Cool Details About The Ram 1500 REV You Might Have Missed

The automotive industry is undergoing a rapid transformation, driven by the increasing demand for sustainable and environmentally friendly vehicles. In the realm of electric trucks, the Ram 1500 REV emerges as a potential trailblazer, showcasing a convergence of innovative design and cutting-edge technology.

Designed on Stellantis’ robust STLA Frame platform, the electrified Ram is a masterstroke, blending performance, range, and luxury. With a 654-horsepower electric motor and 620 pound-feet of torque, the Ram 1500 REV delivers an exhilarating performance, reaching 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds. Beyond its striking exterior and its versatile interior, here are some cool details you may have missed when the Ram 1500 debuted:

In order to give you the most up-to-date and accurate information possible, the data used to compile this article was sourced from Ram Truck’s website.

The Ram Offers A New Contemporary Face And Saloon-style Doors

The Ram 1500 REV sports a fresh, contemporary “face” that includes updated badging and an animated LED tuning fork headlight design. This new visage sets the Revolution apart from its gas-powered predecessors, signaling its status as a cutting-edge electric vehicle. One of the most eye-catching design elements is the absence of a B-pillar, enabling a grand saloon-style door opening.

Ram Revolution’s Saloon-Style Doors Enhance Aesthetics, Space, And Convenience

This design choice not only enhances the truck’s aesthetics but also contributes to the perception of an even more spacious interior. The cabin itself is actually four inches longer than that of Ram’s gas-powered trucks, and the saloon-style doors further amplify this sense of roominess. The elimination of the B-pillar also facilitates easier entry and exit, particularly when you are seated in the rear.

Saloon-Style Doors Embody Ram Revolution’s Forward-Thinking Design Philosophy

With the wide-opening doors, you can comfortably step into and out of the vehicle without having to navigate around a bulky B-pillar. This design feature is particularly beneficial if you have young children or individuals with limited mobility. In addition to their aesthetic appeal and functional benefits, the saloon-style doors also serve as a symbolic representation of the Ram Revolution’s forward-thinking design philosophy.

This Ram’s Digital Sideview Mirrors Are A Paradigm Shift

The Ram 1500 REV’s sideview mirrors are a testament to the truck’s innovative and technological design. Unlike traditional sideview mirrors that rely on bulky glass panels, the Ram 1500 EV utilizes sleek, compact mirrors that employ a 360-degree camera system to provide you with a clear view of your surroundings. This design choice not only enhances the truck’s aerodynamic efficiency but also sets a new standard for automotive technology.

The Digital Sideview Mirrors Enhance Aerodynamics, Safety, And Display Versatility

This real-time footage from the exterior camera is then transmitted to the 14.2-inch high-resolution displays embedded within the truck’s cabin; the displays can also serve as a tablet or a video game controller. The digital nature of the sideview mirrors offers several advantages over traditional mirrors. Firstly, the compact size of the mirrors reduces drag, enhancing the truck’s aerodynamic performance and potentially improving fuel economy.

Secondly, the digital displays can be customized to display specific information relevant to your needs, such as blind spot warnings and lane departure alerts. Also, 3D printing allows for the creation of complex shapes and geometries with a high degree of precision, making it an ideal manufacturing process for the intricate components of the sideview mirror system. This technology also enables the production of lightweight, durable mirrors that can withstand the rigors of everyday driving.

Electro-Chromatic Roof Transforms Your Driving Experience With Panoramic Views

At the heart of the Ram Revolution concept’s innovative interior is an electro-chromatic roof that attempts to transform the driving experience. This full glass roof, seamlessly integrated with the vehicle’s design, offers a panoramic view of the surroundings while simultaneously providing you with complete control over their exposure to sunlight.

The electro-chromatic panels, embedded within the glass, can be adjusted electronically to transition from completely transparent to a darkened tint, effectively managing the intensity of natural light entering the cabin.

Intuitive Tactile Swiping Technology For Effortless Roof Adjustment

This remarkable feature empowers you and your passengers to tailor the interior ambiance to their preference, whether seeking the warmth of sunlight or a more shaded and relaxed environment. Operated via Ram’s intuitive tactile swiping technology, adjusting the electro-chromatic roof is as simple as a touch.

