Zontes Has A New 500cc Adventure Bike Called The 500 T

Chinese bikes are getting greater, extra highly effective, and extra high-tech. If the just lately concluded EICMA 2023 was something to go by, it’s clear that China-made bikes are right here, and so they’re right here to remain whether or not we prefer it or not. Lots of manufacturers from China showcased their improvements, and Zontes is only one of many who’s seeking to make it large within the world market.

Zontes’ latest providing seeks to focus on the extremely profitable beginner-friendly middleweight phase in Europe, predominantly occupied by A2-license bikes. Models within the class often have engines within the 300cc to 500cc displacement vary, with the brand new 500 T taking the type of an adventure-tourer. Set to hit the market in 2024, the Zontes 500 T might be provided in two variations – one with alloy wheels for extra road-focused driving, and one other in wire-spoke wheels for higher off-road efficiency.

Zontes Has A New 500cc Adventure Bike Called The 500 T

At the center of the Zontes 500T is a 498cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine. With an output of 38 kilowatts, or about 51 horsepower, and 50 Nm (about 37 pound-feet), the bike is barely extra highly effective than its parallel-twin-equipped counterparts of comparable displacements. Nevertheless, given its single-cylinder configuration, count on a considerable quantity of vibrations from this engine. According to Zontes, the five hundred T has a high velocity of 180 kilometers per hour, or about 112.5 miles per hour.

When it involves styling, Zontes didn’t rewrite the rulebook by any means. The 500 T follows the usual method in the case of adventure bikes, with angular physique work, a tall windscreen, and as-standard crash bars on the edges to guard the engine and bodywork within the occasion of a tip over. There’s additionally a beak up entrance, which accentuates its off-road-inspired design. The 500 T rolls on a 19-inch entrance and 17-inch rear wheel wrapped in dual-purpose rubber, whereas the road-focused model will get 17-inch wheels back and front. Suspension {hardware} consists of an inverted entrance fork and a mid-mounted monoshock, whereas braking duties are dealt with by twin entrance discs and a single rear disc.

As of the second, Zontes has but to announce pricing and availability of the brand new 500 T. Chances are it’ll make its approach to the European market in 2024, because the model has a longtime distribution community in nations like France, Germany, and Italy. As is the case with most Chinese-made bikes, count on the five hundred T to command a horny worth, undercutting its Japanese and European rivals by a considerable margin.

A Battery Talk: Kurt Vandeputte and Peter Lamp on Battery Trends – and their view on the future of batteries powering individual mobility.

Q: Mr. Lamp, we are here at the BCCC – close to the FIZ. Everything looks very much like a High-Tech Research Facility. Where does the BMW Group stand in terms of Battery Tech today?
The BMW Group is in a strong position when it comes to battery technology. The company has established the BCCC (Battery Cell Competence Center) close to the FIZ and recently opened the CMCC (Cell Manufacturing Competence Center) in Parsdorf. These centers, along with the expertise of professionals from around the world, allow BMW to compete with the best battery cell producing companies globally. BMW’s journey in battery technology began in 2008 with the development of its first MINI Cooper BEV prototype, and the company has come a long way since then.

…and why do you think you were able to make it to this level of expertise?
We believe that our strategy of developing in-house competence in battery cell technology and large-scale battery production has been key to our success. This strategy enables us to incorporate the best batteries into our electrified vehicles.

Q: Mr. Vandeputte, after more than 25 years at Umicore you just started at BMW Group – what is your perspective on the BMW Battery Strategy?
At Umicore, we valued collaborating with BMW on battery technology due to the company’s clear focus on understanding and mastering cell technology and production. The challenges faced by the automotive industry today, combined with BMW’s commitment to delivering the Ultimate Driving Machine, make the BMW approach very convincing and clear.

Q3: And the step from a “material tech company” to a German Premium Car manufacturer – how does it feel?
It feels invigorating to be part of the iconic BMW family. The welcoming attitude and the exciting yet challenging objectives ahead make the transition from a material tech company to a German Premium Car manufacturer a positive experience. The focus on battery performance, cost-competitiveness, and environmental impact align with my expertise in active materials.

