In “Sled Dogs,” audiences are introduced to the all-new 2024 Lexus GX as it effortlessly travels down the road on snow-covered terrain. A woman sits confidently behind the wheel, while a Siberian Husky secured in the second-row stares ahead, seemingly barking orders. Grateful to be reunited, they drive off warm and cozy in the GX.

Overnight Lexus” opens in a boy’s bedroom as his father sits bedside, reading him a familiar tale about magic beans that grow overnight. Upon seeing his son is asleep, Dad turns off the light and exits the room. As the door closes, the boy sneaks out to the family’s front yard to pack a toy Lexus under the snow in hopes the story is true. The next morning, the boy wakes excited to find a brand-new, full-size 2024 Lexus TX wrapped in a giant red bow, calling for Dad and Mom in wonderment at the surprise.

In addition to the two spots, Lexus also brings back its popular 2022 “December to Remember” commercial, “Time Machine,” featuring a heartwarming holiday family reunion storyline.

2023 DUBYA WORLD VET CHAMPIONSHIP

The 39th Annual Dubya Vet World Championship held at Glen Helen Raceway drew a massive crowd over the weekend. This event has become Glen Helen’s largest and attracts both casual fans and legendary riders. Among the iconic riders present were Mike Brown, Jeremy McGrath, Doug Dubach, and Kurt Nicoll. However, the standout performer of the weekend was Austrian rider Günter Schmidinger, who left everyone struggling to pronounce his name. Schmidinger, who currently works for KTM’s testing department, has previous experience in international competitions, having participated in the World Vet and USGP events.

Austrian Günter Schmidinger was the big winner in the 30+ pro class.

Ryan Morais came close to winning the 30+ Pro class.

In the first 30+ Pro race, Schmidinger took an early lead and comfortably secured the win. Second place was hotly contested between Giacomo Redoni, the 2018 WORCS champion, and Ryan Morais. The race ended with Redoni narrowly holding onto second, despite Morais challenging him at the finish line. Morais, mistakenly thinking he was in the lead, approached the second moto with that mindset. Eventually, Schmidinger worked his way up to second place, but Morais held a significant lead and secured first place overall. Official timing and scoring initially placed Morais in second, with Schmidinger in first, but a discrepancy with the transponder pickup shifted their positions. Redondi finished with a 2-4 score, while Canadian Mitch Cooke achieved a 5-3 score.

Mike Brown won the 50+ Pro and the Pasha 50+ 125 race.

Jeremy McGrath came second in the 50+ Pro class.

Doug Dubach was third in the Pasha 50+ 125 and first in the 60+ Expert class.

Kurt Nicoll finished fourth in the 50+ 125 class.

The 50+ Pasha 125 class was particularly competitive, featuring well-known riders such as Mike Brown, Jeremy McGrath, Doug Dubach, Kurt Nicoll, and Ty Davis. Among them, Mike Brown stood out as the most experienced rider. However, the race turned out to be much closer than expected. McGrath showed strength in starts, while Dubach excelled in finishes. Ultimately, the final standings were Brown, McGrath, Dubach, Nicoll, Ty Davis, and ISDE legend Brian Storrie. Brown also participated in the 30+ Pasha 125 race, finishing fourth behind Morais, Redondi, and Dominic Desimone.

Gary Jones has a full set of Dubya World Vet trophies.

In the 50+ Pro class, Brown, McGrath, and Nicoll competed once again, with Brown securing an easy victory. Dubach made his debut in the 60+ Expert class and claimed a straightforward win over Canadian Pete DeGraff. In the 40+ Pro class, Morais and Canadian Mitch Cooke traded moto wins, but Morais emerged as the winner of the second race. Kris Keefer and Dirt Bike Managing Editor Mark Tilley finished third and fourth, respectively.

Giacomo Redondi and Mitch Cooke competed in the 30+ Pro class and Cup of Nations.

The Cup of Nations is a unique competition created by Glen Helen, where national teams consist of three riders from different age groups. Canada #1 emerged as the champions, with Julian Cerney winning the 50+ class, Shane Cuthberson placing fifth in the 40+ class, and Cooke taking first in the 30+ class. Italy #1 finished in second place, comprising of Simone Girolami, Marcello Disetti, and Redondi. For full results, visit www.glenhelen.com.

Yuri Albert and Vadim Zakharov: Volkswagen presents exhibition of the Goslar Kaiserring awardees

Volkswagen Group is proudly supporting the annual Kaiserring exhibition in Goslar, featuring influential works from the 2023 Kaiserring awardees, Yuri Albert and Vadim Zakharov. This collaboration highlights Volkswagen’s role as a partner of culture and the arts in the region.

The exhibition, developed by the Mönchehaus Museum in Goslar with the support of the Volkswagen Group, showcases the creative work of Russian-born Yuri Albert and Tajikistan-born Vadim Zakharov. Opening on October 7, 2023, visitors will have the opportunity to see paintings, photos, objects, and installations that have had a significant impact on the evolution of conceptual art. This year, the international Kaiserring jury awarded the Kaiserring to both artists, marking the first time the art prize has been given to two individuals.

Yuri Albert and Vadim Zakharov began their creative careers in the 1970s during a time when the Soviet Union was dominated by communism, and official art work was not accessible. Their work questioned the role of art in society and explored the relationship between art and real life through humor and provocative approaches. Despite the absence of support from the official Soviet art world, Albert and Zakharov independently presented their work along with critical reflections. In the 1990s, both artists moved to Western Europe, enriching their portfolios with new concepts. Yuri Albert began focusing on the nature and necessity of art, while Vadim Zakharov intensified his exploration of politics and social mechanisms. Until 2014, they regularly exhibited their work in Moscow, establishing themselves as key artists of Moscow conceptualism. Today, Albert and Zakharov live in Cologne and Berlin, respectively, and present their works in exhibitions worldwide.

Dr. Bettina Ruhrberg, Director of Mönchehaus Museum Goslar, expressed her appreciation for Volkswagen’s ongoing support as a partner of the Kaiserring exhibitions, which allows them to honor and showcase the awardees’ work through dedicated presentations. Benita von Maltzahn, Director Cultural Engagement Volkswagen Group, also emphasized the significance of supporting exhibitions that feature the work of Kaiserring awardees, providing the people in the region with opportunities to discover highly inspirational creative works.

The Goslar Kaiserring is recognized as one of the most prestigious prizes for contemporary artists worldwide. Since 1975, the city of Goslar has awarded this non-monetary prize in consultation with an international jury. Previous recipients of the Kaiserring include Olafur Eliasson, Isa Genzken, Cindy Sherman, and Sigmar Polke. The collaboration with the Mönchehaus Museum is an integral part of Volkswagen’s commitment to supporting culture and the arts in its regional facilities and beyond. Together with its partners, the Volkswagen Group aims to create open platforms for a diverse range of artists, ensuring that a broad audience has the opportunity to engage with these works of art. These encounters foster the exchange of ideas and creative approaches, which are vital resources for promoting mutual understanding and progress within society.

Yuri Albert, born in Moscow in 1959, is an artist, curator, and recipient of the Kandinsky Prize in 2011. He currently resides and works in Cologne and is considered a key artist of Moscow conceptualism. Vadim Zakharov, born in Dushanbe in 1959, is an artist, author, and archivist of Moscow Conceptual art. He currently resides and works in Berlin, where he has been running his art project “Freehome – Artist to Artist” since 2016.