Integrated into the overhead console, this user-friendly interface allows for seamless control over the roof’s tint, enabling occupants to fine-tune their comfort levels with effortless precision.

Enhancing Comfort, Energy Efficiency, And Embodying Forward-Thinking Design

The electro-chromatic roof not only enhances the cabin’s aesthetics and comfort but also contributes to the Ram Revolution concept’s overall energy efficiency. By reducing reliance on artificial lighting and minimizing heat gain, the roof helps conserve energy, aligning with Ram’s commitment to sustainability. Beyond its practical benefits, the electro-chromatic roof embodies the Ram Revolution concept’s forward-thinking design philosophy.

The “Shadow Mode” Is A Revolution in Hands-Free Truck Operation

The Ram 1500 Revolution EV introduces “Shadow Mode”, a feature that revolutionizes hands-free truck operation. This innovative technology enables the truck to autonomously follow you as you walk ahead, making it an invaluable tool for job sites and hands-free maneuvering in challenging environments. Powered by a suite of sensors and camera technology, Shadow Mode tracks your movements, maintaining a safe distance and adapting to changes in pace and direction.

The Personal Assistant Offers Seamless Voice Control at Your Fingertips

Complementing Shadow Mode is the Ram 1500 REV’s advanced personal assistant, featuring a 3D Ram avatar. This intuitive system responds to voice commands, allowing you to control various vehicle functions. With a simple voice command, users can activate Shadow Mode, close the windows, or play music.

This Ram Redefines Truck Versatility With Smart Cargo Management

The Ram 1500 REV is not just about delivering impressive performance and extended driving range. It also boasts a spacious and adaptable interior that is packed with innovative features, making it an ideal choice for both work and play.

It can seat up to six passengers with its optional third-row jump seats, a unique feature among electric trucks. These foldable seats, seamlessly integrated into the mid-gate, provide additional seating when needed while maximizing cargo space when not in use. The removable lower section of the mid-gate allows for flexible configurations, catering to various passenger and cargo needs.

The Ram Truck Offers Practicality And Convenience On The Go

The Ram 1500 EV introduces a feature called the “frunk hole,” a pass-through that connects the center console directly to the frunk. This innovative design enables the transport of objects as long as 18 feet within the truck, making it ideal for hauling lengthy items like lumber, pipes, or even a pair of skis. While the hole is narrow, it can accommodate a variety of materials, expanding the truck’s cargo versatility.

The Ram 1500 REV’s powered front trunk, or frunk, offers convenient access to additional storage space. Unlike conventional trunks, the frunk features integrated cup holders, adding a touch of practicality and convenience for tailgating or enjoying refreshments on the go. The one-touch open-and-close functionality further enhances user convenience.

To simplify cargo management and ensure objects fit through the frunk hole or other cargo areas, the Ram 1500 REV comes with a user-friendly mobile app. This app utilizes barcode scanning and augmented reality (AR) camera measuring tools to accurately assess object dimensions. Additionally, the app provides visual guidance on how to best position objects within the truck for optimal storage and transportation.

Features for Enhanced Convenience Include:

  • Powered charge-port door located on the driver’s side front quarter panel for effortless charging access
  • Powered tailgate for hands-free loading and unloading
  • Flush-mounted door handles that streamline the truck’s exterior design

In conclusion, the Ram 1500 EV redefines the electric truck experience with its innovative design, cutting-edge technology, and versatile interior. From its futuristic exterior to its user-friendly controls, the Ram 1500 REV embodies innovation, adaptability, and convenience, making it a compelling choice for those seeking the ultimate electric truck.

Top 15 Best-Selling Cars In India For October 2023, That Were NOT SUVs

By removing the SUV body shapes from the list, we see the true demand for hatchbacks and MPVs

Swift, Dzire, Grand i10, Innova Hycross

It is well-established that SUVs, or cars with SUV-like body types dominate the Indian car market, with close to half the total monthly sales. However, if we were to exclude any vehicle that has been classified as an SUV, the bottom half of the list of best-selling models in a month offers some interesting insights into which models are most popular. Let’s take a detailed look at the top-selling cars, not SUVs, from October 2023:

Key Takeaways

  • Maruti dominates the non-SUV sales list with a diverse lineup of cars in India. The only model added to the top monthly sellers list with the removal of SUVs is the Maruti XL6, which is a premium version of the Ertiga MPV.

