Winnebago Access: The Brand’s Cheapest Travel Trailer

Winnebago, known for its luxurious camper vans and motorhomes, is now venturing into the lower-priced travel trailer market. Introducing the new Access, a budget-friendly option starting at $29,600. This model offers various lengths and layouts, accommodating up to eight people. When it hits the market in November 2023, it will become the most affordable trailer in Winnebago’s lineup.

So, what do you get for this price? Standard features include electric tongue and stabilization jacks, water tank pad heaters, a two-inch accessory receiver hitch, built-in WiFi, an enclosed underside with heating for pipes and wires, and an innovative aero-shaped front. Depending on the layout, there is a queen-size bed located either at the front or rear, along with a sofa and a dinette area that converts into a bed.

While specific details regarding options and upgrades are not yet available, Winnebago’s website showcases four floorplans. Two of them, the 25ML and 30BH, feature large slideouts on the left side, providing additional room for theater seating. The 28FK model also offers theater seating, but with a smaller slideout. The fourth model, the 26BH, omits slideouts in favor of an exterior kitchen equipped with a pull-out griddle, drawers, and a refrigerator. The 26BH and 30BH also include bunk beds. All layouts feature a full bathroom, a spacious dinette, and a kitchen with a three-burner stove.

While a comprehensive list of options is yet to be revealed, Winnebago has highlighted a few upgrades for the Access line. These include porcelain toilets, LED lights for the interior and exterior, and rectangular skylights for natural light. Thicker sidewalls are offered as an upgrade to enhance the trailer’s strength.

The Access is significantly more affordable than Winnebago’s other offerings, such as the Winnebago Hike 100 overlanding trailer, which starts at $46,135. The Access could appeal to new buyers looking for a cost-effective option.

Winnebago plans to announce full pricing closer to the Access’ on-sale date in November. However, interested individuals can catch a glimpse of the Access in September at the Hershey RV Show in Pennsylvania.

VW T7 California Concept Walkaround Video Showcases Versatile New Camper

Since Volkswagen introduced the first Transporter, camper versions have been popular among enthusiasts. These compact campers have earned a devoted following. Recently, Volkswagen unveiled the new California camper, based on the latest Multivan, and Top Gear was there to showcase it in a walkaround video.

The new California is referred to as a concept by Volkswagen, but it is actually based on the current T7 Multivan, which was launched in 2022. Unlike its predecessors, the new California features two sliding doors, adding to its versatility. Although the second door takes up some space for the kitchenette, the new model still manages to include a refrigerator, cooktop, foldout table, prep space, and storage in a compact package.

Isuzu 4WD Box Truck Camper Is The Ultimate Stealth Off-Road RV

School bus camper conversions are quite popular, but there aren’t as many DIY box truck builds. At first glance, this plain white Isuzu looks like a regular work truck. That’s exactly what the owner wants people to think, because the interior is far from work-related.

Shared on YouTube by Tiny House Giant Journey, this camper is the full-time home for builder Luke and his daughter. It was built four years ago, and so far Luke has invested around $54,000 in it. This includes the 2007 Isuzu NPR, which is equipped with four-wheel drive. The cab is not luxurious, and it can be a bit noisy while traveling, but it has a simple 4WD system and an engine that’s easy to service. This makes it surprisingly capable in urban environments with tight spaces and off-road as a legitimate overlanding RV.

Isuzu Custom Camper

But the mechanical details aren’t the main focus here. Luke built the living space from scratch to make it an all-season home. He and his daughter love the outdoors, so he incorporated mounts for bicycles and skis near the front and rear doors. Instead of a garage space at the back, there’s a removable table and a futon that converts into a queen bed. The open space also features a massive glass door that’s revealed when the standard cargo door is opened. As an additional bonus, the electric lift ramp normally used for loading cargo now serves as a back porch.

Moving forward, the kitchen area makes use of a large toolbox that doubles as cabinet space with a countertop. An old-school entertainment center functions as storage for the refrigerator and electrical system, including a bank of batteries and a 3,000-watt inverter. Across from that is a sink and a two-burner gas stove with a hood vent. This is also where the wood stove is located, which adds ambiance and warmth to the camper.

The front of the camper serves as the main bedroom with two large beds for Luke and his daughter. It also houses a fully enclosed bathroom with a spacious shower and a toilet with a bidet. Three tank heaters keep the water warm in the winter, powered by a large propane tank that rarely needs refilling.

