More Than 560,000 People Flocked To Milan For EICMA 2023

EICMA 2023 drew in motorcycle and technology enthusiasts with its showcase of new models packed with advanced technology, blurring the lines between mobility and IoT devices. Several new models also boasted enhanced performance, pushing the envelope not only in terms of horsepower but also in refinement and safety.

This year’s show garnered huge attention from the international media and attracted more than half a million attendees. A total of 560,000 people from around the world participated in the Milan motorcycle show to witness the latest innovations in the technology-driven motorcycle industry. The expo featured a record-breaking 2,036 brands.

Although many of these brands are based in Italy, a substantial 67 percent of all exhibitors came from other countries, representing 45 nations. Out of the 2,036 featured brands, 30 percent were newcomers to the industry, highlighting the growth potential of the global motorcycle industry.

Comparing this year’s EICMA to 2022, there was an impressive 19% increase in attendance in 2023, with 563,848 people present. Moreover, 39,392 industry professionals, 52% of whom were international, joined the excitement in Milan. The event also drew over 7,000 media personalities from 62 countries, providing extensive coverage for enthusiasts worldwide.

In the official press release, Paolo Magri, CEO of EICMA, expressed his excitement about the massive success of EICMA 2023. “There is no pre- or post-pandemic, there is EICMA. Reading these results leaves no room for interpretation, confirming how our event continues to demonstrate international appeal and unique value in the world, growing uninterruptedly and exponentially since 2021,” said Magri.

Pietra Meda, the President of EICMA S.p.A., remarked, “EICMA has continued to evolve from a trade fair to an exhibition event, entering its 110th year with an open eye to the future and innovation, also serving as a cross-cultural and lifestyle event.”

Despite its long history, EICMA shows no signs of slowing down. The success of EICMA 2023 has led to the announcement of the dates for EICMA 2024. Mark your calendars for November 5 to 10, 2024, as the renowned Milan expo will return next year.

The facelifted Tata Harrier has been recently launched with a new design, more features, and a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating. However, Tata has confirmed that it will introduce two powertrain options for the mid-size SUV: the Harrier EV and Harrier Petrol. Both models are set to arrive next year, with the Harrier EV already showcased at the Auto Expo as a near-production-ready model. The Harrier petrol was confirmed during the launch of the facelifted Harrier.

The Tata Harrier EV made its debut at the Auto Expo 2023 as a near-production-ready model. Its design provided a glimpse of the updated Harrier but with EV-specific design elements. While details about its battery pack are not yet revealed, it is known that the Harrier EV is based on the Land Rover-derived OMEGA-Arc platform. It will feature all-wheel drive (AWD) with a dual-motor setup and is expected to have a claimed range of about 500km.

Its only competitor in 2024 is expected to be the electric-version of the Mahindra XUV700, known as the XUV E8.

At the same Auto Expo, Tata showcased its new 1.5-litre TGDi petrol engine, which is still under development. This engine is rated at a performance of 170PS and 280Nm. Officials from Tata confirmed that the Harrier petrol is in the works and will be equipped with this turbo-petrol engine in about a year. The first vehicle to feature Tata’s new line of turbo-petrol engines will be the Tata Curvv, which is also scheduled to arrive next year. After that, the 1.5-litre turbo unit will be added to the updated Harrier and Safari.

Meanwhile, rivals like the Mahindra XUV700 and MG Hector have been offering a turbo-petrol engine option since launch.

The Tata Harrier EV is expected to arrive in 2024 with an expected starting price of Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). The launch of the Tata Harrier petrol will depend on the launch of the Tata Curvv, which is expected to arrive by April 2024.

EICMA 2023: Discounted Tickets Until Noon Of September 18, 2023

EICMA, or the Esposizione Internazionale Ciclo Motociclo e Accessori, is by far the biggest motorcycle expo in the industry. Held in Milan, Italy, the motorcycle expo goes well beyond the Italian and European market, and features manufacturers from all over the globe. Since its inception in 1914, EICMA has been the home of innovation in the motorcycle industry.

The past few years of EICMA have been nothing short of extraordinary. The 2023 edition of EICMA is anticipated to be just as big. That being said, EICMA’s organizers want to maximize this years show, and are encouraging people from all over the world to make the journey to Milan to see what the future of the two-wheeler industry holds. For reference, EICMA 2022 saw in excess of 470,000 people visit. For 2023, this number could be even bigger, as EICMA tickets are now on sale at a discounted price. EICMA organizers have offered a promo price for the tickets until Monday, September 18, 2023.

For reference, discounted EICMA tickets will cost just 16 Euros (with an additional 1.50 Euros of fixed cost to be shouldered by the buyer). After September 18, 2023, prices of tickets will rise to 19 Euros, also with the additional 1.50 Euros of fixed cost for buyers. The organizers are reminding patrons to purchase tickets only from the EICMA official website.

In a press release, EICMA president Pietro Meda explained, “Despite the increase in inflation and the increase in costs we are working to offer our audience an even bigger and more engaging show at a price that hasn’t changed for three editions: I think it’s a an important sign of fidelity and gratitude to all enthusiasts.” EICMA 2023 will be held at the Fiero Milano Rho from November 9 to 12, 2023.
