Audi RS 6 Performance Avant vs Audi R8: Which Wins A Drag Race?

The Audi R8 Performance Spyder is considered one of the best supercars in the world. It boasts immense power, a convertible top, distinctive style, impressive performance, and, perhaps most notably, the unique and rare sound of a V10 engine. However, Audi is no stranger to creating incredible high-performance vehicles, and the upgraded Audi RS 6 Avant Performance is one of them. The Audi RS 6 Performance may appear as a regular station wagon with sporty styling, but it hides even more power under the hood. Its twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine produces a whopping 621 horsepower. On the other hand, the R8 Performance derives 612 horsepower from its naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine.

Matching up the supercar with the super wagon in a drag race is sure to yield interesting results. Despite the R8 having slightly less power, its lighter weight and sharper focus on performance could give it an advantage. On the other hand, the RS 6, with its higher power output, might outpace the sleek supercar. Additionally, the RS 6 offers the convenience of back seats and trunk space. It’s worth noting that the R8, with its naturally aspirated engine, doesn’t have to worry about turbo lag.

In the first race, the R8 emerged as the winner, although it was a close call. In the second race, the RS 6 made a better launch and took an early lead but eventually succumbed to the R8 towards the end, resulting in another close second-place finish. The R8 completed the quarter-mile in 10.9 seconds, while the RS 6 did it in 11.2 seconds. The races continued in a similar manner, but at the end of the day, even being second is a testament to the remarkable performance of the Audi RS 6 Avant. It can keep up with Audi’s exceptional flagship supercar while offering the convenience of carrying cargo and passengers in the back.

Overall Design

Hyundai Exter Front

The Hyundai Exter features a boxy design language. The front profile has a bold and upright fascia with a skid plate, stubby bonnet, and H-shaped LED DRLs. Below the DRLs are square-housing LED headlights.

Hyundai Exter Side

The side profile showcases cladding for a more prominent SUV look, and the wheel arches bulge outward. The micro-SUV also comes with 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

Hyundai Exter Rear

At the back, the Exter has a bold look similar to the front. The tail lamps feature the same H-shaped element as the front, with the lamps joined by a thick black strip. The rear skid plate starts high to give it a more rugged appearance.

Cabin Look

Hyundai Exter Cabin

The interiors of the Hyundai Exter look identical to that of the Grand i10 Nios. It has the same centre console layout, and the dashboard has the same diamond pattern as the Grand i10 Nios. The difference lies in the color scheme, with the Hyundai Exter having an all-black cabin. It also features semi-leatherette seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Features & Safety

Hyundai Exter Dashboard

As for features, the Exter offers an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a semi-digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charger, paddle shifters, cruise control, a single-pane sunroof with voice commands, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, and a dual-camera dashcam.

For passenger safety, it has six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), vehicle stability management (VSM), hill hold assist, and 3-point seatbelts for all passengers as standard. Higher variants of the micro-SUV offer additional features such as a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), day and night IRVM, a rearview camera, and a rear defogger.

Powertrain

Hyundai Exter Engine

The Exter has the same engine option as the Grand i10 Nios and Aura: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 82PS and 113Nm of torque. This engine is available with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT transmission.

It also has a CNG powertrain option for this engine, which generates a lower output of 69PS and 95Nm. The CNG variants, like most CNG cars, are only available with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Hyundai has also revealed the fuel efficiency figures of the Exter. The petrol-manual variant claims a mileage of 19.4 kmpl, the petrol-AMT variant claims 19.2 kmpl, and the CNG variant has a fuel efficiency of 27.1 km/kg.

Rivals

Hyundai Exter

The Hyundai Exter directly competes with the Tata Punch and the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, but it can also be considered an alternative to larger cars such as the Citroen C3, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, and the Maruti Fronx.

Volkswagen Caddy Spy Photos Show eHybrid Variant

This week, spy photos have emerged of the new Volkswagen Caddy being tested in Spain. The small van was spotted without camouflage in passenger configuration and had two fuel filler caps, one of which is located in the front. This suggests that the vehicle is equipped with a plug-in hybrid electric powertrain.

There were previous speculations that the Volkswagen Caddy would utilize the same hybrid system found in the current Golf model. This system combines a 1.4-liter four-cylinder TSI gasoline engine with an electric motor to deliver a total output of up to 245 horsepower. However, it is now rumored that Volkswagen is developing a slightly larger version of this powertrain, using a 1.5-liter four-cylinder TSI gasoline engine. Specific details about the lithium-ion battery pack have not been disclosed, but it is expected to provide an all-electric range of around 60 kilometers or approximately 37 miles.