According to the video, maintaining the worn look of the Isuzu’s exterior is essential for parking in places where regular RVs wouldn’t be allowed. The downside is the lack of windows unless the cargo door is open, but Luke says that the stealth aspect is crucial for comfort in various locations. It’s definitely one of the coolest camper builds that combines both utility and a stealthy exterior.

Caselani has previously developed several ‘neo-retro’ body styles for Citroën models.

‘Van life’ has become a popular way of travelling, and the Type Holidays camper sets itself apart with its unique design reminiscent of the classic Citroën Type H van. Citroën has previously explored the camper van market with concept vehicles such as the Hyphen, Rip Curl, and Citroënist. New Volkswagen California swaps to car platform, gains PHEV

The new Volkswagen California concept previews the “future of the camper van,” showcasing extensive upgrades that will be featured on the seventh-generation model set to launch next year.

This concept, based on the Volkswagen Multivan, was revealed at the Caravan Salon trade fair in Düsseldorf. It displayed significant changes, such as a plug-in hybrid powertrain shared with the Multivan, which will be introduced to the campervan as it moves over to VW’s car-derived MQB architecture.

The concept shares the Multivan’s plug-in hybrid powertrain, which combines a 148bhp 1.4-litre petrol engine with a 114bhp electric motor, resulting in a total power output of 215bhp. It also draws power from a 13kWh battery, providing an engine-off range of around 25 miles.

One of the major updates to the Ford Transit Custom Nugget rival is the addition of a second sliding door. This addresses a key concern for current California owners in right-hand-drive markets since the outgoing T6.1 model only has a door on the right-hand side, which can complicate drop-offs on the curb.

The addition of the second sliding door also allows for the kitchen to be accessed from outside the vehicle for the first time. This gives owners a greater sense of living space. The kitchen includes larger worktops, a hob, a cool box, and a sink. Built-in extendable awnings further enhance the living area.

The concept also includes modern features such as adjustable LEDs that can light up the cupboards and awning arms, creating a pleasant ambiance on the vehicle’s terrace. A removable camping light is also provided. Additionally, there is a built-in shower that attaches to the open hatch of the boot.

However, the key feature that makes this concept ideal for the modern age is a new removable tablet device. This device controls all the relevant camping features, such as raising the pop-up roof and providing information on water levels, interior lighting functions, power supply status, refrigerator, and auxiliary. It even allows for watching movies and television.

New 2024 Ford Nugget camper reinvented with PHEV power

The 2024 Ford Nugget camper has been redesigned with plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) power. This luxurious camper van is based on the Ford Transit and offers a roomier interior, improved dynamics, and more advanced technology compared to its predecessor. The new Nugget is also based on the upcoming Transit Custom, which is the latest generation of the popular van in Europe and the UK.

The market for leisure vehicles in Europe has seen significant growth, with the number of motorhomes sold in the region doubling between 2016 and 2021. The compact camper van segment is particularly growing, making the Nugget an important part of Ford’s strategy. Ford sells around 30,000 Nuggets per year.

The Nugget is now available to order in certain markets, with a starting price of around €76,500 in Germany and approximately £65,000 in the UK.

The camper is based on the new Transit Custom platform, which gives it a fresh look and improved usability and functionality. The interior has been redesigned to offer easier movement with a lower, flatter floor and a more compact dashboard. It also features an integrated side step and class-leading sliding side door and rear tailgate apertures.

The cabin can accommodate five people and has sleeping arrangements for four. The Nugget has been developed in collaboration with conversion partner Westfalia, which has been involved in every Nugget model since 1986.

Ford has focused on creating a camper that meets the needs of the digital age. The company has worked closely with existing Nugget owners to identify areas for improvement and has incorporated their feedback into the reinvented model.

Volkswagen California T7 Teaser Gives Sneak Peek of Pop-Up Roof Ahead of August 24 Debut

A new teaser image offers a glimpse of the upcoming Volkswagen T7 California camper concept, which will make its debut on August 24 at the Caravan Salon show in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The teaser image, shown below, has been brightened to reveal more details. The van features a two-tone paint scheme, with a silver top and a red bottom. It rides on five-spoke wheels with metallic accents near the rim. An illuminated “California” badge can be seen below the rear license plate. The pop-up roof is shown in the raised position.

VW refers to the vehicle premiering in Düsseldorf as a concept. However, spy photos (see below) show the production version of the new T7 California without any camouflage. From what can be seen, the two vehicles appear almost identical on the outside, although there may be differences in the interior.

VW has confirmed that the pop-up roof adds an additional 6.5 feet (two meters) of height when deployed. The company has also equipped the van with a new touchscreen control panel for adjusting features such as the thermostat, lights, and cooling box.
