RIDE ENGINEERING BETA TRIPLE CLAMPS: PRODUCT REVIEW

PRODUCT: The Ride Engineering split triple clamps are billet triple clamps that feature a split design. They have four key zones in their design:

  • Optimize body position by providing multiple bar positions with optional offset bases.
  • Flex, made from 2024 aluminum, which enhances the feel.
  • Improved handling through the gull-wing design.
  • The front placement of the clamp pinch bolts allows for different aftermarket hand guard mounts and added flex.

OUR TAKE: We installed the Ride Engineering clamps on a long-term test Beta 300RR. These clamps were obtained from Beta Accessories, which offers a wide range of aftermarket parts for Beta motorcycles. The set comes with the stem and lower bearing attached to the lower clamp, as well as polyurethane cones and all the necessary hardware for attaching the bar mounts. The stock lower steering race needs to be removed and replaced with the supplied new race.

Everything fit perfectly, including the Beta instrument cluster that bolts to the top clamp. We set our bars in the farthest forward position for our 6-foot test rider. During testing, we were impressed with the cornering abilities of the bike, without compromising stability, and we also noticed a reduction in chatter and vibration in the hands.

The fit and finish of the Ride Engineering triple clamps are of high quality, and the anodized red color (optional black) complements the red Beta bike. This is a premium product, as are most aftermarket billet clamps, but the improved functionality is noticeable and the anodized billet design is visually appealing.

Triumph to Supply Moto2 Engines until 2029

Triumph will continue to provide engines for the Moto2 racing series until 2029, as announced by Dorna, the organizer of MotoGP. Since the 2019 race season, Triumph’s 765cc triple engine has been the sole powerplant for Moto2 bikes.

The 765cc engine, originally introduced in the updated Street Triple in 2017, has proven to be reliable and powerful both on the street and on the track. It continues to be used in the current generation Street Triple motorcycles.

The extended contract with Triumph as the exclusive engine supplier for Moto2 is a testament to the engine’s performance and durability. Carlos Ezpeleta, Chief Sporting Officer of Dorna, praised Triumph’s contribution to the Moto2 series, stating that it has successfully bridged the gap between the Moto3 and MotoGP classes.

In the future, the Triumph Moto2 engine’s performance will be enhanced through updates, including a new transmission expected to be introduced for the 2025 season. Details about the new transmission have not been disclosed, but it is anticipated to be a “racing gearbox” that could potentially offer improved speed and acceleration.

Steve Sargent, Triumph’s Chief Product Officer, expressed confidence that the new racing gearbox will significantly improve on-track results for riders. The engineering team is already working on improvements for gear selection and testing parts based on this year’s Moto2 races.

The current tuning of the Triumph Moto2 engines allows them to produce 145 horsepower, with a recent increase in rpm. The engines now rev up to 14,400 rpm compared to the previous limit of 14,000 rpm. For enthusiasts who want a taste of the Moto2 experience, Triumph offers the Street Triple RS Moto2 Edition, which features the same engine found in the race bikes, as well as high-end suspension and precision handling components from Öhlins and Brembo.