  • Toyota is the next most popular brand in India right now with the Innova MPV, coming in at the eighth spot. It is important to note that this tally includes sales of both the Toyota Innova Hycross (petrol and hybrid) as well as Toyota Innova Crysta (diesel-only).

  • The Hyundai i20 premium hatchback came in at the ninth spot with 7,212 units sold, beating the Tata Altroz which sold just under 6,000 units and is eleventh on this list.

  • The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios hatchback was the 10th best selling car of the previous month, with over 6,500 units sold, which is more than 3 times higher for the same month as its rival, the Maruti Swift.

  • The Tata Tiago was also popular, clearing the 5,000 sales mark in October 2023.

  • The Kia Carens, a premium alternative to the Maruti Ertiga, also cleared the 5,000 monthly sales mark.

  • The last hatchback on this list is the Toyota Glanza, which is essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Baleno with the same features and powertrains.

When we included SUVs while looking at the best-selling models of October 2023, even the 15th most popular model enjoyed a demand of over 11,000 units. However, it seems no other model was able to even come close to the 10,000 unit sales mark, highlighting the preferences of the SUV body shape among Indian car buyers.

Volvo Cars to Increase Global Production Capacity by Building EX30 Small SUV in Ghent

To meet the high demand for their vehicles, Volvo Cars has announced plans to produce the new fully electric Volvo EX30 at their Ghent plant in Belgium starting in 2025. This expansion in production capacity aims to meet the growing need for their popular small SUV.

The EX30 has garnered widespread acclaim since its introduction earlier this year, earning prestigious awards such as Car of the Year from The Sun and the Small SUV/Crossover of the Year from the Sunday Times.

Initial production of the EX30 began in early autumn in Zhangjiakou, China, with the first cars set to be delivered to customers later this year. The decision to also manufacture the EX30 in Ghent will increase production capacity to meet the expected demand in Europe and for global exports. This move aligns with Volvo Cars’ strategy of building cars in the regions where they are sold.

Moreover, producing the EX30 in Ghent provides flexibility in meeting the anticipated demand for one of Volvo Cars’ best-selling models in the coming years. This approach has proven successful for the company, as seen with the production of their popular XC60 and XC40 SUVs in both Europe and China.

“Our goal is to make the EX30 available at an attractive price point worldwide, making the transition to driving an electric Volvo car easier for more people while contributing to our company’s profitability,” stated Jim Rowan, CEO of Volvo Cars. “Expanding production in Ghent is a logical step as we aim to meet the strong demand for our exciting small electric SUV across the globe.”

Volvo Cars has set ambitious plans for electrification, aiming to sell only fully electric vehicles by 2030. By the mid-2020s, they strive for 50% of their global sales volume to consist of fully electric cars.

The EX30 is a critical component of Volvo Cars’ electrification plans as it is expected to play a significant role in their growth and profitability objectives, solidifying its position as a cornerstone of the company’s strategic transformation.

Joining the XC40 and C40 models on the Ghent production line, the EX30 will be the third fully electric Volvo model to be manufactured in Europe. This further strengthens Volvo Cars’ electric car production capabilities in the region and underscores the importance of the Ghent plant in their electrification strategy.

2024 Skoda Superb Sketches Show There Is Still Hope For Regular Cars

The popularity of SUVs has resulted in a decrease in demand for regular cars, leading some automakers to discontinue traditional models. However, the Volkswagen Passat sedan continues to exist in Europe as a wagon. The Opel/Vauxhall Insignia (Buick Regal) and the Ford Mondeo/Fusion have been discontinued in most parts of the world, although they are still available in China where they are locally produced.

In an effort to keep regular cars alive, Skoda is planning to introduce another generation of its flagship model with combustion engines. The new Superb, which shares mechanical components with the 2024 Passat Variant, will be officially unveiled on November 2. The design sketches of both the liftback and wagon body styles have already been released. It may be seen as unfortunate timing, considering the number of debuts occurring at the Japan Mobility Show.

