BMW 5 Series Touring Renderings Imagine Wagon’s Next-Gen Design

Recently, trademark filings provided a glimpse of the design of the next-generation BMW 5 Series Touring wagon. Though the grayscale photos lacked detail, they showcased the variant’s overall styling, which closely resembled the 5 Series sedan that was introduced in May.

Unofficial renderings have now added some color to the trademark photos. These renderings depict a stylish wagon in the M Performance guise, featuring sportier bumpers and appropriate badging.

The main difference in the renderings is the design of the bumpers. The front bumper highlights prominent black trim around the lower grille opening, which is particularly pronounced in the M Performance version. The outboard intakes also include additional glossy black trim.

At the rear, a sporty bumper appliqué covers the rear marker lights in triangular shapes, resembling the M Performance-badged sedan. The wagon also appears lower on its suspension, indicating its sportier nature, and is likely to be larger than the current-generation model. The 5 Series sedan grew by 3.4 inches in length and 1.3 inches in width, improvements that should enhance the wagon’s cargo capacity.

a wide range of powertrain options will be available for the BMW 5 Series. In the US, the entry-level 530i sedan comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, generating 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The 540i, only available with all-wheel drive, is equipped with a straight-six engine that produces 375 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque.

BMW plans to offer a full-fledged M variant for the 5 Series Touring. Spy photographers have spotted test mules at the Nurburgring. While the powertrain details remain undisclosed, indications suggest it may borrow the hybrid powertrain found in the XM SUV. This electrified V8 engine delivers 735 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque, and it is expected that the wagon will have a power output of 718 hp.

The next-generation BMW 5 Series Touring is expected to debut either by the end of this year or in early 2024. The launch of the M5 Touring is likely to follow, as BMW has a history of staggering the release of new models and variants.

A recent spy video captures the upcoming BMW M5 Touring wagon as it cruises on the German Autobahn. While BMW has already started releasing the next-generation 5 Series, the hotter M variants are still being kept a secret for now.

In the video, the wagon is seen covered in full camouflage, but there aren’t many surprises hidden underneath. The M5 sedan and Touring wagon will have similar styling to the regular models, but with more aggressive front and rear fascias and other M touches. Expect a lower ride height, unique wheels, and plenty of badging as well.

Ferrari And Lamborghini Crash Into Camper In Sardinia With Tragic Consequences

Three vehicles touring the Italian island of Sardinia were involved in a collision during the late morning hours on October 2. The video above captures the moment it occurred, showing a motorhome flipping on its side with a Lamborghini skidding off the road. What you don’t see is a Ferrari spinning out of control beyond the motorhome, rolling over and catching fire. Sadly, two occupants in the Ferrari were trapped and lost their lives.

According to the Italian website L’Unione Sarda.it, the crash occurred near San Giovanni Suergiu on highway 195. The video shows several supercars passing the camera, crossing a solid line on the two-lane road with considerable traffic approaching from the opposite direction. A blue Lamborghini Huracan narrowly avoids an oncoming motorcycle as it joins a line of supercars following the camper van.

Only a few moments pass before a red Ferrari Portofino M comes into view, passing the camera and continuing in the opposite lane as supercars further up begin passing the motorhome. The driver of the aforementioned blue Huracan apparently didn’t see the Ferrari coming and moved out to pass just as it arrived. The supercars collide and then hit the motorhome, flipping it over.

L’Unione Sarda.it reports that the occupants in the motorhome and Lamborghini escaped without injury. The victims in the Ferrari were identified as 67-year-old Markus Krautli and his wife, 63-year-old Melissa Krautli. At this point, there is no mention of potential criminal charges for the Lamborghini driver involved in the crash. Reports do say both cars are in the hands of authorities, and they obviously have the video which at this point has been widely shared on social media.

The supercar drivers were reportedly participating in a tour called the Sardinia Supercar Experience. A company called Colcorsa advertises a wide variety of supercar tours in various locations throughout Europe, including one in Sardinia with the same name. However, Colcorsa issued a statement explaining it was not involved with this particular event in any manner, nor had prior knowledge of it occurring.

We are deeply saddened to hear about the tragedy that occurred on Sardinia this week as part of an event referred to as ‘Sardinia Supercar Experience’. To prevent the spread of misinformation we would like to make an official statement in reference to these tragic events. It is a modern, comfortable, road-biased touring motorcycle with similar features to the Adventura. And though the CFMoto bike has a bigger engine, the Benelli is lighter and more nimble. But the bottom line is that it just might come down to looks between these two motorcycles. And for newer riders looking for a little bit of that Italian flare, Benelli may be the right choice.

