German magazine Sport Auto conducts Supertests at the iconic Nürburgring Nordschleife. Recently, the Audi RS4 Avant Competition Plus had its chance to take on the famous track with experienced ‘Ring racer Christian Gebhardt behind the wheel.

The RS4 Avant Competition Plus completed the course in an impressive 7 minutes and 39.35 seconds. To put this achievement into perspective, back in 2012, Sport Auto managed to lap a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG around the ‘Ring in 7 minutes and 40 seconds. The high-performance grand tourer with its iconic gullwing doors was slightly slower than Audi’s new muscle wagon.

New Polestar 5 Prototype, Polestar 3 Make Dynamic Debuts At Goodwood

Polestar is showcasing a significant portion of its lineup at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, including two upcoming models.

The Polestar 3 electric SUV and the latest version of the Polestar 5 prototype will be unveiled in action at the event. They will be joined by the Polestar 2 BST edition 230 limited-run model in the First Glance Paddock. All three vehicles will make two runs up the hill every day during the event.

While the Polestar 3 and Polestar 2 BST edition 230 have already been introduced, the Polestar 5 flagship remains fully camouflaged, as this is currently the latest verification prototype. The production version is expected to launch in 2024.

These official photos provide a better view of the electric four-door GT prototype compared to the most recent spy shots of the Polestar 5. The images reveal the final production bodywork, which includes details such as sleekly designed front and rear bumpers, flush door handles, and a body panel in place of a rear window.

Update: Goodwood officials confirm no serious injuries resulting from this wayward wheel. The exact number of people affected hasn’t been revealed, but officials say they are back and “enjoying the event.”

During the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed, a classic Mk1 Jaguar experienced a frightening incident. After exiting the second turn early in the run, the car lost its left rear wheel. The wheel then bounced unexpectedly and flew into the crowd. Unconfirmed reports suggest that two people were struck.

According to witnesses at the event, the wheel hit an older man who was able to give a statement to officials before being taken away in an ambulance. Goodwood officials have not yet confirmed the number of people affected or the severity of any injuries. The racing action was paused for approximately 40 minutes due to the incident. It then resumed with the McLaren Artura leading a procession of supercars up the hill.

The Jaguar involved in the incident is a Mk1 Jaguar driven by Grant Williams, a seasoned Goodwood veteran and exhibition expert. It’s unclear what caused the wheel to detach; the run began with a burnout at the starting line to warm up the tires. Williams navigated the first turn with a controlled drift and slightly wobbled in the second turn, which is a common occurrence on the hill. In the video, the left rear wheel is seen wobbling before it comes off. The wheel then passes the car and bounces off the ground, landing on top of the hay bales. It bounces again, clears the fence, and lands in the crowd.

This isn’t the only notable incident that occurred on the first day of the Goodwood event. The Hyundai RN22e electric concept crashed heavily when the driver missed the infamous tight left-hander midway through the course. Although the occupants of the unique concept car were unharmed, it plowed straight through several rows of hay before coming to a stop. Visible damage suggests that the car suffered significant impact.

The extent of the damage to the RN22e is not yet known, but there are visible debris on the ground, hinting at some cosmetic damage. Hyundai has been contacted for more information about the condition of the car and its occupants.

Hot Wheels cars have always been a favorite among kids, often igniting a passion for automobiles. However, instead of buying a pre-made tiny Willys Jeep for just $1, one talented builder decided to take on the challenge of creating this classic SUV from scratch.

To construct this miniature Jeep, the builder starts by sawing PVC pipes in half, heating the pieces, and then flattening them using ceramic tiles. He carefully draws the rough shape of each part and cuts them out using small saws, files, hobby knives, and attachments for a rotary tool. To achieve complex shapes like the exhaust pipes, the builder uses a lighter to heat and bend the PVC pieces. The attention to detail is impressive, with ignition wires, an accessory belt, and even a turning fan.

The builder goes on to create a separate body and ladder frame, just like a real Jeep. Adding a cool touch, he incorporates a functional leaf spring suspension. The wheels are made by wrapping rubber around circular plastic pieces, and the windshield is designed to tilt down.

Once the construction is complete, the next step is painting the vehicle. Using an airbrush, the builder applies a green color to the body and paints the frame black. For the smaller parts, he uses a brush for detailed painting. To truly bring the model to life, the builder even crafts accessories such as a shovel, an axe, and a gas can.

The end result is a miniature Jeep that is far more detailed than any store-bought Hot Wheels car. However, it’s important to note that creating such an intricate model requires hours of dedicated work.

MG EX4 Hot EV Revealed On Twitter Before Goodwood Debut

MG Motor, a British-based, Chinese-owned automaker, has unveiled the EX4 all-electric hot hatch concept on Twitter. The car will make its official debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend.

The EX4 concept is based on the road-going MG4 XPower, which is equipped with a dual-motor setup delivering 429 horsepower and up to 442 pound-feet of torque. Although MG has not revealed the specs of the concept car, they have confirmed that both the street-legal MG4 XPower and the upcoming Cyberster electric roadster will be showcased at Goodwood alongside the EV hot hatch.

With its massive front splitter, enlarged wheel arches, green spoiler, and full-width diffuser, the EX4 concept is a tribute to the Metro 6R4 Group B rally car from the 1980s. The Metro 6R4 was known for its central-mounted 3.0-liter V6 engine producing up to 410 horsepower and powering all four wheels through a five-speed manual transmission.

The interior of the EX4 has not been revealed in the video, so there are still some surprises to look forward to at Goodwood.

The original Metro had success in rallycross events, and the standard Metro was a popular car in the UK between 1980 and 1997, selling approximately 1.5 million units.

Although it is unlikely that a road-legal version of the all-electric MG EX4 will be released due to safety concerns, it is exciting to see the British brand paying homage to its past in a modern way.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N has made its official debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. This new model represents N’s first foray into the world of high-performance electric cars, and it won’t be their last. Hyundai has big plans for its N sub-brand and sees the hot Ioniq 5 as the first step in its electrification strategy.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is equipped with two electric motors, resulting in a total output of 600 horsepower (448 kilowatts) and 545 pound-feet (740 Newton-meters) of torque. It’s worth noting that these numbers may change slightly before production begins. However, with the N Grin Boost function engaged, the power increases to an impressive 641 hp (478 kW) and 567 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque. The N Grin Boost function is a temporary boost that lasts for 10 seconds.
