Toyota Develops New Technology to Improve Serviceability of Trucks with Active Aero

Active aerodynamics are a revolutionary technology that enables vehicles to dynamically adjust their interaction with the surrounding air. Toyota has recently obtained a patent for an innovative system designed to enhance the effectiveness of these active aero systems.

One of the challenges faced by automakers when implementing active aero technologies is the need to accommodate important vehicle components, such as the engine oil pan. To ensure optimal performance, manufacturers often have to modify the shape of the movable elements to navigate around these critical areas. Unfortunately, this can compromise the overall effectiveness of the active aero system.

Discover 8 Innovative Smart Home Devices That Will Transform Your Life

For some, mowing the lawn is a pleasant weekend activity, while for others, it feels like a never-ending chore. If you fall into the latter category, Husqvarna’s Automower is here to revolutionize your lawn maintenance. This smart device takes care of almost everything for you – simply set it up and let it do the work. Of course, you’ll need to install a boundary wire around your yard to ensure the mower stays within the designated area and doesn’t wander off to your neighbor’s property. Once the setup is complete, operating the Automower is a breeze.

Thanks to the Automower Connect app, you can keep track of your mower’s progress, locate its exact position, and monitor its mowing cycle. Additionally, you can also check its status using voice commands through Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa. To provide peace of mind, the Automower features an alarm system and PIN code locking, deterring potential thieves. While the retail price is $2,499.99 on Amazon, it may occasionally be discounted to $1,999.99.

Watch Two Short Riders Demonstrate Exceptional Mental Math Skills in Short Riding

If you frequent motorcycle sites, you might come across advice for short riders from time to time. Being a short rider encompasses a range of characteristics that may or may not be related to a rider’s height. For example, a 5’3″ rider with a 31-inch inseam will have a different experience compared to a 5’3″ rider with a 27-inch inseam (which happens to be me). The four-inch difference in leg length makes a significant impact when figuring out how to handle a bike for short riders. Other factors like arm length, hand size, and torso length also play a role.

These characteristics, although not talked about as frequently, can greatly affect how a bike fits a short rider. While longer legs make it easier to reach the ground, a longer torso may help with reaching the handlebars. Each of us has our own strengths and challenges to consider in the riding experience.

In a video from Bennetts BikeSocial, tall motorcycle journalist Michael Mann interviews Adam Child, a 5’6-and-¼” moto journalist, and Leonie, an experienced short rider standing at 5’3.5″. Michael, being over six feet tall, allows the two shorter riders to guide the conversation since he doesn’t face the same challenges.

Adam and Leonie provide incredibly useful advice for short riders. Seat height is one factor, but it’s not the only one. Seat width, suspension sag and preload adjustment, low center of gravity, luggage options, and control accessibility are all important considerations for short riders. They also discuss the mental calculations required for short riders, such as assessing the ground conditions when coming to a stop and evaluating road camber and foot placement. These calculations can vary depending on inseam length.

One conclusion reached in the video is that it’s now easier to find bikes that fit a wider variety of rider heights in 2023. However, there is still room for improvement. OEMs offering a range of seat height options is great, but it would be even better if short riders could try out bikes with low saddles in showrooms. Demo rides with low seat height bikes are crucial in convincing short riders that they belong on a bike and can have as much fun as their taller counterparts.

Another important point raised is the role of a rider’s confidence. By making low seat options readily available rather than special orders, more riders will be able to envision themselves on a particular bike. This is especially important for riders who learn through experience.

Watch the Fascinating Restoration of a Honda VFR400R’s Frame and Swingarm

Restoring classic motorcycles requires a great deal of time, effort, and expertise. Depending on the condition of the bike, a complete restoration can take months, or even years. Most people who restore bikes also juggle other responsibilities and may be working on multiple projects simultaneously.

RRC Restoration recently embarked on a restoration project involving a Honda VFR400 NC30. In a previous video, shared by Janaki in July, the bike was shown in its unrestored state. Now, RRC Restoration has posted an update on the project, revealing significant progress. The bike has been completely disassembled, leaving only the bare frame, subframe, and swingarm. The focus is now on restoring these essential components.

The video begins with the removal of the swingarm and wheel bearings. The VFR400 features a single-sided swingarm, which houses the rear wheel bearings. RRC Restoration employed a unique makeshift vapor blasting method to clean and restore the swingarm and frame. Although he has a vapor blaster in his workshop, it is too small to accommodate these large parts. Instead, he used glass beads, a siphon, and a pressure washer to eliminate all the grime and corrosion.

Once the swingarm and frame are completely clean, RRC Restoration proceeds to polish the parts and replicate the brushed aluminum finish. He achieves this by lightly scuffing the surface with a red Scotch-Brite pad, ensuring to move in one fluid motion and maintain a consistent direction. The parts are then painted with a matte ceramic clear coat to preserve their new appearance for an extended period.

In the following steps, RRC Restoration meticulously cleans and resprays the subframe. While waiting for the subframe to cure, he restores all the hardware by replating the bolts, screws, and fasteners. With all the components looking brand new, the swingarm is reassembled. A fresh set of wheel bearings, a new rear sprocket, and a chain guide are installed. The video concludes with an extremely satisfying before-and-after montage.

It is clear that there is still much work to be done before the bike reaches showroom quality. Nonetheless, the level of detail shown in RRC Restoration’s video sets high expectations for the upcoming restoration videos documenting this project. Motorcycle enthusiasts eagerly anticipate seeing the progress of this meticulous restoration.

Take A Look At This 1995 Honda Gold Wing Anniversary Edition Enclosed Trike

Motorized tricycles, also known as trikes, are a common sight in many places. However, it’s not every day that you come across a trike that is almost like a three-wheeled car. Introducing the 1995 Honda Gold Wing SE 20th Anniversary Edition with an enclosed roof. This trike features side panels with window-shaped portholes, allowing the pillion to enjoy the view. Additionally, there’s an opening at the rear of the roof-and-side surround to let in a cool breeze. The trike is finished in a deep purple color with chrome accents, electric blue pinstriping, and plush gray seats for both the rider and passenger.

This trike has a unique design reminiscent of Cinderella’s pumpkin coach, but with some distinctions. Firstly, it’s a Gold Wing instead of a pumpkin, and there are no mice turned horses. Additionally, its round and purple appearance resembles an Indian eggplant rather than a pumpkin. Moving on to its features, the trike boasts a stunned eagle fender ornament, large golden 20th Anniversary badges, a CB radio, aftermarket plush seats, and two spacious cupholders. The trike is set to be auctioned at Mecum Harrisburg in Pennsylvania, with an estimated price range of $20,000 to $25,000.
