Max May Provide Free Sports Streaming Later This Year – But Temporarily

Streaming rights to professional sports can be complex, with large corporations constantly securing and losing broadcast rights. Currently, no streaming service offers all major professional or collegiate-level sports on a single platform. To watch every game, cable subscriptions are still necessary (possibly intentional).

There are many uncertainties regarding when Max will begin streaming major sports leagues and the associated costs. Amazon, Paramount, and Peacock are already ahead in terms of live content. It is important to avoid exclusive contracts that may result in local media blackout for non-Max subscribers or users of other sports streaming platforms. Moreover, the addition of yet another sports streaming service may only add to the confusion of watching live sports without cable.

Did Pricing For The 2024 BMW R 1300 GS Accidentally Leak Ahead Of Launch?

If you’ve ever done any digital publishing, either for professional or personal reasons, then you probably have some idea of how easy it can be to publish something by accident. Mistakes happen sometimes, and if you’re lucky, you catch them in time.

What the concept of “in time” means depends on whether you’re the one who made the mistake, or the journalist digging for information. Thanks to some quick screencapping reflexes by someone at the German publication Motorrad, the global motorcycling community may have accidentally gotten a hint at pricing for the upcoming 2024 BMW R 1300 GS.

According to our European friends, the information briefly appeared in a BMW Financial Services drop down menu on the US website. The menu option was quickly yanked down, and our own inspection of that site and drop down menu shows that it’s no longer visible as of the afternoon of August 14, 2023.

2024 BMW R 1250 lineup pricing (note the absence of the GS), screencapped on August 14, 2023 by RideApart.

If the information that Motorrad screencapped is correct, US pricing should be $19,590. Pricing for motorcycles by international OEMs is often not a direct conversion, so it’s not yet clear what (if anything) that pricing might mean for other markets.

A perusal of the same site on August 14, 2023, yields American market pricing information for the 2024 R 1250 GS Adventure, as well as the 2024 R 1250 R, RS, and RT. The R 1250 GS Adventure will be $21,440. The R 1250 R will be $16,040, the R 1250 RS will be $16,690, and the R 1250 RT will be $20,690. It’s not yet clear if there are plans for an R 1300 GS Adventure immediately upon its unveiling at the end of September 2023, nor how such an introduction might impact pricing of the R 1250 GS Adventure when it becomes available.

Still, if this screencap is accurate, it makes sense considering the pricing information we’ve seen for existing models. At this point, nothing is official until BMW confirms it, but it’s still an interesting potential glimpse into the future.

At this point, we’ve seen plenty of spy shots of the upcoming R 1300 GS in what must be the final phases of testing. BMW announced its plans to reveal the R 1300 GS to the world on September 28, 2023, which is slightly over a month away at the time of writing. We don’t know how soon after that date pricing and availability will be announced, but it will be interesting to see how accurate this leak ends up being.

Vettel Will Drive His F1 Cars at Goodwood FoS Using Sustainable Fuel

Sebastian Vettel, the four-time Formula One World Champion, will showcase the practicality of fossil-free synthetic fuel by driving a selection of his personal F1 cars at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Vettel will use P1 Fuels sustainable fuel to race Nigel Mansell’s 1992 title-winning Williams Renault and Ayrton Senna’s 1993 Monaco Grand Prix-winning McLaren Ford. The vehicles’ V10 and V8 engines require no modifications to run on this direct replacement fuel. Vettel will drive both cars up the festival’s famous hill course over the weekend.

This demonstration comes as more automakers and companies start to explore synthetic fuel’s potential. Last year, Porsche began producing synthetic fuel at a plant in Chile, using it in the first drops of the nearly carbon-neutral fuel in a 911. While production will increase through 2027, it is not enough to replace our daily consumption of fossil fuel.

In April, Stellantis announced that it was testing synthetic fuels in several of its engines. The company evaluated 28 gasoline and diesel engine families built between 2014 and 2029, examining emissions, power, reliability, and other engine parameters.

The European Union also showed support for synthetic fuels earlier this year by allowing the sale of new cars that run on them. However, automakers must meet certain requirements for implementing the technology and ensuring vehicles do not use regular gasoline or diesel fuel.

While synthetic e-fuels still require a significant amount of energy to create, limiting their ability to reduce CO2 emissions, advancements continue to be made. Toyota CEO Koji Sato believes the technology must overcome this hurdle before it can be widely adopted.

Porsche’s production facility in southern Chile takes advantage of the region’s wind conditions, which allow the plant’s wind turbines to operate optimally and power the energy-intensive production process. Critics, such as Volkswagen brand boss Thomas Schäfer, have labeled e-fuel technology as unnecessary noise.

Vettel’s F1 career began in 2007, and he achieved his first Grand Prix win for Toro Rosso at Monza in 2008. He went on to win his first World Championship for Red Bull in 2010 and subsequently claimed three more titles during his 16-year career before retiring in December of last year.

‘Being Young’ a short documentary presented by Nissan to debut on ESPN+

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Those who cannot get enough of Bryce Young’s path to professional football can soon learn more about his journey in “Being Young,” an authorized short streaming documentary profiling the 2021 Heisman winner. The film launches Friday, May 26 on ESPN+, and will air on ESPN2 on Tuesday, May 30 at 7 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time.

Directed by Academy Award-nominated Matt Ogens and Emmy-nominated Maeyen Bassey, and produced by m ss ng p eces, “Being Young” chronicles Young’s path from youth to professional football and features candid interviews with Young and his parents, former teammates, teachers and coaches, plus other athletes who have benefited from new NIL rules.

The film is presented by Nissan who was among the first brands to engage with Young under new Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) rules for its 2022 Nissan Heisman House campaign.

This unique content provides an outstanding example of how an athlete can build their personal brand while remaining true to themselves and focused on their sport,” said Marisstella Marinkovic, vice president and Chief Marketing Officer, Nissan U.S. “As student athletes begin to define who they are through NIL deals, it’s important that they select the right partners, and the right time to engage with high profile opportunities whether it be on a local, regional or national stage”

Young received the Heisman Trophy in December 2021. The honor came on the heels of a historic Supreme Court decision allowing collegiate athletes to negotiate NIL deals for the first time. As one of the first athletes to engage with brands under the new NIL rulings, Young joined the 2022 Nissan Heisman House cast alongside current and former pro football players. Young was later selected first overall in the 2023 draft.

“I’m not going to do anything business-wise that takes away from me on the field, and everyone on my team knows that,” Young shares in the documentary. “I’m extremely grateful for what it [NIL] has done for me and for my family, all that it’s done for all athletes.”

The sponsorship demonstrates Nissan’s continued dedication to helping educate and elevate college athletes. Since 2015, Nissan has sponsored select NCAA Championships and 45 colleges, including seven Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). In 2022, Nissan also launched its New Frontiers program featuring conversations with Heisman House veterans to help inspire college athletes to build an intentional, beneficial personal brand.
