  • Another comfort and convenience feature from luxury cars that is now available on Tata models for the first time is a powered tailgate. The Tata Harrier and Tata Safari facelifts also have gesture control functionality for the powered tailgate.
  • It’s available on the Fearless+ variant of the new Harrier, while the Tata Safari facelift offers it on the Accomplished trim.

Adaptive Cruise Control

  • In early 2023, Tata introduced advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) on the Red Dark edition of the Harrier and Safari. It was later added to the other top-spec variants of the SUVs.
  • While the ADAS suite included various driver-assistance tech, it did not have adaptive cruise control, which is now included in the facelifted models.
  • Adaptive cruise control automatically adjusts your car’s speed based on the car in front of you to maintain a safe distance and adhere to speed limits.
  • This safety feature is offered on the Adventure+A variant onwards of both models.

  • Tata now offers a multi-colour ambient lighting setup on the new Harrier and Safari facelifts, in addition to the previous blue and red ambient lighting options in other models.

  • It’s available from the second-to-top Adventure trim of the new Harrier and Safari facelifts.

Both “Adventure” SUVs do not get any mechanical revisions over their standard variants. That said, the Alcazar offers a broader range of engine and transmission choices, whereas the Safari is a diesel-only offering.

The Tata SUV employs a bigger 2-litre diesel engine that generates more power and torque than the Alcazar’s 1.5-litre units. This engine is available with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions. However, the Hyundai SUV is the only one with the option of a DCT with its turbo-petrol engine. Both these models are FWD only.

The Adventure editions from each carmaker offer unique cosmetic changes over the regular variants.

Inside, the special edition of the Alcazar features an all-black theme with sage green inserts, and the seat upholstery also showcases mountain illustrations. Furthermore, the Alcazar comes equipped with 3-D floor mats, metal pedals, and a dual dash camera setup as part of the Adventure edition.

The Safari’ Adventure Persona variant receives a similar exterior treatment, including a blacked-out grille with a piano black Safari mascot on the bonnet. It is also equipped with 18-inch charcoal black alloy wheels, black skid plates, and roof rails.

The Safari Adventure Persona features Earthy Brown (Khaki) upholstery, and it offers the option of a piano black interior. In contrast to the Hyundai Alcazar Adventure, the Tata Safari Adventure Persona is currently available in just two exterior shades: Tropical Mist and Orcus White. Also, theTata SUV doesn’t get elements like the metal pedals and dual dash camera setup.

Which One Is A Better Adventurer?

Considering the dimensions and extensive list of features, the Tata Safari Adventure Persona has more to offer than the Hyundai Alcazar Adventure. However, those advantages come at a premium, with the price difference between the top-spec Signature (O) diesel AT and the Safari’s XZA+ 6-seater trim at over Rs 2.5 lakh. Additionally, the Alcazar’s Adventure edition starts at Rs 19.04 lakh, which is more than Rs 3.5 lakh less than the starting price of the Adventure edition of the Tata Safari.

Hyundai Alcazar Adventure Edition

So, if you’re looking for a true-blue adventure vehicle, these urbanized SUVs are not ideal for much more than mild off-roading. To venture into the wild, you will need something with the right kind of machinery under the skin, and that’s where you should consider something a bit more rugged, like the Scorpio N Z8 4WD. First Spy Shots Of The Mahindra BE.05 Have Surfaced

The camouflaged test mule of the Mahindra BE.05 retains a lot of design elements from its concept version

  • Mahindra debuted the Mahindra BE.05 Concept in August 2022.

  • Smallest offering showcased from Mahindra’s new Born Electric line of models.

  • It will be based on the new INGLO modular platform that can support SUVs of various sizes.

  • It is expected to have a 60kWh battery pack which may offer a WLTP claimed range of over 300km.

  • Mahindra BE.05 could go on sale by the end of 2025.

It seems like the Mahindra BE.05 has already entered its development stage and the first spy shots of the test mule of the same have surfaced on the internet. The BE.05 will be based on Mahindra’s all new INGLO modular platform that can support multiple battery sizes and powertrains. Let’s have a look at the details we saw in these spy shots.

Design Similarities

Though the spied model is under heavy camouflage, it’s evident that it shares a lot of design elements from its concept version. Main highlights are the C-shaped LED DRLs which are a signature detail of the Mahindra Born Electric concepts showcased last year, including the sharp cuts on the hood.

From the side, it appears to be a pre-production version of the BE.05 with different alloy wheels to the concept housed in squared off wheel arches. Unlike the concept that featured camera-style ORVMs, this test mule wears traditional outside rearview mirrors mounted to the A-pillar.

Expected Features

Mahindra BE 05 interior

Based on the concept, the Mahindra BE.05 is expected to offer a driver-centric cabin with  premium upholstery. It featured a panoramic integrated screen setup (one for the infotainment and one for the driver), airplane-style handbrake and a squared off steering wheel with the BE logo in the middle. 

Expected Range And Powertrain

The new era of Mahindra BE EVs will share components like battery packs and motors with Volkswagen’s MEB platform. The BE.05 may use a 60kWh battery pack offering a WLTP claimed range of over 300km, which could be around 450km as per Indian testing standards. As per Mahindra, it should support 175kW DC fast charging which can charge the battery from 0-80 percent in 30 minutes.

The INGLO platform is capable of accommodating both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) systems, with outputs of up to 285PS and 394PS respectively. But since the BE.05  is a compact offering, it may get a lower state of tune at around 200PS.

Expected Launch And Rivals

Mahindra BE.05 is expected to be market-ready by the end of 2025, and likely to have a starting price of Rs 24 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. It will lock horns with the MG ZS EV, and the upcoming Tata Harrier EV and Hyundai Creta EV.

The BE.05 is one of five future EVs Mahindra has showcased so far and won’t be the first of them to launch. It is expected to come out after the all-electric version of the Mahindra XUV700 known as the XUV e8.
