.

As I mentioned earlier, the Hornig tank strap commands quite a premium. For 219.90 Euros, or about $240 USD, it’s definitely a hefty investment for a product of its type.

CCM’s Commissioned Program Offers Custom Builds Straight From The Factory

Many custom bike owners enjoy the process of building their dream machine and carefully selecting each part. However, some people prefer to have a custom bike right out of the factory. Many manufacturers offer this option, especially with the popularity of neo-retro bikes. CCM, a British motorcycle manufacturer known for its compact, stylish, and retro-inspired motorcycles, takes this concept to the next level with its Commissioned program.

CCM is known for its small production runs and premium price tags, with the Spitfire being central to the brand’s model lineup. The Commissioned program enhances the Spitfire’s customizability, allowing for a wide range of personalization. The only fixed components are the bike’s frame and 600cc single-cylinder engine.

Customers can configure the Spitfire in various ways, including dirt trackers, bobbers, retro-inspired motards, and rally-inspired machines. Additionally, they can choose from a selection of wheel and tire combinations, subframes, and body panels for a unique aesthetic.

While CCM’s motorcycles are already expensive, using the Commissioned program will add at least $10,000 to the base price of $15,500. This raises the question of whether the in-house customization is worth the premium price tag or if it’s better to commission a custom build from a third-party builder.

If you’re interested in the Commissioned program or want to explore the available configurations, you can visit CCM’s official website. Additionally, you can fill out a form on the Commissioned program’s landing page to get in touch with the company to start creating your dream custom bike.

It Costs $33,000 To Replace A McLaren F1’s Windshield

The McLaren F1 is an expensive machine. Not only does it cost tens of millions of dollars to purchase, but thanks to a dwindling parts supply and highly specialized maintenance requirements, it’s expensive to maintain, too. A windshield replacement alone will run you $33,000, Motor1 has learned.

We suspect there are only two people on earth who would actually care about that number: The two McLaren F1 owners whose windshields cracked during last weekend’s Velocity Invitational event at Sonoma Raceway in California. A video published to Instagram from the paddock shows the two cars each sporting sizable cracks on their respective front windscreens:

A source familiar with McLaren F1 replacement costs confirmed to Motor1 the price for the glass itself is $25,000, plus another $8,000 to cover installation fees. That means the damage in the video above equates to about $66,000 worth of damage. Just for a couple of windshield cracks.

Another source familiar with F1 parts told Motor1 there are still a small handful of original replacement windshields sitting in storage at McLaren’s headquarters in the United Kingdom, so it’s not like these owners will have to shell out to have new pieces made. In fact, this source tells us McLaren Special Operations is planning to engineer and commission new windshields for the F1, so owners won’t be out of luck once the supply runs out in the future.

The windscreen isn’t even the first part McLaren has reengineered to elongate the F1’s service life. Our source told us the factory has begun producing aluminum fuel tanks and wheels to replace the aging magnesium units. So if you own an F1, rest assured that you’ll never be wanting for factory parts support.

The 2023 linkage pull rod nuts are not self-locking and are prone to fall off/come loose. Our replacement nut is a Fuji-style self-locking nut that will replace the 2 OEM nuts on the linkage pull rod. The front linkage nut has a flat flange on one side that sits against the frame, and our Fuji-style self-locking nut does not need this flange as we go from the 19mm with a flange stock to a 22mm with no flange providing more clamping force and a self-locking feature that will give you peace of mind.

The Honda CR250 in 1987 was an excellent bike, especially in the desert enduro world. It had a powerful and smooth motor, making it versatile for different riding conditions. The bike performed well in both motocross and off-road scenarios. The photo shows the bike outside of Charlie’s Place during a District 37 Enduro event. It’s worth mentioning that the following year, Honda made changes to the bike that affected its performance negatively, such as fitting an Upside Down Fork and modifying the chassis.

2024 MV Agusta Superveloce 98 Edizione Limitata Honors MV’s Very First Bike

In October 13, 2023, MV Agusta introduced its latest limited-edition motorcycle, the MV Agusta Superveloce 98 Edizione Limitata, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the company’s first-ever motorcycle. To understand the significance, let’s take a closer look at both bikes.

In 1943, during a time when personal transportation was challenging due to the war, Domenico Agusta believed that a motorized two-wheeled vehicle could offer a practical solution. The result was the MV Agusta 98cc single-cylinder motorcycle. However, it was only after the war that full-scale production began.

The 1945 MV Agusta 98 featured a striking burgundy color, which inspired the design of the 2023 Superveloce 98 Edizione Limitata. Only 300 of these bikes will be produced and sold worldwide, primarily to the brand’s loyal collectors.

The 2024 MV Agusta Superveloce 98 Edizione Limitata features a unique color known as Rosso Verghera. This color is hand-applied in multiple phases to enhance its metallic sparkle. It is a color developed exclusively for MV Agusta, using advanced materials and techniques.

