New McLaren 750S: More Power and Enhanced Chassis

The McLaren 750S is the updated version of the popular 720S, offering improved performance and a redesigned chassis. Available in both hard-top and Spider models, this supercar aims to set a new benchmark in its segment, providing better usability and increased enjoyment for drivers.

As the name suggests, the 750S boasts a power increase over its predecessor, delivering 750PS (740bhp). With a weight reduction of 30kg, bringing it down to 1277kg dry, the car achieves a segment-leading power-to-weight ratio of 579bhp per tonne. The closest competitor, the Ferrari 296 GTB plug-in hybrid, claims a ratio of 552bhp per tonne.

Additionally, the McLaren 750S is the lightest road car produced by McLaren, weighing just 79kg more than the track-focused Senna hypercar without fluids.

The weight-saving measures include carbon fibre-shelled alloys that save 13.8kg, 17.5kg lighter carbon-shelled race seats, and a trimmed instrument cluster that contributes a 1.6kg reduction.

The car’s enhanced performance, combined with a shorter final drive ratio, allows for 10% faster acceleration compared to the 720S. It can go from 0-62mph in 2.8 seconds and reach 186mph in only 4.4 seconds. However, the top speed is slightly lower at 206mph.

The twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine has undergone subtle yet effective improvements. It features a new triple-layer head gasket, new twin fuel pumps, higher-pressure turbos, and lighter pistons. Additionally, a standard sports exhaust system, exiting through the center of the rear deck like the P1 hypercar, reduces weight by 2.2kg and produces a new and distinct sound.

To enhance the driver’s connection and engagement, the engine mounts have been modified, providing a heightened sense of connection. Furthermore, the car offers an optional glass decklid that allows a view of the engine.
