Billy Bolt: “I’m pretty happy really with a 1-2-1. I rode well in the second race – I just made a few bad decisions and took too long to get to the front. I think everyone was expecting an eruption when I got back to the pits but I was pretty chilled to be honest. I knew I rode well, but I just didn’t put myself in the right place on the track. Overall though I was happy with my riding the whole night and I got better each race, I think. I switched up my line in the rocks on the final race so I think that made a difference and gave me some breathing room on what was a difficult track that Jonny pushed me hard on all night. I’ll keep working over Christmas and come back swinging in Germany.”

SHOT OF THE WEEK

I discovered this shot gathering spider spooge within the storage. It was shot following the Glen Helen MXGP in 1992 and we had been testing a number of the ‘works’ machines that had made the trek over from Europe. The professionals made this bounce seem like cake, however for an enduro rider it was fairly stinking hairball. Fran Kuhn captured me manning up on a really potent CR500.

Watch Sebastian Vettel And David Coulthard Drive Red Bull F1 Cars At The Nürburgring

# Watch Sebastian Vettel And David Coulthard Drive Red Bull F1 Cars At The Nürburgring

We usually share videos of camouflaged prototypes of future road cars at the Nürburgring. However, this video is quite different and even more entertaining. It features not just one, but two Formula 1 cars, driven by a four-time F1 champion and a 13-time Grand Prix winner. Sebastian Vettel was reunited with his RB7, the championship-winning car from 2011 when Red Bull Racing secured both the drivers’ and constructors’ titles.

David Coulthard, on the other hand, drove the RB8 that Red Bull Racing used in the 2012 season, when Vettel won another title and the team secured the constructors’ championship. Coulthard is a former Red Bull driver himself, having raced for the team from 2005 to 2008.

Unfortunately, the video doesn’t show a full lap at full throttle around the Nürburgring. The ex-F1 drivers didn’t push the cars to their maximum potential. Additionally, they were accompanied by a previous-generation BMW M4 Coupe, which served as the safety car. Nevertheless, it is still a joy to watch these masters at work, driving an F1 car on one of the most challenging circuits in the world. The soundtrack also adds to the experience, reminding us of the V8 era that ended after the 2013 season.

It’s worth mentioning that Sebastian Vettel, who is currently 36 years old, has not completely ruled out a comeback to F1 after his retirement at the end of the 2022 season. If Lewis Hamilton (38 years old) and Fernando Alonso (42 years old) can still be competitive in 2023, why shouldn’t a younger driver and a winner of 53 F1 races consider returning?

Editor’s letter: Can Tata’s gigafactory save the UK automotive industry?

Tata’s plan to construct a £4 billion gigafactory holds great potential for boosting electric car manufacturing in the UK, which is much needed.

Tata’s recent announcement of a new 40GWh battery factory expected to be operational by 2026 is a step towards finding a solution to the challenges faced by the industry. However, it is important to note that this is just the beginning, and more actions will be required.

Nevertheless, this development is significant as it brings a glimmer of hope to the otherwise gloomy outlook for car manufacturing in the UK during this era of electric vehicles.

Facelifted Mahindra XUV300 Caught On Camera Again Revealing Two New Details

The latest spy shot reveal an XUV700-inspired floating touchscreen system and a fresh set of alloy wheels

  • Exterior revisions are expected to include a split grille setup and connected taillights.

  • It should also get a heavily updated cabin.

  • New features could consist of a digital driver’s display and ventilated front seats.

  • Likely to continue with the same engine options as the current model; might get a torque converter unit instead of an AMT option.

  • It is expected to go on sale by early next year, and could be priced from Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards.

The facelifted Mahindra XUV300 is under development and another test mule of the SUV has been spotted. Though it was draped in heavy camouflage,  a couple of new details are still visible on both exterior and interior. Let’s have a look at what these details are hinting us at.

What’s Visible Under The Wrap?

At a first glance, the most noticeable change on the test mule is the new design of the alloy wheels. Also, if you try to peek inside of the test mule, a new floating touchscreen is visible, which looks inspired from its bigger sibling, the XUV700.

The updated XUV300 will also get comprehensive changes on both front and rear ends, including refreshed split grille setup, bonnet and bumper. At the rear, the boot lid now looks more muscular than before, and the license plate has been repositioned for a better look.  We also expect it to feature XUV700 inspired C-shaped LED DRLs and LED headlights upfront, and connected LED tail light setup at the rear.

Amenities To Expect

Mahindra XUV300 Cabin

The facelifted XUV300 will likely feature a big floating touchscreen setup running Mahindra’s latest operating system, a digital driver’s display, a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charger and ventilated front seats. Some existing features such as a single-pane sunroof and cruise control should likely be retained.

The safety kit on the new facelifted subcompact SUV will be carried over from the existing model, which includes up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, all-wheel disc brakes and a rearview camera.

What Will Propel It?

Mahindra XUV300 Engine

The 2024 XUV300 should come with the same engine options as the current model, which are a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine (110PS/200Nm) and a 1.5-litre diesel engine (117PS/300Nm). Both engines are mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT. Mahindra also offers a 1.2-litre TGDi turbo-petrol engine (130PS/250Nm), which is only available with the 6-speed manual. We believe that Mahindra could provide a torque converter unit instead of the currently available AMT gearbox on the facelifted SUV.

Launch, Expected Price & Rivals

The facelifted Mahindra XUV300 is expected to be launched by early 2024, at  a starting price of Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom). It will continue its rivalry with the likes of the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza and Kia Sonet.
