The fastest-production EVs in the world have leveraged their electrified propulsion techniques to facilitate their unimaginable efficiency capabilities. Leading the cost is the Rimac Nevera. It boasts nearly 2,000 horsepower from 4 electrical motors and hits 60 mph in below two seconds. It’s one of many quickest cars on the planet.

Whether two-door two-seater speedsters or four-door household sedans, from the Tesla Model S Plaid to the Lucid Air Sapphire, the unequalled energy supply creates an ideal driving expertise. The electrified propulsion system is generally related with a single-speed automated transmission of their quad-motor, tri-motor, and dual-motor configurations, besides the dual-speed automated transmission in EVs just like the Aspark Owl.

Unlike inside combustion engines, the moment torque of electrical motors interprets to lightning-fast acceleration, which ensures their 0-60 mph acceleration occasions are normally lower than their gas-powered counterparts, making them sooner to 60 mph. With excellently designed platforms, and batteries sometimes located on the backside of the car contributing to a decrease heart of gravity, weight distribution is optimized. The quickest manufacturing automobiles on the earth are actually principally electrified vehicles, with instantaneous torque, optimized weight distribution, and advances in battery know-how.

In order to provide the most modern and correct data attainable, the info used to compile this text was sourced from the web sites of the producers of the fashions listed. These automobiles have been chosen and organized in ascending order primarily based on their prime pace.

Five Bikes Piqued Earl’s Interest At EICMA 2023

EICMA’s over. The grandest show in the two-wheeled industry has come and gone and this year was quite spectacular. I’m extremely excited for next year and among all the bikes that debuted either as concepts or production models, five really stuck out whether for better or for worse.

Some bikes were undoubtedly good, while others stirred up a bit of controversy. While Enrico and Janaki both loved the bikes that they listed, I’m listing five that either caught my eye, made me question, or split an entire fan base. You could say that these are the bikes that I loved thanks to the stir they caused whether on a personal level or an industry level.

In short, I like a bit of drama. These are the five bikes that I found interesting to cover at EICMA 2023.

2024 MV Agusta LXP Orioli

MV Agusta LXP Orioli

Let’s start off with something easy. I simply love the LXP. Some people are so-so with the model, while I think it looks fantastic. MV’s middleweight adventurer is finally out and after years of teasing and coverage and even a 5.5 model that was canceled, a snide remark from KTM’s head, and even a rename, we finally have it. Five hundred for the initial run and then a full production version after that.

The look of the LXP Orioli strikes me, and so does the inline-three cylinder motor that the brand fitted. Positioned as a versatile luxury adventure bike, it’s meticulously designed to be comfortable, but still capable. Also well-equipped, the bike has everything that you could want from a modern adventure-touring machine which also includes an inertial measurement unit and more. In fact, there were so many features listed in the press release of this model that I really had to sit down and unpack everything that MV Agusta had to say about it. It took me a while to write the article for this model, and as the first bike I covered from the show, it definitely left an impression.

2024 MV Agusta Superveloce 1000

2023 MV Agusta Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro

While the LXP was more or less loved by all, the Superveloce 1000 that was also showcased split the fan base. On the one side, quite a number of people liked the design that MV displayed at this year’s show. However, others weren’t too happy with it. The Superveloce 800 was a well-liked model thanks to its simplicity and its neo-retro aesthetic. However, some purists didn’t take too kindly to the design of the 1000, writing it off as too complicated and not in keeping with the original design philosophy of Massimo Tamburini.

Simplicity is key, and without going into it too deeply, the bike was simply overly designed with a lot of cuts, curves, and too much complexity. The Superveloce 800 had a simple and elegant design, but the Superveloce 1000 wilded out, so to speak. You could say that MV overdid it, but then again I do consider that the brand does up the ante when it comes to their liter-class motorcycles. If you ask me, I think that it’s a hair too wild. While I still like the fact that the Superveloce nameplate is getting another model, it’s not what I was expecting given how the Superveloce 800 impacted me when I first saw it.

2024 KTM 990 Duke

2024 KTM 990 Duke - Parked

I am a KTM 790 Duke owner, and I like how my bike looks. I am biased here. I also used to own a 390 Duke, which I also liked. When the 2024 KTM 390s came out, I was quite excited to see what the Austrian brand had up its sleeve for its next-generation middleweight. I will admit that Team Orange’s design language is not for everyone, and while it appeals to me, it definitely won’t tickle everyone’s fancy, and it’s not as if the 790 Duke was a universally loved bike design-wise.

CFMoto Introduces New 675cc Triple Engine for Performance

Chinese motorcycle manufacturer CFMoto is breaking away from the traditional small-displacement bikes and focusing on high-performance models. At the EICMA 2023 event, CFMoto unveiled its latest engine, a brand-new three-cylinder 675cc engine. While the engine’s specs resemble the iconic Triumph 675cc engine, CFMoto claims it is a completely new design developed in-house.

