Impressions that last in the new all-electric Volvo EX90 SUV

Remember the cool, smooth touch of the polished pebble you picked up during that beach walk many summers ago. Or the velvety feel of your old bottle-green armchair, and how the gentle resistance of its tiny fibres created a slight friction against your fingers.

The way our minds can hold on to tactile memories is remarkable, and it’s these simple encounters that remind us of the power of touch. Even the briefest connection can leave an everlasting sensation, so that decades later we can recall it as vividly as if we experienced it yesterday.

When our designers created the interior of our Volvo EX90 SUV, they picked materials that create lasting impressions. Materials from natural, recycled, and renewable sources. Materials that feel good and do good. Together with the design, it’s an expression of our company’s values and Scandinavian foundations.

“I work with an amazing team – they’re very much motivated by the values of our brand and meaningful design,” says Lisa Reeves, Head of Interior Design at Volvo Cars. “We have worked to redefine luxury by using more sustainable lightweight materials that really feel tactile and are of great premium quality.”

Natural, recycled and certified materials
This reinterpretation of luxury means that excess and conventional fabric make way for circularity and the progressive Nordico material.

The Nordico upholstery, created from textiles made from recycled material such as PET bottles, as well as bio-attributed polymer from forests in Sweden and Finland, sets a new standard for premium interior design.

“Our designers have put so much effort into designing the grain you can feel on the surface of the Nordico material,” says Lisa Reeves, referring to the intricate texture of ridges and valleys – like miniature landscapes.

Another EX90 upholstery option is our Nativa™-certified wool blend seat finishing, a fabric certified according to strict sustainability standards on animal welfare, environmental, and social issues. It has also obtained the Performance Certification from the Woolmark Company.

Together with FSC™-certified wood panels around the cabin and carpets partly consisting of regenerated polyamide, these material choices make sure that the Volvo EX90 consists of almost 50 kilogrammes of recycled plastics and bio-based materials – the highest amount of non-primary fossil-based materials in our line-up of cars.

The Volvo EX90 also allows you to customize your car’s interior by choosing between seven different ‘rooms’. Inspired by the Scandinavian lifestyle and its close connection to nature, each room provides a different mood, thanks to our designers’ thoughtful selection of color, upholstery, and material finish. And with the SunLike LEDs lighting the cabin with near-sunlight and enabling a more natural color expression, the wood deco and progressive materials of the Volvo EX90 stand out more clearly.

“Eagles for Education”: BMW International Open 2023 promotes equal opportunity in education.

+++ BMW Group donates 1,000 euros per eagle during the tournament rounds +++ Donation goes to the “JOBLINGE” and “Kick ins Leben” organisations +++ BMW extends long-term commitment to education and future prospects for all +++ Takumi Kanaya (JPN) hits the first eagle of the tournament with an ace on the 12th hole +++

Munich.
BMW is strengthening its long-term commitment to education with the “Eagles for Education” campaign at the 34th BMW International Open. The BMW Group will donate 1,000 euros for every eagle achieved by the many top-class pros during the week of the tournament at Golfclub München Eichenried. The money will go to the “JOBLINGE” and “Kick ins Leben” organisations, with which the BMW Group has been cooperating in Munich for many years.

With the “Eagles for Education” campaign, BMW Group aims to support underprivileged children and young persons in Munich. The campaign will donate 1,000 euros for every eagle scored during the tournament to the “JOBLINGE” and “Kick ins Leben” organisations. This initiative aligns with BMW’s social responsibility and their efforts to promote better qualifications and educational opportunities for these individuals.

The first eagle of the tournament was achieved by Takumi Kanaya, a Japanese professional golfer, during Thursday’s opening round. Kanaya hit a hole-in-one on the 12th hole, setting a perfect start for the campaign.

The “JOBLINGE” initiative, launched in 2008 by the BMW Group’s Eberhard von Kuenheim Foundation, aims to support low-skilled and unemployed young people through a six-month program. During the program, participants learn on the job, improve their key qualifications, and develop their social skills with the goal of securing a job or training position. The initiative is supported by JOBLINGE staff and voluntary mentors, including BMW employees.

According to the CEO of JOBLINGE, every eagle at the BMW International Open represents new prospects for young people. The partnership between BMW Group and the “Eagles for Education” campaign continues to promote equal opportunities and educational equality, benefiting both the individuals and society as a whole.

The “Kick ins Leben” foundation, in collaboration with the BMW Group since 2019, supports young people facing disadvantages by providing them with early education and guiding them towards successful professional careers. The foundation works with children and youngsters in the Milbertshofen district, where BMW is also located. Together, they create extracurricular education opportunities and a platform for equal opportunities in the professional world. The young people have the opportunity to visit the BMW Group plant in Munich and receive mentoring from BMW employees.

The founder of “Kick ins Leben” expresses gratitude for the longstanding cooperation with the BMW Group, particularly in the disadvantaged Milbertshofen district. This partnership has made a difference in the lives of individuals in need.

BMW has a long-standing commitment to education in golf. Through the BMW Championship in the USA, the company has raised millions of dollars for the “Evans Scholar Foundation” since 2007, funding thousands of college scholarships for caddies.

The “Eagles for Education” campaign now joins BMW’s commitment at the BMW International Open in Munich. In golf, an eagle is achieved when a player takes two shots less than par (the standard score) on a hole. Last year’s BMW International Open saw a total of 73 eagles.

The Controversial Tech Behind The Missing Titanic Submersible

CBS reporter David Pogue was part of a Titan crew in 2022, during which he revealed some concerning details about the design of the submersible vessel. Pogue mentioned that the vessel was operated using a modified Logitech F710 wireless game controller, with custom sticks replacing the direction joysticks for improved navigation.

There is a comparison to be made with the U.S. Navy’s use of Xbox 360 controllers for its submarines. However, there is an important distinction: the Navy utilizes the controller to operate periscopes, not for maneuvering the submarine itself. Furthermore, the Logitech F710 is an inexpensive controller that was first introduced over a decade ago. Given the gravity of the situation, it seems peculiar to rely on such an old and economical controller for such a critical task.

Additionally, the submersible reportedly only has a single button inside for turning it on, with the rest of the control systems relying on computers and digital displays. This is similar to the trend in modern cars, where buttons and dials are being replaced by touch screens. While this design was intended to make operating the submersible easier, it could become problematic if the vessel loses all electrical power, especially since it relies on Starlink for communications.

Lifted 2023 Volkswagen Golf R Is A Pricey All-Terrain Hot Hatch

Only 7,735 Golf Country cars were produced by Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Austria. Now, a new custom-built Golf R based on the current model aims to revive the spirit of the Golf Country.

Off-road specialist Delta4x4 has previewed this unique Golf R, which aims to explore new territories that no other Golf R has ventured into before. The Best Free Games Every Nintendo Switch Owner Should Have Installed

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in late 2020, a group of developers from Nintendo EPD released a free-to-play game called “Jump Rope Challenge.” The game was created to help players stay active and have fun while at home. Originally, it was planned to be removed from the Nintendo store in September of that year, but for some reason, Nintendo decided to keep it available.

Jump Rope Challenge is a very simple game. All you need to do is hold a pair of Joy-Cons at your sides and jump! The game keeps track of how many jumps you do each day, with a goal of 100 jumps. However, you can also set your own goal and pace if you prefer. If you want more of a challenge, you can try doing double-under jumps or even jump in tandem with a friend by passing a Joy-Con. Since its release, the game has received small updates with cosmetic additions like different backgrounds and character costumes inspired by other well-known Nintendo games.
