SEAT To Have New Role In The VW Group, Won’t Replace Existing Cars

[UPDATE] The original report from Autocar stated SEAT would stop making cars altogether at the end of the life cycle of current-generation models. We’ve revised the article to reflect the changes as SEAT is moving away from mainstream car-making to take up a new role.

The Volkswagen Group has announced that SEAT will change its approach. Speaking with Autocar at the 2023 IAA Mobility in Munich, VW Group’s CEO Thomas Schäfer revealed that there is a planned “different role” for the Martorell-based automaker.

What exactly will this new role be? With next-generation cars not in the picture, the future of SEAT is uncertain. According to Autocar, it could transition to becoming a mobility company, similar to Renault’s Mobilize. SEAT already has the MÓ lineup of electric scooters, indicating its potential in the mobility space. However, the current SEAT cars will continue to be produced for several more years, but there won’t be direct replacements with SEAT badges.

Porsche 911 Turbo S Drag Races Lucid Air Dream Performance In ICE Vs EV Fight

Carwow recently organized a drag race between the Porsche 911 Turbo S and the Lucid Air Dream Performance. Although these two cars are not typically compared, it was done to determine whether a traditional Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) can still compete with an Electric Vehicle (EV) in terms of performance.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S is a high-end variant of the flat-six coupe, while the Lucid Air Dream Performance is a dual-motor sedan. While the weight of a vehicle usually hampers its performance, the instantaneous response of an electric motor can offset the additional bulk, especially in a straight-line acceleration test with immense power.

In this race, the Lucid Air Dream Performance weighed a staggering 5,235 pounds, making it over 1,600 pounds heavier than the Porsche 911 Turbo S.

How To Stop Receiving Annoying Emails

Unsubscribing from newsletters and promotional emails is often an option provided within the email itself. Look for a clickable link at the end of the message, usually in smaller font, although it can be easy to miss. In some cases, the unsubscribe link may be cleverly hidden within a disclaimer paragraph, so be sure to read through the last few blocks of text and look for phrases like “click here to unsubscribe.” For visually-oriented emails, the unsubscribe option may be located in the footer, along with other website links.

When using a desktop computer, certain email service providers can detect if an email is sent through a mailing list or if it includes an unsubscribe link. If detected, the option will conveniently be brought to the top of the page, making it easy to click and stop receiving future promotional emails.

On Gmail, the “Unsubscribe” link is located next to the sender’s email address in an open message. Clicking on it may bring up an Unsubscribe pop-up on your screen, where you will need to verify the action. You may then be redirected to the sender’s website to unsubscribe or modify your email preferences.

In Microsoft Outlook, a message that says, “Getting too much email?” may appear at the top of marketing messages, along with the “Unsubscribe” link. If you use the built-in Mail app on your iPhone or iPad, an “Unsubscribe” link will be displayed at the top of messages detected to be from a mailing list.

Ora Funky Cat 2023 long-term test

Mileage: 3,450

Life with an Ora Funky Cat: Month 4

Just one small part can prevent the whole machine from working – 24 May

It’s frustrating. I can’t insert the 50kW CCS plug into the charging port of the Funky Cat. Let’s try the 43kW Type 2. Nope, same issue: it goes most of the way in but doesn’t click into place, and as a result, the charger can’t communicate with the car.

We’ve already spent half an hour on a beautiful Sunday afternoon trying to find a charger and get enough power for a half-lap of the M25. My patience is wearing thin. I won’t go into detail about my reaction here.

My partner, who is more level-headed than me and less emotionally invested in the situation, takes a calmer and more logical approach. While I hadn’t thought of it, she suggests searching online for a solution.

I assumed that because the Funky Cat is new and rare, I wouldn’t find much helpful information from experienced owners on forums. But luckily, someone else had recently encountered the same problem, and their situation was even more urgent than ours.

“Urgent help needed,” reads the post she found on an EV forum. “I’m on holiday in Cornwall and the pin inside the charging port seems to be locked, so I can’t fully connect any charger. It usually slides into the hole in the charging cable when pushed in. I need to go home on Wednesday and cannot charge!”

Reading this, the idea of me being a bit late for a family barbecue doesn’t seem so important anymore.

This is great information. With this knowledge, we point our phone torches into the port and see the tiny pin causing all the trouble.

One person on the forum had suggested disconnecting the 12V battery to reset the system and clear any issues, but I don’t want to do that because it would reset all the settings to their factory defaults, and I don’t have the necessary socket with me. It’s at home, which is now a 20-minute walk away.

Maserati Ghibli 334 Ultima, Levante V8 Ultima Debut As Ferrari V8 Finale

After a long-standing partnership, Ferrari will no longer supply V8 engines to Maserati after 2023. This marks the end of an era for the trident badge, as Maserati has been producing eight-cylinder cars since 1959 and has sold over 100,000 V8-powered vehicles in the last six and a half decades. As a final farewell to the V8 engine, Maserati has introduced the Ghibli 334 Ultima sedan and Levante V8 Ultima SUV.

The Ghibli 334 Ultima and Levante V8 Ultima made their debut at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed. These limited edition models share the same 3.8-liter twin-turbo engine, which is capable of producing 572 horsepower, just like the range-topping Trofeo models. Maserati will only produce 103 units of each model, and to commemorate the occasion, they have added special cosmetic enhancements both inside and outside the vehicles.
