This Pair Of Riders Is Circling The Globe To Set A New World Record

# This Pair Of Riders Is Circling The Globe To Set A New World Record

If you have the opportunity to do it, travel can be amazing. Most of us know this, although of course life gets in the way for many of us. Assuming you’re able to do it, though, there’s something extra special about being able to travel with someone else.

There are caveats here, of course. The most important thing if you’re traveling in a pair is that you both have to have similar travel styles. If one person just wants to get between points A and B as fast as possible, and the other wants the chance to stop and see cool stuff that pops up along the way, then things aren’t going to end well.

However, if you overcome that hurdle, and you’re able to enjoy spending nearly every moment of every day together, then you might just be Lavi and Ollie. This couple has been circumnavigating the globe for the past 387 days as of this video on a [Suzuki V-Strom 1050XT](https://www.rideapart.com/news/505100/suzuki-vstrom-1050-xt-launch-uk/). Together, they’re aiming to set a [Guinness World Record](https://www.rideapart.com/news/671686/acerbis-honda-monkey-record-attempt/) as the youngest pair to circumnavigate the globe by motorcycle riding two-up.

They’re currently 31 and 34 years old, and it’s a record that doesn’t exist yet—so they’ll be the first ones setting it. When they first set out to complete their mission, they gave themselves two years to complete it. Both the global pandemic situation at the beginning—as well as evolving geopolitical complications—made their planning much trickier. Still, they spent the first three months in Europe and Northern Africa before heading to the southern tip of South America.

Since then, they’ve ridden through South America, Central America, and have just recently made it into North America. In this video, they’re riding from the south to the north of the Baja California peninsula in Mexico, and as usual, they’re having a lovely time. Camping is good, tacos are good, camp coffee is good, and the weather is mostly quite agreeable (with the exception of some serious wind toward the end of the day).

The views are stunning, and at their stop in Bahía Concepción, they’re even able to see dolphins! When they stop to camp for the night near an abandoned house that’s popular with the overlanding community, they’re surrounded by some impressively tall cacti.

If you’re looking for a reminder that beauty is all around us if we can only ride out to see it, then you probably want to check out Lavi and Ollie’s adventures.

The Trade Wind is equipped with three lithium Battle Born batteries, each offering 270-amp-hours. This totals to an impressive 810 amp hours of battery capacity. On the roof, there are 600 watts of solar panels, allowing for efficient recharging of the batteries. The cabin includes a monitoring system that enables users to keep track of the solar setup’s output.

For added convenience, the Trade Wind features a 3,000-watt inverter/charger. This powerful device allows for simultaneous use of the microwave and 15,000 BTU air conditioner. Additionally, there is a SmartPlug 30-amp shore power hookup, which ensures the batteries can be conveniently recharged.

Living Vehicle HD24 Travel Trailer: Features a Washer and Dryer, Starting at $299,995

Living Vehicle is known for producing top-of-the-line travel trailers, and their latest addition is the HD24, a 24-foot model. Taking inspiration from the larger HD30 model, the HD24 offers the same luxurious amenities but in a more compact size. Prices for this model start at $299,995.

While the exterior design may appear boxy, there is an added convenience of a power-folding porch on one side. This allows occupants to enjoy delicious meals in the open air. Furthermore, the roof includes a cluster of solar panels that can store up to 72 kilowatt hours of energy. These panels are versatile and can be unfolded to provide shade like an awning.

Winnebago Access: The Brand’s Cheapest Travel Trailer

Winnebago, known for its luxurious camper vans and motorhomes, is now venturing into the lower-priced travel trailer market. Introducing the new Access, a budget-friendly option starting at $29,600. This model offers various lengths and layouts, accommodating up to eight people. When it hits the market in November 2023, it will become the most affordable trailer in Winnebago’s lineup.

So, what do you get for this price? Standard features include electric tongue and stabilization jacks, water tank pad heaters, a two-inch accessory receiver hitch, built-in WiFi, an enclosed underside with heating for pipes and wires, and an innovative aero-shaped front. Depending on the layout, there is a queen-size bed located either at the front or rear, along with a sofa and a dinette area that converts into a bed.

