Acura Electric Vision Concept: A Glimpse into the Future of Acura’s Electric Performance

Acura has unveiled its Electric Vision Concept, which showcases the future evolution of its Precision Crafted Performance design language. While it’s uncertain if this concept will make it to local Acura dealerships in its current form, elements of its design may influence future models from the company.

This isn’t the first time Acura has translated a concept’s design into production models successfully. Used car advert tool tackles online sales fraud

A new tool has been developed to combat the growing problem of online car sales scams by helping buyers identify suspiciously low-priced adverts. Brego Advert Check is a free online tool that allows users to compare the advertised price of a used vehicle with its estimated dealer price and auction value. If the price seems too good to be true, buyers are advised to exercise caution and visit the dealer in person before proceeding with the purchase. The tool was created in response to a rising number of scams where buyers are tricked into paying a deposit or full payment for a non-existent car that has been intentionally underpriced. These fraudulent sellers are typically unwilling to accept credit card payments, leaving buyers empty-handed.

The co-founder of Brego, Simon Hunt, was motivated to develop the tool after seeing numerous reports of people falling victim to these scams. Hunt noted that the sophistication of the fraudsters indicated that their tactics were proving successful, and he felt compelled to take action. The Advert Check tool was designed within a few days, allowing buyers to input the registration number, mileage, and price of the vehicle they are interested in. They can also provide the website address of the seller, although this is optional. By comparing the selling price to Brego’s dealer price and auction value data, the tool determines the extent of the price discrepancy and informs the buyer accordingly.

Vauxhall to Offer Fully-Electric Variant of Every Model from 2024 with Launch of Crossland Successor

Vauxhall is moving closer to becoming a fully electric brand by 2028, as the Crossland successor will have an all-electric version in 2024. This means that every Vauxhall model will have a battery-electric variant by next year.
 

Vauxhall’s expanding electrified range currently includes five fully-electric passenger car models: Corsa Electric, Mokka Electric, Combo Life Electric, Vivaro Life Electric, and the newly available Astra Electric. The Astra Sports Tourer Electric will be introduced later this year. The Crossland and Grandland successors will complete the brand’s fully-electric offering in 2024.
 

Vauxhall is one of the few manufacturers to offer a fully-electric variant across its entire LCV range, including Combo Electric, Vivaro Electric, and Movano Electric.
 

James Taylor, Managing Director of Vauxhall, stated that in 2024, they will achieve the significant milestone of offering a fully-electric variant for every model. This also means that all future Vauxhall models will have a fully-electric variant from their launch, showing their commitment to driving towards an electric future in Britain.
 

Aside from fully-electric options, Vauxhall also offers Plug-In Hybrid versions of the Astra, Astra Sports Tourer, and Grandland. These models are part of Vauxhall’s new electrified performance sub-brand, GSe (Grand Sport electric). The Grandland GSe is currently the most powerful model, with a system power output of 300hp and maximum torque of 520Nm.
 

Vauxhall will also introduce a new Hybrid powertrain to its electrified line-up. The New Corsa will have 100hp and 136hp engines with a new dual-clutch automatic transmission, giving customers the choice between battery-electric, Hybrid, or highly efficient combustion engines.

Nissan Formula E Team takes double top-five finish in Jakarta

JAKARTA, Indonesia – Nissan Formula E Team took their best result of the season in Jakarta, with Sacha Fenestraz and Norman Nato both putting in excellent performances to take fourth and fifth respectively in Round 11 of the 2022/23 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

After a tough first race of the weekend for the squad, Fenestraz claimed second in his qualifying group on Sunday, progressing to the Duels. The Franco-Argentine driver started seventh, and got an excellent launch off the line, moving up to fourth by the end of Lap 1.

Meanwhile, Frenchman Nato was making solid progress through the field, keeping cool in the Jakarta heat to make places during the Attack Mode phase. Having started 12th, Nato avoided incidents ahead of him and used his speed and overtaking ability to move further into the top-10.

Helped by the team’s strong strategy, both drivers continued to push into the higher points-paying positions, challenging for a podium spot until the final corner. The pair combined for 22 points, the squad’s best result of the season so far.

Formula E returns on 24 June for the final single-header of the season, as the series makes it first visit to Portland, USA.

Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal, Nissan Formula E Team: “A rollercoaster of a weekend, with a tough race yesterday and a really good one today. We were stronger in qualifying and had a much better strategy during the race. Both drivers did a great job, with some impressive overtakes. Sacha even battled for the podium until the final corner, while Norman’s defense was very solid at the end of the race. We can be very happy with our performance and proud of the team and drivers. Our focus now is to take this positive showing into the next round in Portland to pick up even more points there.”

Sacha Fenestraz: “This weekend was a good way to see our strengths and weaknesses as a team. Today was a very positive race, it was great for the crew to reward their hard work over the last few months. Yesterday was quite frustrating, but we came back strongly and both cars had very good pace. Norman did a superb job to come from P12 on the grid to P5 at the finish and I’m really happy that we both took a strong result. The heat was definitely a challenge, but the humidity was the most difficult. However, we pushed through as a team to score some really good points. I’m now looking forward to Portland, it’s a brand-new track for all of us so it should be an interesting one!”

Norman Nato: “Today was really positive. We changed the setup, because yesterday we weren’t so competitive and it worked for us. We managed to put it all together in the race and react from the frustration of Saturday to get a great result for both cars. We’ll now look to analyze this one to see what we can do to continue improving for Portland. We had strong pace throughout today’s event, so we have to aim to score big points for the rest of the season. We’re not far off the leading teams based on this performance, and we have five races left to prove what we can do this year.”

About Nissan in Formula E
Nissan made its all-electric racing debut in Season 5 (2018/19) of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, becoming the first and only Japanese manufacturer to enter the series.
