With the new E-3008, Peugeot has taken the design, driving pleasure, and electric performance to the next level:

  • Allure: The E-3008 showcases the elegance and efficiency of a fastback SUV with a reinvented design.
  • Emotion: The next-generation Peugeot Panoramic i-Cockpit® enhances the driving pleasure with its innovative features.
  • Excellence: The E-3008 offers exceptional electric range (up to 435 miles) and performance, thanks to the new STLA Medium platform and powertrains from Stellantis.

Linda Jackson, CEO of Peugeot, said: “The launch of the next-level E-3008 is a significant milestone in Peugeot’s transformation into an appealing 100% electric brand that sets new standards for design, driving pleasure, and efficiency. With its stunning exterior design, impressive Peugeot Panoramic i-Cockpit®, exceptional driving pleasure, and unprecedented electric performance, the Next-Level E-3008 ushers Peugeot into a new era as the French brand offering the widest range of mainstream electric vehicles in the market.”

STLA Medium electric platform

The Peugeot E-3008 will be the first model to utilize Stellantis’ brand-new STLA Medium electric powertrain. It is designed to deliver top-notch performance, including an impressive range of up to 435 miles, quick recharge time (20-80% in 30 minutes from a 160kW charger), and advanced connected services and functions. The STLA Medium incorporates a powerful electric motor and a 400V lithium-ion battery for enhanced power, efficiency, and torque.

The new E-3008 offers both AC and DC charging options. For AC charging, it comes with an 11kW three-phase charger as standard and a 22kW three-phase charger as an option. The Mode 4 socket supports DC rapid recharging up to 160kW, enabling fast recharging times. Additionally, the E-3008 features a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, allowing users to power external devices with the car’s high-voltage battery.

Fastback SUV design

The E-3008 stands out with its distinctive fastback SUV design. Its sleek and aerodynamic shape combines elegance, efficiency, and spaciousness. Despite its compact size, it offers a generous 520 liters of boot space, on par with the previous 3008 model.

The front end of the E-3008 features ultra-compact LED headlamps and a grille, accentuating its modernity. The wheels of the vehicle contribute to both style and aerodynamic performance, with technical and geometric designs that showcase the Peugeot emblem.

At the rear, the E-3008 incorporates a “floating” spoiler inspired by the Quartz Concept, enhancing its aerodynamics and complementing the distinctive three-claw rear light signature.

The E-3008 is available in an array of six colors, including an innovative Obsession Blue that changes from blue to green depending on the lighting conditions.

Panoramic i-Cockpit®

The interior of the E-3008 boasts the striking Peugeot Panoramic i-Cockpit®. It features a curved 21” HD panoramic screen that combines the head-up display with the central touchscreen. The instrument cluster and the touchscreen are positioned for optimal ergonomics, providing essential driving information and controls.

The E-3008 introduces the i-Toggles, customizable touch-sensitive buttons that can be programmed for quick access to frequently used functions. The cabin also offers ambient LED lighting in various colors, a compact and ergonomic steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls, and Peugeot’s Air Quality System for a refreshing and calm environment.

The Peugeot Panoramic i-Cockpit® includes two paddles behind the steering wheel that enable the driver to select from three levels of regenerative braking for a customized driving experience.

  • Low: Similar to conventional brakes
  • Medium: Increased deceleration
  • High: Maximum deceleration and regeneration

The medium and high regenerative braking levels activate the rear brake lights automatically.

Instinctive driving pleasure

The new STLA Medium platform ensures dynamic road-holding with its redesigned front and rear axles. The platform’s architecture contributes to the vehicle’s agility by positioning the battery low between the wheels, lowering the center of gravity.

The E-3008 offers a suite of driver aids for a smooth driving experience, including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, speed limit sign detection, and various safety technologies such as automatic emergency braking and blind spot monitoring.

The new E-3008 will be available in two trim levels, Allure and GT, with three all-electric powertrain options:

  • 210bhp/157kW Standard Range
  • 230bhp/170kW Long Range
  • 320bhp/240kW Dual Motor for all-wheel drive

Self-charging hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants will also be offered. The E-3008 will be manufactured at the Sochaux plant in France and will be available for sale from February 2024.

RIDE ENGINEERING BETA TRIPLE CLAMPS: PRODUCT REVIEW

PRODUCT: The Ride Engineering split triple clamps are billet triple clamps that feature a split design. They have four key zones in their design:

  • Optimize body position by providing multiple bar positions with optional offset bases.
  • Flex, made from 2024 aluminum, which enhances the feel.
  • Improved handling through the gull-wing design.
  • The front placement of the clamp pinch bolts allows for different aftermarket hand guard mounts and added flex.

OUR TAKE: We installed the Ride Engineering clamps on a long-term test Beta 300RR. These clamps were obtained from Beta Accessories, which offers a wide range of aftermarket parts for Beta motorcycles. The set comes with the stem and lower bearing attached to the lower clamp, as well as polyurethane cones and all the necessary hardware for attaching the bar mounts. The stock lower steering race needs to be removed and replaced with the supplied new race.

Everything fit perfectly, including the Beta instrument cluster that bolts to the top clamp. We set our bars in the farthest forward position for our 6-foot test rider. During testing, we were impressed with the cornering abilities of the bike, without compromising stability, and we also noticed a reduction in chatter and vibration in the hands.