The 5 Chinese Brands With The Highest Potential Abroad

China is home to approximately 170 different car brands, with a market where only 17.5 new vehicles are sold for every thousand inhabitants. While this may seem like a large number, it is still small compared to the vehicle/population ratio in the West. The United States leads with a ratio of 40.6, followed by Western Europe with 24.4. While China has a huge production capacity, not all brands have the potential to succeed globally. In this article, we will explore the five Chinese brands that have the highest potential to establish themselves abroad.

MG

MG is a British-origin brand that has been under Chinese control since 2006. It is already the most global car brand, with sales skyrocketing from 3,500 units in 2013 to around 450,000 units last year. MG’s potential lies in its ability to produce attractive and competitive electric cars for both developed and developing economies. In fact, MG was the fourth best-selling BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) brand in Europe in the first half of 2023, surpassing well-established mainstream brands like Renault, Peugeot, and Hyundai.

BYD

BYD is one of the fastest-growing brands in the world, thanks to its wide range of plug-in hybrid and all-electric cars. While it is still relatively small in Europe, it has gained traction in other regions. BYD’s positioning between the mainstream and premium segments allows it to tap into markets where premium electrified cars may be too expensive. The brand has introduced six production models since January 2022.

Geely/Zeekr

Geely, along with its premium segment brand Zeekr, is known for its strong ties with other Western manufacturers. This allows them to access competitive platforms and technologies that comply with European and North American standards. Geely and Zeekr offer a wide range of sedans and SUVs that have been successful in markets like Russia. They have the potential to expand their reach in many other markets as well.

NIO

NIO is often referred to as the “Chinese Tesla” due to its wide range of products. While it faces tough competition from Tesla and German premium brands, NIO’s potential lies in its battery performance, software capabilities, and battery replacement schedule. However, as a premium brand, it still needs time and awareness to capture a significant part of the European market.

Baojun/Wuling via Chevrolet

Baojun and Wuling are positioned as competitive low-cost Chinese auto brands. They offer no-frills products that are attractive and affordable. To capture market share in regions like Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa, these brands use the more global branding of their partner, Chevrolet. This strategy allows them to quickly establish themselves in these markets.

Despite the potential, these Chinese brands face a significant challenge—the negative reputation of Chinese products in the West. Overcoming this reputation will require both time and significant investments.

Mazda Commits to Selling Diesel Cars as Long as Customers Desire

The demand for diesel vehicles has been declining in recent years, particularly following the Dieselgate scandal. While diesel-powered cars and SUVs were once popular in Europe, last month electric vehicle sales surpassed deliveries of diesel models on the continent for the first time. However, Mazda has stated that it will continue to offer diesel technology as long as there is customer demand.

In a surprising move last year, the Japanese automaker introduced two new inline-six-cylinder engines, including a 3.3-liter turbocharged diesel. This diesel engine is available for the CX-60 in Europe, delivering up to 251 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque in mild-hybrid form. These performance figures are impressive for a non-premium mid-size crossover in Europe. Mazda has confirmed its commitment to keeping the diesel option available if there is enough demand from customers.

RV Sales Plummet by 49 Percent as RV Life Loses its Shine

During the COVID pandemic, the RV industry experienced a surge in demand as people sought to embrace social distancing by purchasing motorhomes and camper trailers. However, the current situation tells a different story. According to data from the RV Industry Association (RVIA), sales in the first half of 2023 have plummeted across all categories, with one exception worth noting.

When we say “across the board,” we are referring to various types of recreational vehicles, including motorhomes, travel trailers, and pickup truck toppers. Travel trailers have been hit the hardest, witnessing a staggering 53.9 percent drop compared to the previous year. This category includes both standard towable and large fifth-wheel campers. However, the RVIA provides a separate figure for fifth-wheelers, which reveals a 50.9 percent decline exclusively for this group. Trailers with folding segments are down by 31 percent, while truck campers (categorized as trailers) have experienced a 33.8 percent decrease.