CITROËN OPENS ORDERS FOR PETROL AND DIESEL NEW C4 X

  • Orders are now open for the petrol and diesel versions of the New C4 X, following high demand from customers.
  • The range complements the fully electric New ë-C4 X, giving buyers the option to choose the powertrain that suits their needs.
  • The launch includes two petrol engines and one diesel engine.
  • Petrol models are available in Sense, Sense Plus, Shine, and Shine Plus variants, while diesel models are exclusively sold in Shine Plus.
  • This range update follows the earlier update to the New ë-C4 X, which introduced a next-generation 54kWh battery technology.
  • The New ë-C4 X is equipped with a 54kWh battery and a 115kw electric motor, enabling it to achieve a range of up to 260 miles (WLTP) on a full charge.

In response to high demand from customers, Citroën has announced that orders are now open for the petrol and diesel variants of the New C4 X. These models complement the fully electric New ë-C4 X, which has already been available in the market. The prices for the petrol and diesel variants start from £22,080 OTR, and the first deliveries are scheduled to begin in July 2023.

At the launch, customers have the choice between two petrol powertrains: the PureTech 100 S&S with a six-speed manual transmission or the PureTech 130 S&S EAT8 with an eight-speed automatic transmission. As for the diesel variants, they will be sold exclusively with Citroën’s efficient BlueHDi 130 S&S EAT8 with an eight-speed manual transmission.

Starting from July production, the New ë-C4 X will receive a powertrain upgrade, featuring a 115 kW electric motor with a 54 kWh battery. This new powertrain, which was announced in May, will increase the range of the New ë-C4 X to up to 260 miles (WLTP), compared to the previous range of 222 miles (WLTP). This upgrade will be exclusively available on the new ë-series trim level, in addition to the existing 100 kW motor with a 50 kWh battery that offers a range of up to 222 miles (WLTP).

The petrol variants of the New C4 X will be available in Sense, Sense Plus, Shine, and Shine Plus variants, while the diesel models will be exclusively offered in the Shine Plus trim. The fully electric New ë-C4 X will continue to be available in Sense, Shine, and the new ë-Series trims.

The ‘Sense’ models come with 18-inch ‘Aeroblade’ alloy wheels, Advanced Comfort® Seats, and a 10-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto. They are also equipped with features like Active Safety Brake, Speed Limit Information, Lane Keeping Assist, Forward Collision Warning, and Driver Attention Alert.

The ‘Sense Plus’ models build on the standard equipment of the ‘Sense’ versions and add My Citroën Drive Plus, the next-generation infotainment, and navigation system with integrated natural voice commands. They also feature a head-up display and a reversing camera with Top Rear Vision.

Stepping up to the ‘Shine’ trim level, the exterior look is enhanced with dark tinted rear windows, chrome details, and bi-tone diamond-cut versions of the 18-inch ‘Aeroblade’ alloy wheels. Additional convenience features include Automatic Intelligent Beam Headlights, an auto-dimming electrochrome interior rear-view mirror, and front and lateral parking sensors. Safety is improved with Advanced Active Safety Brake with night-time and cyclist detection, as well as Extended Traffic Sign Recognition.

The range-topping ‘Shine Plus’ versions further enhance the ‘Shine’ models with heated Alcantara® seats for the driver and front passenger, as well as Citroën’s Highway Driver Assist, a level 2 semi-autonomous driving technology that combines lane-keeping assistance with adaptive cruise control for a more relaxed driving experience. The Ë-C4 X electric versions have their own dedicated top trim level called ‘ë-Series’, which includes features like wireless smartphone charging, the 8-speaker Citroën Hi-Fi system, Onyx Black ‘Aeroblade’ 18-inch alloy wheels, and a distinctive bi-tone Perla Nera Black roof.

Happy faces to kick off tournament week: Sporting stars and guests enjoy the BMW International Open Pro-Am tournament.

+++ The 34rd BMW International Open begins with perfect conditions +++ Thomas Müller, Sven Ulreich, and Patrick Owomoyela among the athletes enjoying a great day of golf +++ 60 children welcome the football stars at the 18th hole +++

Munich. Golfclub München Eichenried provided a stunning setting for the BMW International Open Pro-Am tournament today, with glorious sunshine adding to the atmosphere. Several athletes who have achieved success in other sports rose to the challenge of the Championship Course, which is fully prepared for the high-level competition of one of the most prestigious tournaments on the DP World Tour.

The large number of spectators, who were granted free entry to Eichenried, had the opportunity to witness the golfing skills of the following athletes up close: Gareth Bale (former Welsh international footballer and five-time Champions League winner), Martin Borgmeier (long drive world champion), Lars Riedel (Olympic discus champion), Christian Schwarzer (handball world champion), Philipp Kohlschreiber (three-time winner of the ATP tournament, the BMW Open), Patrick Owomoyela (two-time German football champion), Tobias Arlt (six-time Olympic luge champion), Bruno Spengler (BMW M works driver, DTM champion), and Maximilian Kastner (runner-up in the ice hockey world championship).

