Lucid Air Electric Saloon Heading to UK Market by 2025

American electric vehicle (EV) company Lucid plans to enter the UK market in approximately two years, once it completes development programs for new models.

Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson revealed at the LA motor show, where the company unveiled its new Gravity SUV, that the firm needs at least 18 months to prepare for right-hand drive production.

The increased demand for premium electric vehicles, such as the Lucid Air, in specific European markets is a primary motivator for Lucid. However, the company’s current focus is on bringing the Gravity SUV to production and developing subsequent models.

Rawlinson emphasized the significance of the German and UK markets, stating that they are significantly larger than any other country when it comes to luxury EVs. He outlined the challenges of preparing for right-hand drive production and the ongoing prioritization of the Gravity SUV’s development.

Additionally, he mentioned that Lucid’s mid-sized models are scheduled to be available by around 2027, with an estimated starting price of $50,000, and indicated that development is well underway for these models.

When questioned about the possibility of offering the Air in its left-hand-drive form in the UK, similar to Tesla’s approach with the Model S, Rawlinson dismissed the idea, citing low demand and high costs associated with implementing such a strategy. He expressed concern about meeting customer needs with such a limited market impact.

How To Install The Windows 11 Moment 4 Update (And What You’ll Get If You Do)

The newest update for Windows 11 comes with several noteworthy enhancements. One of the most significant additions is Copilot, an AI-powered assistive technology that can assist users with a variety of tasks, including writing paragraphs, editing images, playing music, summarizing web pages, and enabling dark mode. Copilot will be integrated into Microsoft’s Edge browser and will eventually become an integral part of Microsoft 365 products.

Microsoft Paint is also receiving a modern makeover in this update. It will now support layers for more advanced editing and will include a background removal system. Additionally, testers in the Insider program will have access to a text-to-image AI called Paint CoCreator.

The built-in Snipping Tool is now equipped with OCR (Optical Character Recognition) capabilities, allowing it to detect text in images. Users can easily extract or redact the text with the press of a button. Furthermore, the Snipping Tool has been enhanced with new recording tools, including the ability to capture audio through the microphone during screen recordings.

Another new feature is a backup app that syncs major PC preferences to the cloud. This includes details such as pinned apps and taskbar items, ensuring a seamless experience across devices. On the security front, the latest update introduces Passkey support with Windows Hello, allowing users to authenticate their identity for sign-ins using fingerprint sensors, face scans, or local PINs, eliminating the need to remember passwords.

Fisker Ronin: Powerful and Long-Range GT Supercar

Fisker is now accepting reservations for its upcoming all-electric supercar, the Fisker Ronin. This sleek convertible grand tourer is expected to be available in the second half of 2025 and boasts impressive features such as a range of 600 miles and over 1000bhp. The starting price for the Ronin is set at $385,000 in the US, equivalent to approximately £310,000, and only 999 units will be produced.

The Fisker Ronin made its debut at the company’s inaugural Product Vision event in California. With its four doors and five seats, this vehicle is aimed at those who desire cutting-edge electric technology. Henrik Fisker, the company’s CEO, describes the Ronin as “the ultimate long-distance grand touring car.”

Fisker also revealed that the Ronin will feature a triple-motor, all-wheel-drive configuration with a target power output exceeding 1000bhp and an impressive 0-62mph acceleration time of 2.0 seconds. The car will also incorporate active aerodynamics, although specific details have yet to be confirmed.

In terms of design, the Fisker Ronin shares similarities with other high-performance electric saloons like the Porsche Taycan and Mercedes-AMG EQS 53. Additionally, it will have visual connections to the Fisker Ocean SUV, which recently entered production in Austria.

The Fisker Ronin is expected to achieve a remarkable 600-mile range, setting a new record for production electric vehicles. This feat is made possible by an innovative method of drawing power from the integrated battery pack, the details of which have not been disclosed.

In a departure from the norm, the Ronin features a carbon fiber hardtop convertible roof instead of traditional cloth. It also boasts distinctive butterfly doors and 23-inch carbon fiber wheels. The interior showcases a luxurious and high-tech design, including a 17.1-inch high-resolution screen and several sustainable materials.

Fisker Ronin: Convertible GT with 1000bhp and 600-mile range

The Fisker Ronin, an electric car, is set to be released in 2025. It boasts a range of over 600 miles and close to 1000bhp power output, making it the world’s first convertible grand tourer.

During the Fisker Product Vision event in California, Henrik Fisker, the boss of Fisker, described the ultra-limited Ronin as “the EV for somebody who craves what’s next”. He believes it is in a category of its own and labeled it as “the ultimate long-distance grand touring car”.

Fisker aims to redefine the supercar of the future by creating a different driving experience and a new type of luxury. Visually, the Ronin shares similarities with sporting EV saloons like the Porsche Taycan and Mercedes-AMG EQS 53. It will also have visual connections to the Fisker Ocean SUV, which is currently in production in Austria.

The Ronin will be equipped with a triple-motor, all-wheel-drive system, targeting a power output just under 1000bhp and a 0-62mph time of 2.0 seconds. The company also plans to incorporate active aerodynamics, although specific details have not been confirmed.

Fisker envisions a targeted 600-mile range for the Ronin, which would set a new record for range in a production electric vehicle. This impressive range is made possible by a unique method of drawing power from a battery pack integrated into the chassis. However, the size of the battery pack has not been disclosed.

In terms of design, the Ronin breaks away from the traditional supercar trend. Instead of a cloth roof, it features a carbon-fiber hardtop for the convertible roof. The car is also equipped with four butterfly doors and promises to deliver a high-tech luxury interior.

Overall, Fisker aims to offer an exceptional driving experience with the Ronin, where the focus is on enjoying the journey rather than worrying about frequent stops for charging.

Fiat Panda Set to Return in 2024 as Affordable Electric SUV

The highly anticipated comeback of the Fiat Panda is scheduled for next year, and according to Autocar, it will be a crossover designed with a “less is more” approach to compete with the Dacia Sandero.

Olivier Francois, the CEO of Fiat, hinted that the car’s grand reveal, which he described as “very special” and surprising, would likely take place on July 11, 2024, coinciding with Fiat’s 125th anniversary. The design of the revived Panda is expected to draw inspiration from the Centoventi concept introduced in 2019, which showcased a futuristic Panda-like appearance.

During discussions about the company’s plans, Francois expressed the idea of creating another B-segment vehicle to accompany the electric Fiat 600. He emphasized that this new product would cater to the “essential” category and retain the simplicity and cleverness that characterized the original Panda.

The upcoming Fiat Panda will measure approximately four meters in length and embody a “simple clever” approach, reminiscent of its predecessor. Francois stated that the car, set to be unveiled next year, would be considered cool, popular, and affordable. This positioning would make it a direct competitor to the Dacia Sandero, priced at £13,000 in the UK, assuming Fiat decides to introduce a combustion version as well.

Nevertheless, an electric Panda is not expected to have a price lower than the Fiat 500 EV, which starts at £31,000. Francois also mentioned that the new Panda should appeal to global markets, including Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia, in addition to Europe. This indicates that the vehicle will likely share the CMP platform with the Jeep Avenger and the 600, allowing for both electric and combustion powertrains.

“We need something that perfectly suits European tastes but can also have a global appeal,” stated Francois. “And this is why I believe there is room for something in the B-segment other than the 600, which is very much focused on the European market.”