CFMoto Goes For Performance With Brand-New 675cc Triple

CFMoto highlights that the new 675cc engine is lightweight and durable. The brand implemented a low inertia crank, resulting in quick engine response and acceleration, as well as smooth power delivery. Additionally, CFMoto incorporated an FCC slipper-assist clutch for seamless downshifts and an overall smoother riding experience.

Performance-wise, CFMoto claims the 675cc engine will produce over 100 horsepower and 68 Newton-meters (about 47.6 pound-feet) of torque. Comparatively, the Triumph Daytona 675 produced 123 horsepower and 53 pound-feet of torque. This indicates that CFMoto likely tuned their engine more for street use rather than track performance. The engine also has a rev ceiling of 12,300 rpm and can go from 0 to 62 mph in three seconds.

CFMoto Goes For Performance With Brand-New 675cc Triple

To achieve its low weight, CFMoto designed the engine with forged aluminum, resulting in a 10% weight reduction compared to other three-cylinder engines. The engine weighs just 55 kilograms, making it compact and lightweight. The use of forged aluminum pistons further reduces weight and inertia, resulting in rapid throttle response.

Toyota FJ Cruiser Revival Seems One Step Closer With Land Cruiser FJ Trademark

The 2023 Japan Mobility Show has come and gone, and while Toyota did unveil the rumored Land Hopper, it wasn’t the FJ Cruiser revival we had hoped it would be. It took the shape of a three-wheeled electric mobility concept for people aged 16 or older to tackle the urban jungle. Fast forward to today, we might now have an idea of how the baby off-roader will be ultimately named, courtesy of a new trademark filing in Japan.

Published on the Japanese trademark website “Chizai Watch” where it was discovered by someone from the Land Cruiser Forum is news of a “Land Cruiser FJ” trademark. Toyota submitted its application on October 27 in Class 12, which is reserved for “vehicles; apparatus for locomotion by land, air or water,” according to an official document published on the Japanese government’s website (see PDF).

Toyota SUVs teaser (modified)

When an automaker takes legal measures to secure the rights to a name, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll actually use it for a production model. However, Toyota has seemingly teased the Land Cruiser FJ already. In early August when the U.S.-bound 2024 Land Cruiser 250 (aka Land Cruiser Prado in other markets) was unveiled, the event ended with shadowy profiles of two SUVs in the background. The one on the right turned out to be the electric Land Cruiser concept we saw at the Japan Mobility Show last week while the one on the left with the tailgate-mounted spare tire hasn’t been introduced.

Toyota might’ve provided a first glimpse at the smaller off-roader way back in late 2021 when it showed the Compact Cruiser concept pictured below. All these signs point to a reboot of the FJ Cruiser, not long after its demise. The model bowed out of the United States after the 2014 model year, but it remained in production until a few months ago when the last example of the Final Edition for the Middle East was assembled. Yes, the FJ Cruiser was in production for a whopping 17 years.

It sure looks as though Toyota wants to turn the Land Cruiser into a family of models, much like the Crown now has four members while the Century has two. Logic tells us the already available Land Cruiser 250 and 300 models are likely to be joined by that purely electric variant and this smaller derivative. The latter is said to get gasoline and hybrid powertrains while having roughly the same size as the Corolla Cross but with body-on-frame architecture.

external_image

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ trademark

Nothing is official at this point, but Japan’s Best Car magazine wrote a while ago the FJ Cruiser revival will use a shortened GA-F architecture. Later in the life cycle, there might be a fully electric variant but take these details with the proverbial pinch of salt.

Toyota wouldn’t be the first automaker to use an iconic name intended for off-roaders on a downsized vehicle as Ford has the Bronco Sport while Mercedes is plotting a “Little G.”

TONY CAIROLI AND KTM PART WAYS

In a surprising turn of events, Tony Cairoli and Red Bull KTM have announced their professional separation after a longstanding collaboration of over a decade. Cairoli, an accomplished motocross racer who transitioned into a successful team manager, had seemed destined to continue his future with KTM. However, both parties have now decided to pursue new professional goals for 2024. Below is the official statement from KTM:

A long and fruitful relationship between KTM and Tony Cairoli will come to an end this year as they go their separate ways. They part on good terms, with both wishing each other the best in their future endeavors.

Cairoli, who hails from Sicily, joined Red Bull KTM Factory Racing in late 2009. He made an immediate impact in his first season in 2010 by winning the MX1 (now ‘MXGP’) title with the KTM 350 SX-F. He then went on to win an additional four consecutive titles. In 2017, Cairoli secured the championship with the KTM 450 SX-F. Throughout his twelve-year tenure, he has been a well-respected ambassador for the team, the company, and the sport, retiring from Grand Prix racing at the end of 2021.

After retiring from racing, Cairoli took on the role of Team Manager for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing in 2023. However, he has now decided to explore a different path in his post-racing career.

KTM, together with everyone at the Pierer Mobility Group, expresses their gratitude to Tony for his energy, excellence, and the unforgettable motocross memories he has created.

