2024 DAKAR RALLY, STAGE 6B: BRABEC IN FRONT!

Today was the second half of the 48-hour Chrono stage within the 2024 Dakar Rally. Yesterday, riders have been to trip so far as they might into the Saudi Empty Quarter earlier than 4:00 p.m. This morning, they resumed racing. For the 12 riders up entrance, it meant a really lengthy day adopted by a considerably shorter day. Riders in the course of the pack had two extra equally divided days of driving. The rider who mastered each segments greatest was Adrien Van Beveren. He had the most effective time yesterday and held on to his benefit over his Honda teammate Ricky Brabec. Second place, nonetheless, was adequate for Brabec to imagine the crown of general chief. He surpassed Hero’s Ross Branch and now holds a bonus of lower than a minute. Many riders had hassle with poor gasoline vary, and reported that they needed to discover a stability between gasoline conservation and velocity within the deep sand.

Sadly, Mason Klein lastly misplaced his battle with persistent mechanical points. He survived yesterday’s lengthy trek solely to cease immediately with undisclosed motor issues. That follows yesterday’s withdrawal of Skyler Howes. Joan Barreda additionally dropped out. Jacob Arguebright, however, had his greatest stage of the rally to this point. He discovered the sand to his liking and was capable of help his DUUST teammate Konrad Dabrowski on the course.

Ricky Brabec

Ricky Brabec : “There was a lot of time in the dunes but I didn’t mind that as the challenge of going for many hours and kilometers made it a lot of fun. Camping with the boys was a blast, we had a really good time last night although we didn’t get much sleep. The stage was 100% dunes but it was really cool and I hope they do something like this again. Rocks and open deserts are a bit better for me and with the dunes I really pushed but I also played it safe towards the end as I didn’t want to open stage seven. I’m in a good place going into next week, so let’s see what happens in the next six days.”

Skyler Howes: “I’m gutted to have to exit the rally early. After a less than ideal start I was looking forward to the chrono stage and the second week to claw back the time that I lost in the first couple of days. The issue that took me out is nobody’s fault, not mine, mechanics or the team. When you’re pushing at the maximum level for this many days, luck has a big part to play and yesterday I drew the short stick. Sometimes this happens in racing and all we can do is learn from it. Now I’m looking forward to the year ahead and focusing on being better. Failure and adversity can be the best teacher, one I’m familiar with.”

Jacob Argubright

Jacob Argubright: “Been a long 3 days In the empty quarter! I had to start dead last on stage 5 because of not starting stage 4 which turned out to be a blessing because I was able to help my Duust Co teammate @konrad_dabrowski537 with some electrical problems on his bike and from there we limped it in till pretty much dark in so he could continue the race. After such a slow day I started last yet again with Konrad on stage 6 called the Chrono stage that took place over 2 days of pure dunes. I rode my ass off surfing dunes passing I think around 100 people, running out of gas twice on the first day and once today and still had my best stage finish of P14. Really stoked considering I don’t think I ride that well the dunes but I definitely felt great both days. Ready for a nice rest day and back at it for the second half!”

There are a number of causes to seek out the Dakar Rally and rally raids usually fascinating. While that spirit is a reasonably frequent factor to see within the bivouac and on the levels, one thing that is much less frequent is what Kove Moto head Zhang Xue has been sharing with the world. 2024 DAKAR RALLY, STAGE 4

Stage 4 was the second half of the marathon after the riders of the Dakar rally camped within the desert in a single day away from their groups. It was additionally the shortest day of the rally up to now and it went effectively once more for the Monster Energy HRC Honda Team. Nacho Cornejo took his second stage win whereas his teammate Ricky Brabec was second. That put Cornejo within the general lead forward of Hero’s Ross Branch with Brabec in third, 5 minutes from the lead. It’s one other quarter-hour again to fourth place Kevin Benevidez.

Mason Klein

For Mason Klein it was one other day the place he was doing effectively to only get to the end together with his ailing Kove. It might be one other motor and one other penalty tonight, however Mason is creating an enormous fan base in China. One Chinese fan commented on Mason’s Instagram: “When you stopped, Chinese Kove users and Dakar fans were all watching your GPS. Yesterday, everyone stayed up until 2am Beijing time until you finished the race before going to bed. Yesterday, your feat will be recorded in the history of China’s motorcycle development. In two days, your fan base in China has exceeded everyone’s. I hope you can consider coming to China after completing the race smoothly. People would really like to travel to China!!!”

Jacob Argubright couldn’t get to the tip of the Marathon stage, however he might be allowed to proceed with huge penalties. “I’m officially out of my second Dakar rally with a mechanical issue. I did everything I could but I couldn’t even move the bike if I wanted to. No one to blame here, just part of the testing game. If all goes well we will fix the bike and I’ll be back racing tomorrow on stage 5, I just won’t be considered a finisher from this point forward.”

Ricky Brabec

Ricky Brabec: “Stage four was good, it was the shortest one yet so I was happy to have a shorter day. We’re at the bivouac an hour earlier than we have been, so that’s also nice and it gives the mechanics some more time to work on the bikes. I was second on the road which definitely wasn’t easy as navigation is really tricky this year. It can catch you off guard quickly so if you’re not on your toes from sunrise to sunset then it really can throw you.
Tomorrow’s stage five is a sand dune day, it’s a short one but it’ll be long day in the saddle with the liaison. It’s going to be an interesting next three days, everyone in the team is doing a great job and I’m looking forward to getting to the end of this rally.”