While specific details regarding options and upgrades are not yet available, Winnebago’s website showcases four floorplans. Two of them, the 25ML and 30BH, feature large slideouts on the left side, providing additional room for theater seating. The 28FK model also offers theater seating, but with a smaller slideout. The fourth model, the 26BH, omits slideouts in favor of an exterior kitchen equipped with a pull-out griddle, drawers, and a refrigerator. The 26BH and 30BH also include bunk beds. All layouts feature a full bathroom, a spacious dinette, and a kitchen with a three-burner stove.

While a comprehensive list of options is yet to be revealed, Winnebago has highlighted a few upgrades for the Access line. These include porcelain toilets, LED lights for the interior and exterior, and rectangular skylights for natural light. Thicker sidewalls are offered as an upgrade to enhance the trailer’s strength.

The Access is significantly more affordable than Winnebago’s other offerings, such as the Winnebago Hike 100 overlanding trailer, which starts at $46,135. The Access could appeal to new buyers looking for a cost-effective option.

Winnebago plans to announce full pricing closer to the Access’ on-sale date in November. However, interested individuals can catch a glimpse of the Access in September at the Hershey RV Show in Pennsylvania.

THE WEEKLY FEED: KTM 300XC-W TBI TESTING • TKO HARD ENDURO VID • NEW PRODUCT SPECIAL

Gary Semic’s using every iota of travel on his works Kawasaki at the 1975 Saddleback Trans-Am. Thanks Mark Kiel for the brilliant photo!

By Ryan Koch

We have been spending time on the new 2024 KTM 300XC-W and are learning where this machine shines and where it is…different. With the past generation 300 we knew our way around the machine inside and out and how to tailor it to our liking. The new bike is all new and will take time to figure out what we want to change and how. Here’s what we have found so far.

Pretty much brand new through the chassis and engine, the 300XC-W TBI has a ridiculously smooth powerband, and vastly improved suspension.

The new Throttle Body Injection engine is completely different with how this machine makes power over the TPI model. This 300 XC-W TBI has an even smoother and more linear power output and has a very non-aggressive nature. Compared to the XC model, which is a pure fire breather, the XC-W is almost docile feeling almost like a playful trail bike. Is that a bad thing? Absolutely not! The new 300 will lug and make traction where the XC machine snarls hard and spins. The power is predictable and pumps out great bottom end torque. For extreme enduro and technical trail this is superb. After breaking in our machine, we can feel the engine starting to wake up and pull harder once she gets on the pipe. With the electronic power valve, the transfer from the bottom end power all the way to peak pull is extremely smooth and one of the highest quality traits of the new bike. We’re struggling with the ‘new’ gearing, it’s 13/45 and second and third are too tall. We will be trying sprockets to get the bike more up our alley.

For the technical rider the 300 XC-W makes perfect power, the clutch is superb, the ergos slim and the brakes are excellent.

The new suspension and chassis feel superb. We love how much more ‘hold up’ the fork has, yet still super plush. The shock is also very impressive with total tools free adjustability. The two mate well together and the front and rear end feel balanced where in years past this was not the case. Gone are the adjustable steering stops, a they are now a welded in steering stop with a sufficient turning radius.

On the trail you’ll rip out a huge smile! Our one gripe is gearing, it’s tall (13-45) and we plan on going to a 48-tooth rear sprocket to close up the gaps in second and third gear.

Some of the miscellaneous bits this year that are vastly improved are the handguards. For a flag style shield, it’s excellent. The airbox has much more room and visibility to ensure proper filter sealing but does use a new filter so you can’t use your old filters. Up front the LED headlight is a huge plus over the candlestick of the past models. The stock skid plate is improved providing much more frame protection on the sides. As always, we love how quiet the machine comes but we need a spark arrestor for much of our riding. We love that KTM kept the oil injection on the XC-W models. For long rides it’s nice to refuel easily and the oil injection keeps the powervalve and exhaust tract much cleaner since there is much less unburnt oil resulting in carbon buildup.

In today’s world of fuel injection and in-tank fuel pumps, having a fuel pressure gauge and tester is the best way to diagnose mechanical issues. The first thing to test when diagnosing poor running conditions is the fuel delivery. Is there enough Fuel flowing, and at what pressure? The Nihilo Fuel Pressure Tester makes easy work of this process by using OEM quick connectors, simply disconnect the fuel line and insert the tester in line, you will immediately be able to determine if fuel pressure is adequate or if there is an issue. Modern Fuel Injected motorcycles are known for fuel pump issues, and without this tool you could waste hours trying to figure out what is wrong with your bike. Price:$199.99

STAB HERE!