MV Agusta is well-known for its limited edition motorcycles, and as customary for these special models, the Superveloce 98 Edizione Limitata comes with a certificate of authenticity, a number plaque, and a special Race Kit box upon purchase.

The Race Kit includes a tailor-made cover for the Superveloce 98 Edizione Limitata, a tail cover, the certificate of authenticity, a track-use-only Arrow racing exhaust, and a dedicated racing engine control unit (ECU).

It’s worth noting that customers in North America will not receive the Arrow race exhaust in the box. Instead, it is available as a separate Technical Accessory that can be purchased at an additional cost directly from MV Agusta.

For more information, interested individuals can visit MV Agusta’s website and indicate their interest, where they will be directed to a local dealer in their area.

Have You Seen This Yamaha-R1-Swapped Golf Kart?

A custom golf kart with a Yamaha motor at its core has caught the attention of Grind Hard Plumbing on YouTube. This powerful machine impressed the YouTubers, and for good reason. With 180 horsepower from a pre-crossplane Yamaha motor, this golf kart is a force to be reckoned with.

The specific model of the golf kart, a Textron E-Z-Go, was used as the base for this impressive build. While it is uncertain which exact model it originally was, it is now registered as an “E-Z-Go Golf Kart.”

Yamaha-R1-Swapped Golf Kart?

In addition to the impressive engine swap, the owner also installed a power commander, indicating that the Yamaha R1 from which the motor was sourced is fuel injected. The engine has a displacement of 998cc with either 20 or 16 valves, although it is unclear which generation of the R1 was used. According to the video, it produces “180 horsepower.”

What makes this custom golf kart even more extraordinary is that it was built to be a dune buggy. Despite its off-road capabilities, it performs impressively well on the road. The presence of racing harnesses further emphasizes its performance-oriented nature.

This modified E-Z-Go golf kart features dual-rate Fox Shocks, transforming it into a 180-horsepower dune buggy. While it may no longer be considered a traditional golf kart, its power and capabilities are undeniable.

During the video, there was a minor setback when a CV joint snapped, causing a brief interruption. However, after some adjustments, the kart was back on track, even managing to perform a wheelie. Nevertheless, further work will be required to ensure the reliability of this R1-powered golf kart.

Ranking of Major Espresso Machine Brands from Worst to Best

Lelit, an Italian brand, is recognized as a top-tier manufacturer of espresso machines. Despite being a smaller brand, Lelit has established itself by creating high-quality machines. The company is proud of its Italian heritage, and all Lelit machines are designed and produced in Italy.

Due to the excellent quality they provide, Lelit machines come with a premium price. They are suitable for businesses and charming cafes. However, the cost may be prohibitive for the average household unless they have a significant disposable income or have saved specifically for an espresso machine. Lelit’s entry-level model, the Victoria, costs around $1,000, while their flagship model, the Bianca, can be priced over $3,000. Despite the investment, owners receive a professional-grade espresso machine equipped with top-of-the-line features. Lelit machines are praised for their precise temperature control using electronic sensors, durable stainless steel construction, and stylish design.

While not as large as industrial-style espresso machines, Lelit machines deliver the same level of quality in a compact and visually appealing design. The higher-end models even feature carved wooden handles and knobs, while the entry-level options incorporate plastic elements in their design.

Ryobi Vs DeWalt: Comparing Pressure Washers

When it comes to pressure washers, Ryobi and DeWalt are two popular brands. Let’s take a closer look at the features of each model to determine which one comes out on top.

Ryobi Pressure Washer

The Ryobi pressure washer is equipped with a powerful Ryobi 212 cc engine, delivering an impressive 3200 PSI. It weighs 74 pounds and comes with wheels for easy and safe transportation. The wand of the device has a rotary nozzle with 5 different settings, and it also has an onboard .95-gallon detergent tank. Compared to the DeWalt, the Ryobi pressure washer has a slightly higher water flow rate by .1 GPM.

DeWalt Pressure Washer

The DeWalt pressure washer, on the other hand, is lighter, weighing only 64 pounds. It features a DeWalt 208 cc engine, which provides a slightly higher pressure of 3300 PSI. One advantage of the DeWalt model is its compact form factor, measuring just 21.5 inches in height. In contrast, the Ryobi pressure washer stands at 35 inches in height, making it less convenient for transportation. Another notable feature of the DeWalt pressure washer is its maintenance-free crankcase in the OEM pump, eliminating the need for oil changes.

There are a few differences between the two models. The DeWalt pressure washer comes with 5 quick-connect nozzles, which can be detached from the machine. This means there are four extra components that could potentially get lost. On the other hand, the Ryobi pressure washer offers the convenience of an onboard soap tank, allowing for easy access to detergent. Both models come with a 25-foot hose and a wand included.

In conclusion, while the Ryobi pressure washer may have a slightly higher PSI and an onboard soap tank, the DeWalt pressure washer offers a lighter weight, a compact design, and a maintenance-free crankcase. Ultimately, the choice between the two will depend on your specific needs and preferences.
