Tata Motors has revealed the details of the Pure variant of the facelifted Tata Safari SUV. This variant comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital driver’s display. The updated Safari now has a revised variant lineup including Smart, Pure, Adventure, and Accomplished.

The Pure variant of the Safari facelift features a blacked-out Parametric grille with a large air dam and silver skid plate. It gets connected LED DRLs above the grille and LED projector headlights. However, fog lamps are not offered with this variant.

On the side profile, the Pure variant gets blacked-out ORVMs, body-colored door handles, and a ‘Safari’ moniker on the front doors. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, while the Adventure variant, which is positioned above the Pure variant, comes with 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

At the rear, the Pure variant gets connected LED taillamps and a shark fin antenna. It also has a rear silver skid plate. However, it misses out on a rear defogger.

Inside the cabin, the Pure variant comes with a dual-tone (black and grey) layered dashboard design and grey fabric seat upholstery. It features a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display, a 6-speaker audio system, and steering-mounted audio controls.

The Pure variant also offers second and third-row AC vents, Type-A and Type-C charging ports, an additional 45W Type-C charger at the front, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, Boss mode, and all four power windows. However, it does not have an electronic parking brake.

In terms of safety, the Safari facelift comes with six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC) with hill hold, rear parking camera and sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system, 3-point seatbelts with reminders, all-wheel disc brakes, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.

The Safari facelift is powered by a 2.0-liter diesel engine that produces 170PS and 350Nm of torque. It is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. However, the Pure variant is only equipped with the manual gearbox.

The 2023 Tata Safari is expected to be priced from Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom) and will compete with the Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector Plus, and Hyundai Alcazar.

Citroen C3 Aircross EV Could Become The Most Affordable 3-Row Electric SUV In India

Not just the most affordable one, but the C3 Aircross EV could also become the first mass-market 3-row EV in the country

The electric vehicle market in India is expected to see the introduction of various SUV-shaped EVs in the next few years. While affordable electric hatchbacks and SUVs are already available, there is currently no budget-friendly 3-row EV option. The only 3-row electric vehicle available in the market is the Mercedes Benz EQB, which is priced above Rs 75 lakh. However, Citroen is planning to fill this gap with an affordable 3-row EV.

Citroen’s Future Plan

Citroen C3 Aircross

Citroen is set to launch the C3 Aircross compact SUV in September, which will be its second launch this year following the eC3. The automaker has also confirmed that an electric version of the C3 Aircross is in the pipeline.

Citroen’s plan is to launch a new model every year, and the C3 Aircross EV is expected to be part of this strategy. Following the pattern of the C3 hatchback and eC3, we can anticipate the C3 Aircross EV to go on sale in the first half of 2024.

Expectations From The eC3 Aircross

The C3 Aircross is an extended and modified version of the C3 hatchback, sharing the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. However, the electric 3-row SUV is likely to feature a larger battery pack than the eC3, providing a competitive range of around 400 kilometres. The styling of the C3 Aircross EV is expected to be similar to its non-electric counterpart.

Price Check

Citroen C3 Aircross Third Row

Citroen is known for its aggressive pricing strategy for localized offerings. The C3, for example, is priced competitively compared to hatchbacks from a lower segment. While the prices of the C3 Aircross are yet to be revealed, it is estimated to start from around Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom). Based on this, the electric variant of the C3 Aircross could be priced between Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), similar to other subcompact electric SUVs like the Tata Nexon EV Max and Mahindra XUV400.

Other Expected Electric Three-Row Models

Mahindra XUV700 EV

The only other confirmed three-row electric car in India is the XUV.e8 (XUV700 EV), scheduled to debut in December 2024. However, it is expected to have a higher price tag of around Rs 35 lakh. Kia is also working on an electric vehicle for the Indian market, which may include an electric Carens. Additionally, an electric Safari based on the Harrier EV could be in development. These models are expected to be priced above Rs 20 lakh and are likely to be launched in 2025 or later.

More details about the C3 Aircross EV will be revealed by the end of this year. With the right pricing, it has the potential to be an attractive option for joint families looking to transition to electric vehicles without breaking the bank.
