Kimera Evo38 set to launch as rally weapon impressed by Lancia 037

Italian motorsport agency Kimera Automobili is making ready to launch the Evo38 – the newest iteration of its considerably modernised and up to date tackle the Lancia 037 Stradale.

Set to be unveiled on 22 February earlier than showing on the Geneva motor present, it’s going to have wide-reaching dynamic revisions to make it much more potent than its predecessor, the Evo37, together with the introduction of four-wheel drive.

Said by the model to be “the Group B [car] that everyone would have wanted and that never came to be”, the road-legal rally racer will likely be proven at Geneva sporting the enduring Team Martini Racing livery and is predicted to characteristic a slight evolution in design from its predecessor.

Official preview photos present a silhouette just like each the Evo37 from 2021 and the legendary 037 Stradale. It will get round daytime-running lights harking back to the Delta S4, two crimson grille openings, a big bumper-width rear spoiler, and aero-optimised entrance and rear wings.

The model mentioned the Evo38 will “take up the philosophy and spirit of a legendary team that had brought Italian technical excellence to the world, which wanted once again to surpass its limits, and progressively to improve its creation.”

The previous Evo37 was powered by a 2.1-litre twin-turbocharged four-pot, producing 500bhp, 369lb ft and a claimed 0-62mph time of three.0sec. Power was despatched to the rear wheels through a six-speed guide gearbox.

Official efficiency figures for the Evo38 have but to be launched. However, we anticipate it to ship much more spectacular numbers than the Evo37, thanks partially to the introduction of four-wheel drive.

Rimac Focusing on Reducing Weight in Future Cars and Exploring Track Specials

Rimac Automobili, fresh off its record-breaking performance at the Nurburgring with the Nevera, is looking for ways to further improve its performance. One area of focus is reducing weight in its future electric supercars, especially if Rimac wants to enter the racing scene.

During a celebration of the Nevera Time Attack special edition at The Quail, Chief Technology Officer Emilio Scervo discussed the possibility of a track version of the Nevera. He stated that the company should focus on making it lighter and explore other tweaks to enhance its stiffness and driver connection.

While Scervo did not confirm the development of track-only sports cars like the Maserati MCXtrema, he acknowledged the potential areas for improvement in the Nevera. Lighter-weight electrical components and a battery that resists range degradation during full-acceleration moments could contribute to reducing the car’s weight further.

The current weight of the Nevera is 5,071 pounds, but despite its heft, it remains one of the fastest vehicles available. A test drive during last year’s Monterey Car Week demonstrated the car’s incredible acceleration, reaching 60 mph in just 1.9 seconds. The Nevera also impressed with its exceptional grip and responsive handling, enabling higher cornering speeds than initially expected.

The Nevera’s performance at the Nurburgring validated its capabilities, setting a new lap record for production EVs. It completed a lap in 7 minutes and 5.298 seconds, surpassing the previous record held by the Tesla Model S Plaid with the Track package. Scervo’s comments suggest that there is still potential for even greater performance from the Nevera.

The Pininfarina Pura Vision Concept Previews A New Electric Era

If there’s anything Automobili Pininfarina CEO Paolo Dellachà made clear during my first drive of the Battista last year, the $2.2 million electric hypercar was only the beginning. Although Dellachà didn’t share specifics, he spoke of not just one upcoming model but several. Today the Italian carmaker unveiled the Pura Vision Concept, a design study that previous what the brand’s future products might look like.

Automobili Pininfarina Pura Vision

“PURA Vision is the bridge from our present to an exciting new chapter in the history of Automobili Pininfarina. In our fifth year, we have already celebrated our unique heritage with the introduction of the Battista Edizione Nino Farina. PURA Vision previews an exciting future and shows what can be achieved if we apply our PURA design principles to an entirely new kind of vehicle.” – Paolo Dellachà, Automobili Pininfarina CEO

The Pura Vision introduces what the carmaker calls the Pura design philosophy, which aims to draw inspiration from the brand’s extensive history while breaking new ground in the electric vehicle space. As such, the concept envisions a cabin-focused design that combines coach doors with gullwing-style windows creating massive openings for ingress and egress.

Automobili Pininfarina Pura Vision

Dimensionally, it’s 205 inches long, 85 in wide, and 65 in tall, comparable with a Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Its wheels measure 23 in and wear off-roading rubber. Despite its high-riding nature, however, the Pura Vision still features sizable carbon-fiber elements, such as its rear diffuser and a contrasting black roof topped with a spoiler in the rear to retain a sporty aesthetic.

Given that it doesn’t count on an internal combustion engine, this new lineup of cars should give the carmaker more freedom to explore unused portions and design elements without traditional constraints. Pininfarina has yet to comment on the performance of its upcoming lineup, but if they’re anything like the Battista, they’re sure to be exciting.

