Key Points to Consider When Buying a New Computer at Costco

If you are not aware, Costco is a reliable retailer for purchasing PCs, provided you have a membership. They offer prebuilt PCs with features like liquid cooling and RGB lighting, just like other brands. Additionally, Costco provides promotions such as free game copies with your purchase, as exemplified by “Alan Wake 2”. Their laptops come with enticing offers, including a free year of Microsoft Office 365 Personal subscription, which is ideal for work and leisure activities.

One of the main advantages of shopping at Costco is the warranty they offer. When you buy a new PC, it automatically comes with a two-year warranty, providing peace of mind for significant purchases. This warranty also extends to other products like televisions, phones, projectors, appliances, and even Apple products bought from Costco. Moreover, you can benefit from free technical support and troubleshooting advice whenever you need it. In case you are dissatisfied with your purchase, Costco has a 90-day return policy.

If you are in the market for a gaming PC, you can expect to spend over $1,000 for a high-end rig at Costco. However, they also offer more affordable options for casual or work use, with laptops costing a few hundred dollars. Regardless of your choice, the warranty and return policy remain the same. The only drawback is that you need a membership to access these deals if you don’t already have one.

Mater From Cars Gets Crocs Makeover To Be A Tow Truck For Your Toes

You might already have the Lightning McQueen Crocs in your closet (assuming you snagged a pair before they sold out), and now Pixar and teaming up with the iconic clog brand for another iconic character – the tow truck Mater. When wearing them, you can be a precisional instrument of speed and aromatics (see the video below if you don’t get the reference). They just went on sale today, Tuesday, October 17, and are already sold out in adult sizes.

The Mater Crocs feature the character’s prominent teeth and smiling mouth on the toe. A partially exposed engine sticks up from the toebox, and a pair of eyes stare forward. The heel strap looks like a stylized tow truck boom. There’s even a little hook on the back of this piece. The midsole features a Tow Mater logo with mud speckles and rear wheels. The back has a graphic with tow hooks and a license plate.

While they were available on the Crocs site, the adult-sized Mater Crocs were $59.95. The kids’ sizes are $49.99, and the ones for toddlers are $44.99.

This is the second collaboration between Crocs and the Cars franchise. There were previously shoes featuring series protagonist Lightning McQueen, and they even had LED lights that illuminated when the wearer walked.

When Crocs initially launched the adult-sized Lightning McQueen shoes in May 2019, they sold out quickly. The company released a second batch in September 2022. Now, only kids’ sizes are available for $54.99.

According to Box Office Mojo, Cars is Pixar’s third-highest-grossing franchise with total earnings of $588,436,493 across the three films. The Incredibles has made $870,022,836 with just two movies in the series, and the six Toy Story entries have made $1,318,120,746.

Don’t Let Corrosion Kill Your Gadgets: How To Clean And Protect Your Device’s Batteries

Battery corrosion is a direct result of a battery acid leak. Assuming the batteries you’re using were manufactured properly, a leak generally arises from damage or mishandling. Obviously, if you crack a battery against a solid kitchen counter, it will probably start leaking, but batteries can also be damaged in quieter, subtler ways.

One of a battery’s mortal enemies is extreme hot and cold temperatures. A battery’s casing is designed to withstand both modest hot and cold, but prolonged exposure to high levels of either can warp the casing and allow the acid to leak out. For both the batteries and the gadgets you use them in, keep them in an even-temperature location, out of direct sunlight or vent exposure. Additionally, if you have a toy or gadget that you’re not actively using and won’t be for a while, you should take the batteries out of it. It’s bad enough when a battery starts leaking on its own, but if it leaks in a gadget, the gadget will also be in trouble.

In the specific case of toys, try not to keep them all in a bin if possible, as it’s much harder to monitor for corrosion until it’s already too late.

How to Fix a Non-Working Laptop Touchpad

If you’re facing issues with the touchpad on your Windows laptop, the most likely cause is the drivers. Unless there is a hardware problem, which would be easily noticeable, the problem is likely related to the mouse and pointer drivers. There are two options you can try to fix the issue.

Option 1: Update the Driver

  1. Type “Device Manager” in the Start menu search bar.
  2. Open the Device Manager.
  3. Expand either the “Human Interface Devices” or “Mice and other pointing devices” tab.
  4. Locate your trackpad on the list.
  5. Right-click on your trackpad and select “Update driver”.

The update wizard will automatically check for driver updates and install them if available.

Option 2: Reinstall the Driver

  1. Type “Device Manager” in the Start menu search bar.
  2. Open the Device Manager.
  3. Expand either the “Human Interface Devices” or “Mice and other pointing devices” tab.
  4. Locate your trackpad on the list.
  5. Right-click on your trackpad and select “Uninstall device”.
  6. Confirm the uninstallation.
  7. Restart your PC.

When your PC restarts, Windows will automatically detect the missing driver and reinstall it, hopefully resolving any touchpad issues in the process.