Q: Mr. Lamp, talking about projects and challenges: what is the next big step customers can expect from BMW electrified powertrains?
In 2025, our NEUE KLASSE models will introduce the Gen6 eDrive technology, featuring a new cylindrical cell with 20% more volumetric energy density, 30% faster charging, and 30% more range compared to Gen5 technology.

But changing from a prismatic cell in Gen5 to a cylindrical cell in Gen6 is a significant move: what triggered this decision?
At the beginning of the process, we considered all cell formats and sizes. However, the ambitious performance and safety goals led us to conclude that the cylindrical cell is the best format for our next generation. It also aligns with our integration approach for the NEUE KLASSE: cell to pack and pack to open body.

Q: Mr. Vandeputte, ASSB is often considered “the next big thing”. Where does BMW stand? What is the potential of the technology?
We are making significant progress with our partner Solid Power in establishing a new process development line in our CMCC in Parsdorf. This advanced battery technology offers higher energy densities combined with equal safety compared to current technologies. However, it will take several years to mature the technology and prepare it for industrialization, likely not before the end of the decade.

Q: Looking at the automotive battery landscape today – very often new trends or even innovations are discussed in the media. How do you keep up with all developments?
This is where the close connection from the BMW battery team to the Start-Up scene and universities plays a crucial role. It ensures that BMW remains abreast of new trends, findings, and developments, while also helping the company attract top talents in the industry.

Gentlemen, thank you very much for this conversation.

Munich. The partnership between BMW Munich and FC Bayern Munich Basketball GmbH, which was launched in 2023, has set four goals: sporting success, sustainable mobility, social engagement, and a premium experience for spectators at BMW Park. BMW is showcasing its commitment at the opening match of the season by presenting FC Bayern Munich Basketball and the easyCredit Basketball Bundesliga with a world premiere: for the first time, a league match will be played on a high-tech video sports floor.

When FC Bayern Munich Basketball and Mitteldeutscher BC face off on Friday, 29th September (20:00), the presentation of this indoor sporting event will be taken to a new level. The floor will also serve as a fitting stage to welcome and honor world champions Andreas Obst, Isaac Bonga, and Niels Giffey at their first competitive match since the DBB team’s thrilling victory in Manila.

“When we entered into the partnership with FC Bayern Munich Basketball, we promised to make BMW Park a sports and event arena, which is an attraction both in and for the sport-mad city of Munich,” said Bernd Döpke, Head of BMW Munich. “The first league match at BMW Park on this high-tech floor is an absolute highlight in this regard and shows emphatically that BMW is branching out in a different direction and taking on a pioneering role when it comes to both technology and visitor experience.”

The ASB GlassFloor, developed in Bavaria, is capable of displaying visually impressive graphics across the entire court. Moreover, real-time data, such as player and ball tracking systems, can be seamlessly integrated, offering spectators a whole new level of engagement.

Marko Pesic, CEO of FC Bayern Munich Basketball, expressed his excitement about BMW’s commitment to making this spectacular event possible. He said, “I’ve known about this technological innovation for a while, and I can only urge our fans to take a look and come to the arena. This will be a one-of-a-kind experience! Once again, a big thank you to BMW for making this happen. Our players, who got a first impression last week at a Meet & Greet event in the BMW Welt, are also excited.”

The floor has previously been used at the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup, winning over both fans and players with its exceptional playing properties. Additionally, the risk of injuries is significantly lower on the joint-friendly ‘LumiFlex’ floor compared to a conventional surface.

The innovative floor consists of two 5-millimeter-thick safety glass panels laminated with a safety film. The glass covers a specially designed LED display mounted on aluminum elements. This design ensures consistent elasticity and shock absorption, making it athlete-optimized. The deeply etched surface with embedded ceramic points provides proper grip.