It’s not a typical retro-ADV, but a modern interpretation of the classic Enduro template. And in the Rally avatar, the bike looks even better. It’s no longer understated; it gets a flashier treatment with its new livery and some off-roading add-ons, but it still stays true to its form-meets-function philosophy. It’s so gorgeous.

6 Tires With More Drip Than Your Jordans

The DesertX Rally comes with a significant improvement in the tires and wheel department. The wheels are made of Takasago Excel rims, traditional carbon steel spokes, and billet hubs. These wheels can be fitted with a selection of three tires: Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR as standard, Scorpion Rally for off-road use, and Scorpion Trail II for road use. The only downside in this department is the use of tubes — tubeless spoked wheels would’ve been excellent.

5 The Brakes Belong On A Sport Bike

Ducati does not mess around when it comes to braking systems, and the same philosophy carries over with the DesertX Rally — the brakes are excellent. The braking system uses twin 320mm rotors with radially mounted four-piston Brembo Monoblock calipers on the front and a 265mm rotor with a dual-piston caliper on the rear, which offer excellent braking performance. The brakes are so good they may sometimes overpower the tires; thankfully, Bosch cornering ABS has your back there.

The Ducati DesertX Rally features the 937cc Ducati Testastretta 11° L-twin, producing a linear power delivery right from the get-go. While the gear ratios are optimized for road use, the punchy nature of this engine allows the bike to get through the most challenging terrain without any fuss. Ducati has a tendency to use this engine in a variety of bikes, ranging from the Monster + to the Supersport 950, but it feels right at home on this ADV, too.

3 Superb Pro-Spec Suspension For The Roughest Terrain

The biggest upgrade the DesertX Rally gets over the base variant is the longer travel suspension. The suspension is race-derived, using the same tech that’s used on pro-level enduro and motocross motorcycles. The front suspension is also equipped with a new billet aluminum triple clamp that’s lighter and stronger, which holds the closed-cartridge KYB forks. There’s also the Öhlins steering damper to improve stability at high speeds. The rear uses a fully adjustable large piston shock with an aluminum swingarm with a different attachment point for improved off-road ability.

2 One Of The Most Capable Middleweight ADVs

2024 Ducati DesertX Rally
Ducati

The DesertX has always been an amazing off-road-oriented ADV, but the DesertX Rally dials it all to 11, becoming one of the most capable adventure bikes ever built. The things that make it a better off-roader include the suspension, L-twin engine, grippy tires, and lighter wheels. Other add-ons like the forged carbon sump guard, off-road-oriented gear and brake levers, and a functional beak only sweeten the deal. We await to see the DesertX Rally competing against other off-road-oriented ADVs in its segment, band we wouldn’t be surprised if the DesertX Rally comes out on top.

1 A Slightly Higher But Totally Worth It Price Tag

2024 Ducati DesertX Rally
Ducati

It’s a Ducati, so we obviously didn’t expect it to sit anywhere near the $15,000 mark, but it still feels a bit expensive. Remember, the base DesertX costs $17,995, but the DesertX Rally can be yours for $22,995 in the US and $26,295 in Canada. If you ask us, the DesertX Rally is worth every penny despite the higher price tag for what it offers: capability, style, and riding experience.

This Is the First Electric Toyota Land Cruiser

The Toyota Land Cruiser has undergone significant changes in recent years. The large, luxurious truck that was once associated with the name has been replaced by a smaller truck with a four-cylinder engine and retro styling. However, this transformation is specific to the American market, as the Land Cruiser is available in various sizes and shapes globally.

The latest addition to the Land Cruiser lineup is the Land Cruiser Se, which is the first all-electric model to bear the LC badge. Toyota released limited details about the Se on a Friday night in the US, a strategic move to garner attention.

Toyota Land Cruiser Se

Toyota has revealed that the Land Cruiser Se will provide a high-torque battery-electric driving experience and feature three rows of seating. The company emphasizes the quietness of this electric Land Cruiser in urban environments and on-road situations, indicating its focus on pavement driving rather than off-roading.

Despite its intended use on paved roads, the Land Cruiser Se boasts a monocoque design that Toyota claims enhances its responsiveness and capability on rough terrain. However, the truck’s design, low clearances, and low-profile tires suggest that the rough terrain Toyota refers to might be a poorly paved mall parking lot. In terms of dimensions, the LC is approximately 202.0 inches long, 78.0 inches wide, and 67.0 inches tall, making it similar in size to the Grand Highlander. While the Grand Highlander is a great vehicle, it is not typically associated with off-roading prowess.

Toyota Land Cruiser Se

Toyota has not disclosed further details about the Land Cruiser Se, such as the number of motors, power output, or battery size. However, to compete with vehicles like the Rivian R1S, the Land Cruiser Se will likely require robust features and a premium price tag. Despite the limited information available, the Land Cruiser Se has an appealing muscular and handsome appearance, which will undoubtedly make it a popular choice. However, it is more likely to be seen at Moab Elementary school than on rugged off-road trails.
