The special edition Astor features an all-black exterior with a black honeycomb grille, black front and rear bumpers, smoked headlights, and blacked-out alloy wheels. It also has red front brake calipers and “Black Storm” badges on the front fenders.

The Black Storm edition primarily focuses on cosmetic changes and retains the same features as the regular Astor Smart variant. However, it does come with a dealer-fitted JBL sound system.   • The Honda Elevate offers the most affordable automatic variant in the compact SUV space. Its top-end variant undercuts the other models by a significant margin, since it gets a single powertrain option. All the other compact SUVs get two petrol engine options.

  • For the choice of a performance-oriented turbo-petrol compact SUV, like the Kushaq, Taigun, or Astor, it will cost you around a lakh more over the top-spec Elevate.

  • The Grand Vitara and Hyryder are available with the strong-hybrid option, which claims an efficiency of up to 27.97kmpl. The latter offers the hybrid option at a more affordable entry price which is still more expensive than the fully-loaded Honda SUV.

  • The Seltos is the costliest option compared to the other turbo-petrol automatic compact SUVs. The top-spec Kushaq and hybrid variants of the Maruti-Toyota duo are not far behind.

It’s a good thing that the Elevate undercuts most of its rivals, but it also skips out on several premium features already offered in the segment. There’s no panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, driver seat height adjustment, six airbags as standard, and a 360-degree camera. However, it does get the ADAS safety feature, at an affordable price, which is only available with the top-end variants of the Seltos and Astor for now.