For the slightly more experience new rider, that has a bit of loose change in their pocket, this middleweight BMW is going to look real attractive. The GS line of BMWs goes a long way back. The German manufacturer knows what they’re doing by now. The F 750 GS is a real premium choice for riders starting to make their way out into the world. It’s got some real get-up-and-go in its two cylinder 853cc engine.

It is purpose-built for long range, road-biased riding. The seat is comfortable and fairly low to the ground at 32.1 inches. But the cool part is that BMW can provide a suspension lowering kit and low seat, which can bring down the height as low as 30.3 inches. That’s perfect for letting beginners have their feet firmly planted at traffic stops, especially since it’s a little on the heavier side at 493 lbs (wet). There are some great premium rider aides included as well, such as dynamic traction control, ABS, rider modes and adjustable brake and clutch levers. But you better watch out for the updated F 800 GS that will launch at the start of next year.

BMW M3 Touring Gets Its Roof Chopped Off with a Purpose

A recent video uploaded on YouTube by the R44 Performance channel showcases a bold transformation as a BMW M3 Touring undergoes an impressive modification—its roof being replaced. However, before your jaw drops, rest assured that there is a good reason behind this dramatic change.

The goal was fairly straightforward—to accomplish what BMW didn’t. More specifically, to swap the original roof of the fast wagon with a carbon fiber upgrade from Alpha N. The process starts with meticulous preparation. The experts from IND Distribution delve deep into the car’s interior, carefully removing various components such as trim pieces, the headliner, the boot lid, the roof rails, and a complex network of cables. This step is akin to uncovering the car’s intricate structure, peeling away the layers that define its character. However, the real spectacle begins when the team boldly tackles the task of cutting away the original roof.

BMW M5 Touring returns with a powerful V8 PHEV engine

The BMW M5 Touring is set to make a comeback in 2024 after a hiatus since 2010. The upcoming model was spotted undergoing testing on the Nürburgring and is expected to be launched alongside the new M5 saloon. It will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain consisting of BMW’s S63 twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine and a rear-mounted electric motor.

Sources suggest that the combined power and torque outputs of the two units will be around 790bhp and 737lb ft, respectively. The recent spy shots of the car reveal a heavily camouflaged prototype with a wider front grille, a low and sporty stance, a muscular rear apron, and the signature M5 quad exhaust exits.

In addition to testing on the Nürburgring, the BMW M5 Touring is being put through its paces on urban roads, country lanes, and motorways around Munich, as well as at the BMW M headquarters in Garching.

Early prototypes of the new M5 were reportedly using a lithium-ion battery similar in capacity to the one found in the outgoing BMW 545e. It remains to be seen whether this will be the production battery for the next M5, as there are suggestions that BMW M is developing its own high-performance battery with ultra-rapid discharging capabilities. The larger 19.4kWh battery found in the upcoming 530e and 550e PHEVs also hints at the possibility of a more capacious battery for the M5.

“We’re now also installing a hybrid drive system with typical M performance in other high-performance cars,” revealed Dirk Häcker, the head of BMW M development.

2024 Subaru Levorg Layback Teased As Wagon Turned SUV

The Subaru Levorg, which is named after the words “legacy,” “revolution,” and “touring’,” is a midsize wagon that has been available since 2014. The second generation was introduced in 2020 and, like its predecessor, it is primarily sold in Japan. However, the Levorg is also available in a few export markets such as Australia, where it is known as the WRX Sportwagon, and New Zealand, where it is called the WRX GT Wagon. In the coming month, Japan will see the debut of a new version of the Levorg.

Official teaser images have been released, providing a sneak peek of the upcoming Levorg Layback, which is essentially an SUV version of the wagon. Subaru has stated that this high-riding variant is specifically intended for the Japanese market, with preorders set to begin on September 7. While the exact debut date has not been revealed, it is likely to coincide with the start of preorders or perhaps even earlier.

2024 Porsche 911 S/T: Powerful and Exclusive

Porsche is introducing the 2024 Porsche 911 S/T, a special edition model that combines features from the GT3 Touring and GT3 RS. This lightweight and performance-focused vehicle pays homage to the classic 1969 911 S. Limited to just 1,963 units, the starting price for the 911 S/T in the United States is $291,650 (excluding a $1,650 destination charge). The car will make its public debut at the Rennsport Reunion 7 event, scheduled to begin on September 28, with deliveries starting in spring 2024.

The 911 S/T is the lightest variant of the 992-generation 911, weighing in at 3,056 pounds. This makes it 70 pounds lighter than the 911 GT3 Touring model with a manual gearbox.
