Hyundai Venue Becomes the First Sub-4m SUV to Offer ADAS

Hyundai Venue’s Turbo-Petrol Variants Now Come with Manual Transmission

Hyundai Venue

The subcompact SUV segment is witnessing increased competition with the introduction of the 2023 Tata Nexon. In response, Hyundai has updated its Venue and Venue N Line models to offer advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Additionally, Hyundai has made changes to the transmission options for the turbo-petrol variants of both models.

Updated Prices

The new ADAS technology is available only in the top-spec SX(O) variant of the Hyundai Venue and the N8 variant of the Venue N Line. Notably, the Knight edition of the Venue does not have these safety assistance systems. Here are the revised prices for the ADAS-equipped models:

The Hyundai Venue is not only the first subcompact SUV to offer ADAS technology but also the most affordable model with such features (up to Rs 15,000 cheaper than the starting ADAS-equipped variant of the Honda City). Let’s see how Hyundai has equipped its sub-4m offering to compete with its segment rivals, including the updated Nexon.

Venue ADAS Kit

The driver assistance systems in the Venue include features such as forward collision warning (for car, pedestrian, and cyclist), lane keep assist and departure warning, driver attention warning, high-beam assist, lane following assist, and leading vehicle lane departure alert.

However, the Venue’s ADAS suite does not include automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control, indicating that it adheres to ADAS Level 1 technology.

The Venue also offers other safety features, such as up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors, and hill-hold assist.

Powertrain Update

Hyundai Venue

Hyundai has discontinued the intelligent manual transmission (iMT) option for the 1-litre turbo-petrol variants (120PS and 172Nm) of the Venue and Venue N Line. Instead, these models now come with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the 7-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) option remains available. As a result of this change, the turbo-petrol variants have become more affordable for certain Venue models, and the Venue N Line has become more accessible overall.

This new transmission option has made the Venue N Line more affordable by up to Rs 80,000. The Venue N Line is Hyundai’s sportier version with the 1-litre turbo-petrol engine.

The regular Venue offers other engine options, including a 1.2-litre petrol engine (83PS and 114Nm) mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine (116PS and 250Nm) paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The top-spec SX(O) variant of the Venue does not offer the naturally aspirated petrol engine option.

Rivals

The Hyundai Venue competes with the Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon facelift, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite. The Venue N Line, on the other hand, competes with the Turbo Sport variants of the Mahindra XUV300.

Mercedes-Benz Concept CLA-Class Revealed With EQXX Tech, 466-Mile WLTP Range

Generally speaking, whenever a vehicle is offered in both internal-combustion and all-electric variants, the EV version can be a bit compromised. Mercedes-Benz is flipping the script, however, with the Concept CLA-Class, revealed in Munich at IAA 2023 to preview the company’s new, electric-first compact car platform.

Based on the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA), the Concept CLA-Class boasts slippery styling, sustainable interior materials, and a company-estimated range of 466 miles on the optimistic WLTP scale. And although powertrain and battery details are scarce, the automaker says the CLA takes inspiration from the Vision EQXX concept for both its electric motors and dash-spanning Superscreen infotainment system.