One thing is clear. Like the $2.2 million Battista, these upcoming vehicles will target the ultra-luxury segment. The Pura Vision Concept will make its world debut during this year’s Monterey Car Week alongside the Battista Edizione Nino Farina and “another new production vehicle of an equally exquisite, yet different proposition, itself defining a new genre of driving pleasure” says Pininfarina.

Pininfarina Pura Vision SUV Concept: A Stylish Glimpse at the Future of EVs

Automobili Pininfarina has recently revealed the Pura Vision, a cutting-edge design concept that ushers in a “revolutionary new era of electric luxury.”

The Pura Vision is described as an electric Luxury Utility Vehicle (e-LUV) and is set to influence the forthcoming generation of high-end electric vehicles from Automobili Pininfarina.

This new design study will be presented to the public for the first time at Monterey Car Week (August 17-20), where it will be shown alongside the Battista Edizione Nino Farina hyper GT and another upcoming production car from the brand.

Despite not appearing as such in the photos, the Pura Vision is actually quite large, measuring 205.3 inches (5,215 millimeters) in length, 84.5 inches (2,147 mm) in width (including mirrors), and 64.6 inches (1,641 mm) in height.

The concept blends timeless proportions with intricate details. Its low hood and high fenders draw inspiration from the legendary 1947 Cisitalia, which was the first vehicle to be included in the collection of New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).

Why Pagani Won’t Release an Electric Hypercar Anytime Soon

Since its establishment in the early 90s, Pagani Automobili has become one of the leading hypercar manufacturers globally. Known for its combination of stunning body designs and exceptional performance, Pagani cars are more than just vehicles; they are moving pieces of art. Despite the recent shift towards electric vehicles in the auto industry, Pagani has not produced an all-electric model. This raises questions about why a brand at the forefront of the hypercar market hasn’t embraced the electric revolution like other manufacturers such as Rimac and Lotus.

The Hype Around Electric Hypercars

The rise of electric vehicles has introduced exciting new technology to the automotive industry. Electric cars now offer performance capabilities that surpass those of traditional gas-powered vehicles. Companies like Rimac, Pininfarina, and Lotus are leading the way in the development of electric hypercars that outperform their ICE counterparts. These hypercars utilize quad motors, one for each wheel, which allows for instant acceleration and impressive torque. With over 1,900 horsepower, these electric hypercars achieve record-breaking acceleration that internal combustion engine (ICE) models cannot match. Battery technology advancements have played a significant role in enabling the development of these electric hypercars.

In addition to performance, electric batteries now offer a significantly increased range without sacrificing power and speed. Hypercars like the Pininfarina Battista and the Rimac Nevera offer electric ranges above 200 miles while exceeding top speeds of 215 mph. The improvement in battery technology has contributed to the feasibility of electric hypercars and their acceptance in the market.

Pagani’s Hesitations In The EV World

Pagani prides itself on prioritizing the driver’s personal experience and craftsmanship in their vehicles. With a production rate of approximately 50 cars per year, each Pagani car is meticulously crafted with attention to detail. One of Pagani’s core values is to maintain a lightweight design, which poses a significant challenge in the development of an all-electric hypercar. Electric batteries are heavy, with some weighing as much as 3,000 pounds. This weight does not align with Pagani’s philosophy of producing lightweight supercars.

According to Christopher Pagani, the son of the founder Horacio, the current technology does not offer a lightweight electric battery. Therefore, Pagani remains committed to their gas-powered vehicles until better technology becomes available. Additionally, the brand’s customers are not inclined towards electric vehicles. They continue to request lightweight supercars that offer both artistic appeal and exceptional performance. While an electric Pagani hypercar project is in progress, it will take several years before it becomes a reality with the existing technology.

Electric Pagani In The Coming Future

Although the possibility of an electric Pagani in the near future is low, the brand has not ruled out the idea entirely. Pagani initiated research in 2018 to develop lighter electric batteries, aiming to release an electric model by 2024. However, the founder, Horacio Pagani, recently announced that they are pausing EV research to fully focus on producing their V-12 supercars. After four years of exploration, they concluded that the current electric technology would require a battery weighing 1,322 pounds, already more than half the weight of the Huayra R. The brand wants to stay true to its philosophy and satisfy its fans’ desire for lightweight hypercars that provide an unparalleled driving experience.

Despite the current limitations, Pagani acknowledges that trends can change over time. The extension of the deadline for supercar makers to switch to zero-emission vehicles from 2029 to 2035 provides Pagani with more time to develop the necessary technology for an electric model that aligns with their philosophy. While the exact timeline remains uncertain, it will be fascinating to see how Pagani adapts in the coming decade as the world continues to embrace sustainability.