Many spectators also followed the round played by Bayern Munich stars Thomas Müller and Sven Ulreich, who teamed up with professional golfer Matti Schmid from Regensburg. This group received an enthusiastic welcome from 60 children at the 18th hole. As part of the “After School” campaign, the Bavarian Golf Association had invited young golfers from all over Bavaria to attend. The children had an unforgettable day, which included the opportunity to ask Thomas Müller their burning questions.

Watch 1972 Ford Gran Torino Get First Wash In 20 Years

The owner of this 1972 Ford Gran Torino put it in an open garage bay 20 years ago, and it sat there ever since. Now, the folks at WD Detailing drag the forgotten personal luxury coupe out of the resting place to give the vehicle a much-needed wash.

While it was partially covered, this Gran Torino still looks rough. There’s dust and grime on the body. The interior is filthy. According to the owner, a raccoon got into the engine bay at some point and tore things up.

WD Detailing focuses on cleaning the car, but the team also makes sure the engine still turns over. It does, but the Ford needs lots of work before the powerplant gets running again.

Rather than starting by washing the body like usual, the detailers begin with the cabin this time because they plan on dyeing the carpets. The upholstery on the seats is also filthy. There’s a massive mouse nest under the rear seat.

As usual, just washing the body goes a long way toward making this Gran Torino look better. Instead of using wash mitts, the crew wipes the body with sandpaper to remove the oxidation from the paint. While unorthodox, the tactic works well here.

At the end of the cleaning process, the Gran Torino looks significantly better. There’s still some patina on the body with some chipped paint and less-than-shiny chrome. Inside, there are big holes on the driver and passenger side of the front bench. Plus, there would still need to be lots of mechanical work to make the car road-worthy.

Ford introduced the Torino name in 1968 as an upmarket subseries for the Fairlane. In 1970, the Blue Oval swapped the nomenclature by making Torino the primary model and Fairlane the submodel. For the 1972 model year, the Torino entirely took over, and the Blue Oval introduced the Gran Torino moniker.

Ford offered the ’72 Torino with an inline-six and a variety of V8s. This one has an eight-cylinder powerplant, but we can’t see enough to identify which one.

The show Starsky and Hutch made the Gran Torino a TV star. The characters drove 1975 and ’76 cars with a white stripe along the side. A ’72 Gran Torino was the eponymous machine in the 2008 film Gran Torino.

PEUGEOT order books for the new 2008 will open Monday 12 June, with first deliveries due later this summer. Available in three trim levels – Active, Allure and GT – and with a choice of electric and petrol powertrains, prices for the new 2008 start from £24,020 OTR.

A more assertive design

With an updated, more assertive design, the new 2008 benefits from a wider front end incorporating the PEUGEOT shield. The extended grille is finished in gloss black on Active models, while Allure and GT trims feature a body-coloured grille design.

The front of the new 2008 also adopts the latest PEUGEOT light signature, first seen on the new 508 and 508 SW, with new ‘three-claw’ LED daytime running lights and new LED rear lights on all versions. Full LED headlights are available on GT models.

At the rear, PEUGEOT lettering runs across the entire width of the boot lid. Active models feature 16-inch wheels with a new stylish ‘Silom’ trim, while Allure and GT trims are fitted with new 17-inch ‘Karakoy’ diamond-cut alloys. GT models are further distinguished by a black diamond roof.

Electric and petrol powertrains

The new 2008 will be available from launch with a new, fully electric powertrain. Available across all trim levels, the e-2008’s new 54kWh battery brings an increased range of up to 251 miles (WLTP), while a new electric motor increases power to 156hp – an increase of 15%.

Customers can also opt for a 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine. The PureTech 100, available exclusively in Active trim, is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, while the PureTech 130 (available in Allure and GT trims) can be combined with either an EAT8 eight-speed automatic gearbox or a six-speed manual gearbox.

From 2024, a new 136hp HYBRID powertrain will join the 2008 line-up, combining a 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine with a new six-speed dual-clutch electrified gearbox incorporating an electric motor – offering up to a 20% reduction in CO2 emissions over petrol models.

Specification

PEUGEOT has simplified the trim line-up on the new 2008, bringing it into line with the rest of the PEUGEOT range. Customers can choose from Active, Allure and GT, while a First Edition model is available exclusively on the fully electric e-2008.

Front parking sensors, an electronic handbrake and a drive mode selector are also standard on Allure models.

A leather steering wheel with GT lettering, keyless entry and wireless smartphone charging enhance comfort and connectivity. Drivers can also choose from eight colours of ambient lighting linked to the drive modes.

To celebrate the launch of the new e-2008, PEUGOT is offering a First Edition model with an enhanced specification based on GT trim. Additional features include heated Alcantara® seats with ‘Adamite’ stitching. The driver’s seat is also electrically adjustable and comes with a massage function.
