Google Reveals Prices for Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro Before October Release

The standard Pixel phone, known as the vanilla Pixel, is expected to come with a higher price tag this year. The Pixel 8 will reportedly start at $699, compared to the previous Pixel 7’s price of $599. This increase in price is due to the various hardware changes both internally and externally.

Unlike its predecessor, the Pixel 8 will feature a 120Hz display instead of a 90Hz screen. It will also come with an upgraded processor, thanks to the third-generation Tensor chip. The rear camera setup will consist of a 50-megapixel primary camera and a 12-megapixel ultrawide snapper, which is now capable of capturing macro photography.

Other specifications for the Pixel 8 include a slightly smaller 6.17-inch FHD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) OLED screen, 8GB of RAM, a choice between 128GB and 256GB of storage, and a slightly larger 4,485mAh battery with 45W charging support. This year’s model will be available in Grey, Peony Rose, and Obsidian Black colors.

iRobot’s Roomba Combo J9+ Takes A Smarter Approach To Mop Drips & Pet Mess

iRobot has introduced the new Roomba Combo j9+ robot vacuum and mop, which makes a significant improvement in how it handles mop drips and pet messes. Unlike previous models that simply raise the mop pads slightly when encountering carpeted surfaces, the Roomba Combo j9+ lifts the mop pads onto the top of the robot to avoid any drips. Additionally, the new Roomba features SmartScrub, a function that applies extra pressure and back-and-forth motions to the mop for twice the scrubbing power. With dual rubber brushes and 100% more powerful suction than the Roomba i Series, the Roomba Combo j9+ ensures a thorough clean.

One of the standout features of the Roomba Combo j9+ is its compatibility with iRobot OS 7.0’s Dirt Detective. This feature analyzes the cleaning requirements of each room and determines which rooms should be cleaned first based on their level of dirtiness or their most recent cleaning. It automatically adjusts its cleaning behavior accordingly, such as doing two passes in kitchens and bathrooms, increasing vacuuming strength on carpets, and using less liquid on hardwood floors. The Roomba also has a smart sequencing feature that leaves the bathroom for last to prevent tracking messes into other rooms.

The mapping capability of the Roomba Combo j9+ has been significantly improved, allowing it to map rooms up to 7 times faster than its predecessors. It also supports automatic room naming for easier identification. Users can manually override settings through the iRobot app, and the Roomba itself is equipped to detect over 80 everyday household objects, such as wires, socks, and pet waste. In fact, iRobot’s Pet Owner Official Promise (P.O.O.P.) guarantee ensures that if the Roomba fails to avoid solid pet waste, the company will replace the robot.

Disney+ to Raise Prices and Crack Down on Password Sharing

Disney has announced that it will be increasing the prices for its streaming services, following in the footsteps of its rival Netflix. In addition, Disney will soon be introducing ad-supported subscription packages in Europe and Canada, starting from November 1, 2023. However, Disney’s imitation of Netflix doesn’t stop there. Similar to Netflix, Disney is planning to crack down on password sharing.

During the company’s Q3 2023 earnings call, CEO Bob Iger emphasized that tackling password sharing is a top priority for Disney. Although specific details about enforcement methods were not provided, Iger stated that they are actively exploring solutions to address the issue. He also mentioned that subscriber agreements and policy terms will be updated later this year.

Disney might have taken inspiration from Netflix, as the latter reported positive revenue growth after implementing its own password crackdown. Additionally, Iger noted that the introduction of ad-tier subscriptions has had a positive impact on their financial statement, which explains why they are not raising prices for these options.