Skyler Howes: “I’m becoming more and more confident with the bike, we’ve made a few little changes to the suspension and to some other positive adjustments. I had a small mechanical issue which slowed me down and I also had to search for a hidden waypoint which lost me some time. The pace and riding was good and it was overall another positive day. I do prefer the previous stages as there’s more stones, rocky canyons and technical navigation, once you get into the dunes it’s almost like a motocross race, you push really hard and you just follow the compass.”

Ricky Brabec: “It’s only day two and we have eleven days left, it’s a long rally but I’m happy to be here and to get to ride in a group with my teammates. If you can ride with other people it all makes it fun. It’s always difficult to open the road especially when the stage is over 460 km long, but I’m happy to be here, so let’s keep the good vibes rolling and make it to the finish line.”

Skyler Howes

Skyler Howes: “It was a better result than yesterday but I’m still falling short of what I expect out of myself. I was pushing hard on the tracks and when you do this you either have to focus on the terrain or on the road book and to do both at a super high speed is difficult to do. I was managing and doing a pretty good job but twice I made some mistakes which was totally my fault. The stage itself was really fun as we had more rocks out there which I enjoyed. I feel like I rode better through them and I feel fresher than I did yesterday, so all in all it was a good day.”

Jacob Argubright

Jacob Argubright: “My seat came off the first 10km of the stage today so had to do 450km without it. I’m not going to be a sore ass about it but it was a long day in and without a saddle. Not totally sure what happened but it is a test bike and sh*t happens, so I guess I’m testing it well. Other than that it was an okay day, had some navigation troubles here and there but I made it. Lost my time card as well so received a time penalty. P26 on the day and P21 in the general standings. Can’t wait to grab a seat and enjoy the show tomorrow.”

Ricky Brabec: You couldn’t even rely the quantity of rocks on the market and while you’re making an attempt to dodge them and browse your notes it’s robust. You don’t wish to crash on the rocks, you don’t wish to miss a word so it’s discovering that stability. Definitely the navigation was onerous at the moment and so was the driving. The plan for tomorrow is simply to make it to the following bivouac with out making any massive errors.

Jacob Argubright

Jacob Argubright: Tough stage bodily with so many rocks and navigation challenges. I’ve by no means seen so many rocks in a rally stage and I liked it. Felt nice all day, couple of navigation classes discovered and misplaced time however I’m completely satisfied. The Red bike is fairly kick ass to say the least. I’m not going to say I’m drained however I’m prepared for a nap. P18 on the day and P18 within the normal so already off to a greater begin than final yr.

Skyler Howes. Photo: Monster Energy HRC

Skyler Howes: Major points this morning dropping a ton of time, combined with driving a bit of too conservatively set me method again at the moment. Ricky and Nacho caught as much as me and I used to be in a position to latch on to their tempo and trip with them however nonetheless not a great stage for me. It was a gnarly, filled with countless lava rock and technical nav, however that doesn’t cease the boys from juicing it on the market. An extended strategy to go nonetheless, gonna be onerous to chip away at this misplaced time however I’ll give it my all.

2024 DAKAR PROLOGUE

The 2024 Dakar Rally bought underway Friday with a brief 27-km prologue that noticed Honda supported Tosha Schareina on high. There is usually a cat and mouse sport to begin the occasion, with riders hesitant to complete in entrance however unwilling to lose an excessive amount of time. This 12 months the organizers threw in some tough sections that value some riders time–amongst them Skyler Howes. With a forty fourth positioned end 5’10’’ behind his teammate Schareina, Howes occupies the final place within the Rally GP class. As a end result, the official HRC rider will probably need to open the best way tomorrow, which is an unenviable process for a stage introduced as lengthy, tough and complex to experience as a lone ranger. At least he will probably be very more likely to decide up the bonus factors initially of the particular, although this will probably be of scant comfort to him, leaving him little alternative however to go for broke. Before the race even began, Mason Klein was already dealing with main difficulties. His Kove race bike was caught in customs in Dubai till the final second. He rushed it although tech inspection after Kove mechanics did an all-night drive by means of the desert.

Mason Klein was minutes away from lacking the beginning of this 12 months’s Dakar Rally.
Ricky Brabec cruised to a secure thirteenth within the Prologue

Ricky Brabec: It’s simply the prologue however I’m completely happy to get by means of that and begin the rally. We’ll see how everybody chooses their place for tomorrow and hopefully we’ll begin in a great spot. The prologue wasn’t technical, nevertheless it wasn’t simple, the navigation was a little bit bit tough, trickier than you’d assume going by means of all these canyons. It’s solely the prologue so ending a minute and 20 seconds out will not be a giant deal. P13

Skyler Howes fell and broken his highway e book within the Prologue.

Skyler Howes: This prologue was actually not a very good begin for me, the group likes to play a bit with some issues they usually had some sticks that we have been speculated to undergo. There have been so many strains going by means of every means all through the open desert that it was arduous to see these sticks, I reduce throughout to undergo them, hit a giant camel grass that was clearly off monitor and had a extremely large crash, however fortunately I used to be OK. I broken the bike, misplaced fairly a little bit of time and it was arduous to experience afterwards as I’d additionally broken the highway e book so I needed to depend on following the tracks.
Then in a while within the stage there was a tough word, clearly I had no highway e book to confirm so I used to be roughly going round in circles simply making an attempt to determine it out. Finally I validated the best way level and was capable of proceed on however I misplaced about 5 minutes as we speak which is tremendous irritating and an annoying approach to begin the race like this. P42

Tosha Schareina completed on high within the Prologue, however received’t have to fret about opening the course tomorrow. Top riders are allowed to decide on their begin place.