The fit and finish of the Ride Engineering triple clamps are of high quality, and the anodized red color (optional black) complements the red Beta bike. This is a premium product, as are most aftermarket billet clamps, but the improved functionality is noticeable and the anodized billet design is visually appealing.

Armoured BMW i7: A Luxury Electric Car Designed for Heads of State

BMW has introduced armoured versions of its flagship saloon, offering enhanced protection with features such as protective glass, a reinforced chassis, and bodywork capable of withstanding explosives. This marks the first time the current generation of the 7 Series receives an armoured edition, with the electric BMW i7 also receiving its own Protection model.

Both vehicles are equipped with an armoured steel body known as the BMW Protection Core, which reinforces the doors, underbody, and roof. The company claims that this provides “maximum protection” against explosives, bullets, drone attacks, and hand grenades. Moreover, they feature VPAM 10-rated protective glass, the highest level of protection available for civilian protection vehicles.

The 7 Series Protection is rated VR9, meaning it can withstand ballistic attacks from high-velocity weapons traveling at speeds of up to 820 meters per second. It also offers PAS 300 blast resistance and includes a self-sealing fuel tank to prevent fuel loss.

The vehicles are also equipped with PAX 20-inch light-alloy wheels, specifically designed for them. These wheels feature a run-flat ring that allows driving at speeds of up to 50mph even when the tires have no air.

Due to the additional protective bodywork, the performance of the two cars is somewhat compromised.

The i7 Protection model is powered by two electric motors, generating 536bhp and 549lb ft of torque. While the standard i7 achieves a 0-62mph sprint in 4.7 seconds, the i7 Protection model takes 9.0 seconds to reach the same speed. Its top speed is limited to 99mph.

On the other hand, the 7 Series Protection is equipped with a 4.4-liter V8 mild-hybrid petrol engine that produces 522bhp and 553lb ft of torque. Its 0-62mph acceleration drops from 6.6 seconds to 4.2 seconds, with a top speed limited to 130mph.

10 Mazda Cosmo

Any list about cars from Mazda has to begin with the Cosmo, the first production Mazda car with a Wankel rotary engine. Named Cosmo due to the large-scale fascination with the Space Race, it had an attractive touring coupe design that was well received by the masses. But the real selling point of the car was the 1.0-liter twin-rotor engine. And while it was an expensive car, it was still considerably popular. It stands tall as probably the leader of years of heritage Mazda accrued.

9 Mazda RX-2

The first gen Mazda RX-2 marked an important turning point for the brand as it was the first car to go mainstream with a rotary engine, a 1146 cc Wankel that produced around 130 horsepower. It was available in both coupe and sedan body styles. In a first for the company, it was also mated to an automatic transmission, which lent it an element of intrigue but did not do wonders for its fuel economy figures and even its handling was largely sub-par, as per most experts.

7 Mazda MX-5 Miata (NA)

One major update across the new 508 range is that every variant now comes standard with the Peugeot i-Connect® Advanced infotainment and 3D Connected Navigation. The 10-inch HD touchscreen can be fully customized, like a tablet, with eight individual driver and passenger profiles. The voice recognition command, “OK Peugeot,” enhances safety and convenience. The driver instrument cluster features a new design inspired by the new 308 and 408 range, and a new e-Toggle replaces the previous gear selector. PLUG-IN HYBRID variants offer an additional control to adjust the level of regenerative braking. The new 508 models also include upgrades in cameras, connectivity, and charging options.

Simplified trim line-up

Along with the model updates, Peugeot has simplified the trim line-up for both the new 508 and 508 SW. The models are now available in Allure, GT, and Peugeot Sport Engineered variants, making it easier for customers to choose the right model for their needs.

The prices for the new 508 start at £34,020 OTR MRRP, while the new 508 SW models start at £35,220 OTR MRRP. The high-performance Peugeot Sport Engineered models start at £53,825 OTR MRRP for the Fastback and £55,025 OTR MRRP for the SW.

BMW Presents Hollywood Action and Sustainable Marine Experience at Cannes

BMW stunned the crowds with its environmentally-conscious luxury, innovative mobility on water, and electrifying action at the Cannes Film Festival. As the Official Partner of the event, BMW offered guests, VIPs, and festival participants a fleet of over 200 fully-electric cars. The most powerful of these vehicles was the brand new BMW i7 M70 xDrive, the lead actor in BMW Films’ latest creation debuted at the festival. The shuttle service that took the attendees around the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès allowed them to experience a locally emission-free premium ride in a sophisticated BMW.

The ICON: Revolutionary Marine Experience

BMW partnered with boat maker TYDE to showcase The ICON, a watercraft that has revolutionized the approach to environment-friendly marine mobility through its electric propulsion system. The craft boasts hydrofoils that maintain a top speed of 30 knots (55 km/h) and a range of more than 50 nautical miles. With its elegant design and soundless movement through water, it was a popular attraction among the festival-goers. The ICON focuses on modern urban lifestyles and can be further personalized by customers for use in both the private and commercial sectors.

BMW Films’ “The Calm”

Bollywood royalty such as Pom Klementieff and Uma Thurman graced the world premier of BMW Films’ “The Calm.” The seven-minute spy thriller features the BMW i7 M70 xDrive in a dramatic car chase scene. Attendees got to watch the film from the comfort of the luxurious rear compartment of the BMW i7 while viewing it on the BMW Theatre Screen. After the event, viewers who missed the in-car screening experience were able to see “The Calm” on the BMW YouTube channel.