I’ve always loved this shot from a desert enduro in 1980. I was racing for Andy Kolbe on a Can-Am 400. She was a torque monger and was very tractable in tight, rough terrain. I had fit on a YZ250 front fork and wheel assembly. Back then I was a Scott boot guy, but in the next 2 years I had perfect ankles and needed 3 knee surgeries!

Mitsubishi Mirage To Be Discontinued In The US By 2025: Report

According to an Automotive News report, the Mitsubishi Mirage, known for its affordability and simplicity as a small hatchback and sedan, will be discontinued in the US. Insiders suggest that both the five-door Mirage and four-door Mirage G4 will be dropped from the lineup by the middle of the decade.

If this information proves to be true, the Mirage will join the growing list of cars that have been phased out in recent years as consumer demand leans towards crossovers and SUVs. Recent research from Cox Automotive indicates that last month, the Mirage was the only model priced below $20,000. The hatchback starts at $16,245, while the sedan begins at $17,245, before factoring in destination and handling fees.

Old Honda CR-V Is a Fantastic Overlanding SUV With Bed, Fridge, and More

People are discovering innovative and creative ways to travel the world. With advancements in technology and affordable used cars, we now have the opportunity to build our dream campers and hit the road with everything we need. While some may prefer luxurious motorhomes, others find joy in converting a Japanese crossover into a smart camper. One example is Nate and his dog Bobby, who don’t need a million-dollar RV to explore and be happy.

For his overlander, Nate uses a 2005 Honda CR-V as the base. The second-generation CR-V is a robust and durable SUV with a boxy shape that provides enough interior space to transform it into a cozy living area. Nate, a videographer and photographer, aimed to create a camper that can sleep one person and accommodate all his professional equipment, as well as a comfortable spot for his dog to sleep.

Despite its small size, it’s impressive that this CR-V camper includes a fridge. Nate has installed an electric cooling box below his bed, which is connected to the vehicle’s electric system. He has even added extra insulation to reduce energy consumption and keep his drinks cooler.

To keep such a small space organized, Nate has maximized storage with various drawers. He uses a plastic three-drawer storage organizer and many smaller plastic drawers hidden in different spaces under and around the bed. Bobby, his dog, has his own spot on the front passenger seat, where he sleeps and enjoys the view through the windshield. Finally, Nate has installed a small diesel heater with an integrated exhaust pipe underneath the vehicle.

If you’re considering a life on the road for the next few months with your old SUV, you may be wondering about necessary upgrades and potential difficulties. Nate can provide answers to almost all your questions in the video at the top of this page, where he reviews his 2005 CR-V camper.

Watch: Riding Through The Cariboo Chilcotin Coast In British Columbia

The Motorcycle Travel Channel has been on a road trip for almost two months, starting from Arizona and now reaching British Columbia. This is the 29th episode of the series, but the 21st episode is particularly interesting as it showcases a variety of things to see and do.

It took 21 episodes for the channel to reach British Columbia, and in the latest video, episode 29, the host, Sterling, is close to completing his trip. Currently in Arizona, the exploration of British Columbia is captivating and definitely worth watching.

Sterling’s videos on his BMW motorcycle are filled with breathtaking scenery, highlighting the natural beauty that Canada has to offer. While camping has been a major part of the trip, Sterling has also enjoyed the hospitality of inns and small hotels along the way.

Episode 21 of the series shows some unfortunate mishaps with Sterling’s equipment, such as a pannier and a monopod getting damaged due to an unplanned tip-over. However, these incidents have only emphasized the theme of “minimalism” that Sterling has embraced throughout his journey.

The video showcases stunning shots of the Fraser River and takes viewers on a journey through the Fishing Highway (Highway 24), which is connected to various lakes. Overall, the rest of the video provides a visual treat for adventure enthusiasts.

The remainder of the video continues to impress with stunning visuals. To catch up on the series, check out the latest upload from the Motorcycle Travel Channel on YouTube. Sterling is now back in Arizona, concluding an amazing trip that spanned thousands of miles, required hundreds of liters of fuel, and offered countless breathtaking sights.
