Aventador SVJ VS Huracán Tecnica Drag Race Proves Power Isn’t Everything

Hundreds of hundreds of {dollars} can separate completely different Lamborghini fashions from one another. A $200,000 hole lies between the Aventador SVJ and the Huracan Tecnica, however a brand new drag racing video reveals that spending the additional money doesn’t immediately translate into assured quarter-mile victories.

The SVJ makes 770 horsepower from its naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine. That’s 130 greater than the Huracan, however energy is not all the things, clearly. The Aventador weighs 3,910 kilos, whereas the Tecnica, with its 640-hp 5.2-liter V10, suggestions the scales at 3,350 lbs.

It Costs $33,000 To Replace A McLaren F1’s Windshield

The McLaren F1 is an expensive machine. Not only does it cost tens of millions of dollars to purchase, but thanks to a dwindling parts supply and highly specialized maintenance requirements, it’s expensive to maintain, too. A windshield replacement alone will run you $33,000, Motor1 has learned.

We suspect there are only two people on earth who would actually care about that number: The two McLaren F1 owners whose windshields cracked during last weekend’s Velocity Invitational event at Sonoma Raceway in California. A video published to Instagram from the paddock shows the two cars each sporting sizable cracks on their respective front windscreens:

A source familiar with McLaren F1 replacement costs confirmed to Motor1 the price for the glass itself is $25,000, plus another $8,000 to cover installation fees. That means the damage in the video above equates to about $66,000 worth of damage. Just for a couple of windshield cracks.

Another source familiar with F1 parts told Motor1 there are still a small handful of original replacement windshields sitting in storage at McLaren’s headquarters in the United Kingdom, so it’s not like these owners will have to shell out to have new pieces made. In fact, this source tells us McLaren Special Operations is planning to engineer and commission new windshields for the F1, so owners won’t be out of luck once the supply runs out in the future.

The windscreen isn’t even the first part McLaren has reengineered to elongate the F1’s service life. Our source told us the factory has begun producing aluminum fuel tanks and wheels to replace the aging magnesium units. So if you own an F1, rest assured that you’ll never be wanting for factory parts support.

Lexus Heats up the Summer in Partnership with Beyoncé’s RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR and BeyGOOD Foundation

Lexus Commits Nearly Half a Million Dollars to Small, Minority-Owned Businesses

PLANO, Texas (July 26, 2023) – Lexus is joining forces with Beyoncé’s RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR and her BeyGOOD Foundation as the exclusive automotive partner for the U.S. leg of the tour. As part of this partnership, the leading luxury car brand will make a donation to support small, minority-owned businesses.

Lexus will collaborate with BeyGOOD Foundation and its Black Parade Route to provide assistance to small business owners affected by economic disparities, through grants and sustainability support services. In addition to BeyGOOD’s existing commitment, Lexus’ contribution will provide an extra $10,000 each to two grant recipients in all tour cities.

“Lexus is honored to be part of Beyoncé’s RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR and to contribute to BeyGOOD Foundation’s mission of economic equity,” said Mia Phillips, senior manager of advertising and media for Lexus. “We believe that this collaboration will have a significant impact on entrepreneurs in every city we visit.”

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter’s BeyGOOD Foundation launched the Black Parade Route in 2020 to amplify and promote Black-owned and small businesses. Carter pledged $1 million to support small businesses in 10 U.S. cities and regions in the United Kingdom. Throughout the RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR, business impact luncheons will be held in Chicago, New York, Charlotte, N.C., Atlanta, Los Angeles, Houston, and New Orleans to celebrate the grant recipients.

“We are delighted that Lexus is providing support for small business owners across the country through BeyGOOD’s Black Parade Route,” said Ivy McGregor, executive director of BeyGOOD Foundation. “This partnership benefits entrepreneurs, families, and communities as a whole. We believe that everyone deserves economic equity.”

To honor the tour sponsorship and enhance the futuristic theme of the tour, Lexus has created a unique LC 500 vehicle. The car features a premium chrome-wrapped exterior with jewel accents on the mirrors, headlamp surrounds, wheel center caps, and license plate frame. The vehicle will travel with the RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR and will be showcased at an interactive Lexus display within the venues. Concertgoers will have the opportunity to engage with the brand through a photobooth featuring virtual icons from the tour set and an entertaining karaoke booth.

The RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR in the U.S. began on July 12 in Philadelphia and will conclude in Kansas City, Mo., on October 1.
