Toyota Fortuner and Toyota Fortuner Legender’s Prices Increased by Up to Rs 70,000


This is the second price increase for the Toyota Fortuner and Toyota Fortuner Legender in 2023

  • Customers will now pay Rs 44,000 more for the 4X2 variants of the Toyota Fortuner and Toyota Fortuner Legender.

  • The 4X4 variants of the SUVs have received a price increase of Rs 70,000.

  • Toyota only offers the 4X4 drivetrain option with the petrol version of the SUV.

  • The GR-S (GR-Sport) variant of the Toyota Fortuner is only available in the 4X4 diesel automatic option, which is now Rs 70,000 more expensive.

One of the most popular SUVs in India, the Toyota Fortuner and Toyota Fortuner Legender, has seen a price increase of up to Rs 70,000. This is the second price increase for these SUVs in 2023, with the first one occurring in July. The price increase affects all variants of the Fortuner and Fortuner Legender SUVs, with the 4X4 variants experiencing the highest increment. The petrol variants of the Toyota Fortuner have seen a uniform price increase of Rs 44,000, while the same increment has been applied to all 4X2 diesel variants of the SUV. The maximum hike of Rs 70,000 has been imposed on the 4X4 variants of both the Toyota Fortuner and Fortuner Legender.

Powertrains Check

Toyota offers the Fortuner with two engine options: a 2.7-litre petrol (166PS/245Nm) and a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine (204PS/500Nm). The former is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, while the latter comes paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. Both petrol and diesel engines can also be had with an optional 6-speed automatic transmission.

New Price Range & Rivals

Toyota now sells the Fortuner with prices ranging from Rs 33.43 lakh to Rs 51.44 lakh, while the Fortuner Legender is priced between Rs 43.66 lakh and Rs 47.64 lakh. Both SUVs compete with the MG Gloster, Jeep Meridian, and Skoda Kodiaq.

The Fortuner Legender, while not being as equipped as the luxury sedan, also packs a few unique features as the one mentioned above. That said, it possesses no safety feature advantage over the Camry, which gets nine airbags in total and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold.

Another big advantage that the SUV has over the Camry is that it gets a torquey 204PS/500Nm 2.8-litre diesel engine mated to a 6-speed AT. Toyota also offers the Fortuner Legender with both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and 4-wheel drivetrain (4WD) options. The SUV is equipped with active traction control as well.
