It is worth noting that the Invicto misses out on the black paint shades offered with the Innova Hycross.

Powertrain

Maruti Invicto Strong Hybrid Powertrain

The Maruti Invicto gets the same 2-litre strong-hybrid petrol engine powertrain as the Toyota Innova Hycross which produces 186PS and 206Nm of torque, paired with an eCVT gearbox. It is the only engine option for the Invicto unlike the Hycross which offers a choice of a 174PS 2-litre petrol engine as well. The Maruti MPV, like the Toyota one, comes with a front-wheel drivetrain.

Features & Safety

Maruti Invicto Cabin

Its features list is also similar to the Hycross. The Invicto comes with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 7-inch digital driver’s display, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof.

## The hybrid-only Maruti Invicto MPV undercuts the hybrid variants of the Innova Hycross, but that’s just a part of the bigger picture

[![Maruti Invicto vs Toyota Innova Hycross vs Kia Carens](https://stimg.cardekho.com/images/cms/carnewsimages/editorimages/64a624f12d1b6.jpg)](https://stimg.cardekho.com/images/cms/carnewsimages/editorimages/64a624f12d1b6.jpg)

The Toyota Innova Hycross-based [Maruti Invicto](https://www.cardekho.com/maruti/invicto) has been launched with prices starting from Rs 24.79 lakh (introductory ex-showroom pan-India). It has become Maruti’s new flagship model while sitting atop the XL6 in its MPV lineup, and is offered via the carmaker’s Nexa line of showrooms.

In this story, let’s see how its prices compare to those of its MPV rivals and alternatives:

## Petrol-auto

| Maruti Invicto | Toyota Innova Hycross | Kia Carens |
|—————-|———————–|————|
| G (7-seater)/ G (8-seater) – Rs 18.82 lakh/ Rs 18.87 lakh* | Luxury Plus Turbo DCT (6-seater)/ Luxury Plus Turbo DCT (7-seater)- Rs 18.40 lakh/ Rs 18.45 lakh | – |
| GX (7-seater)/ GX (8-seater) – Rs 19.67 lakh/ Rs 19.72 lakh | – | – |
| Zeta+ (7-seater)/ Zeta+ (8-seater) – Rs 24.79 lakh/ Rs 24.84 lakh | VX Hybrid (7-seater)/ VX Hybrid (8-seater) – Rs 25.30 lakh/ Rs 25.35 lakh | – |
| VX (O) Hybrid (7-seater)/ VX (O) Hybrid (8-seater) – Rs 27.27 lakh/ Rs 27.32 lakh | – | – |
| Alpha+ (7-seater) – Rs 28.42 lakh | – | – |
| – | – | – |
| ZX Hybrid (7-seater) – Rs 29.62 lakh | – | – |
| – | – | – |
| ZX (O) Hybrid (7-seater) – Rs 30.26 lakh | – | – |

*The G variant is only available for fleet operators.

[![Maruti Invicto hybrid powertrain](https://stimg.cardekho.com/images/cms/carnewsimages/editorimages/64a556734604b.jpg)](https://stimg.cardekho.com/images/cms/carnewsimages/editorimages/64a556734604b.jpg)

The Maruti Invicto has the highest entry point pricing here, but that’s because it’s only available with the 2-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain. Meanwhile, its donor model, the Innova Hycross has a more affordable entry variant by a margin of around Rs 5 lakh, the GX, which comes without any electrification and offers fewer features too.

[![Maruti Invicto](https://stimg.cardekho.com/images/cms/carnewsimages/editorimages/64a5542d34c68.jpg)](https://stimg.cardekho.com/images/cms/carnewsimages/editorimages/64a5542d34c68.jpg)

Also, the Invicto is only offered in two variants – Zeta+ and Alpha+. Both are fairly well equipped and are closest to the Hycross’ VX and ZX hybrid variants respectively in terms of features. However, in those comparable variants, the Maruti MPV is more affordable.

The Invicto Zeta+ costs Rs 49,000 less than the Hycross VX Hybrid while the Alpha+ undercuts the ZX Hybrid by Rs 1.2 lakh. There is a good reason for the price gap between them, as the Maruti MPV does not get the exact same feature list as those variants and misses out on some features and comforts in each comparison.

Both the Invicto and Innova Hycross’ hybrid variants get a 186PS (combined) 2-litre strong-hybrid powertrain, paired with an e-CVT. It offers a claimed mileage of 23.34kmpl.

Understandably, the [Kia Carens](https://www.cardekho.com/kia/carens) is the most affordable option on this list as the Invicto and Innova Hycross are a segment above in terms of size, design and performance. Even in its fully-loaded specification with the new 160PS turbo-petrol engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, the Kia MPV is more affordable than the entry-level Invicto by around Rs 6.3 lakh.

The entry-level [Toyota Innova Hycross](https://www.cardekho.com/toyota/innova-hycross) with only its naturally-aspirated 2-litre petrol engine is also pricier by over Rs 1 lakh and offers just the bare-minimum feature comforts. Only the Hycross G variant is priced close to the top-spec Carens, but Toyota sells that exclusively to fleet buyers.

The Kia MPV also has two other powertrain options – the 115PS 1.5-litre naturally aspirated unit that powers the most affordable variants, and the other is a 115PS 1.5-litre diesel engine. All of the Caren’s engines get their own choice of automatic transmission, while the turbo-petrol and diesel engines come with 6-speed iMT (manual without clutch pedal) as standard.

[![Toyota Innova Hycross ottoman functionality for the captain seats](https://stimg.cardekho.com/images/cms/carnewsimages/editorimages/638edefc09223.jpg)](https://stimg.cardekho.com/images/cms/carnewsimages/editorimages/638edefc09223.jpg)

Being the premium offering of the two, the Innova Hycross has certain feature advantages over the Maruti such as ottoman functionality for the captain seats, JBL sound system, 18-inch alloy wheels, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

However, if you’re in the market for a good old diesel MPV, you can also look at the Toyota Innova Crysta which is priced from Rs 19.38 lakh to Rs 25.68 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). But, it’s only available with a manual transmission and doesn’t offer any of the premium comforts seen on the Invicto and Innova Hycross.

Prices And Competition

Maruti has priced the Invicto between Rs 24.79 lakh and Rs 28.42 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Its only direct rival is the Toyota Innova Hycross, and it’s also being positioned as a premium alternative to the Kia Carens.

Similar to the Hycross

Maruti Invicto Teaser

The Invicto is based on the Toyota Innova Hycross, another product from their global partnership. Based on the spy shots and teasers, the Maruti MPV will closely resemble Toyota’s MPV, with some minor design changes at the front and rear. Maruti has already revealed the split chrome grille on the front of the Invicto in an official teaser.

Inside, the Invicto will have the same dashboard layout as the Toyota MPV but with a different dark shade upholstery instead of the brown upholstery in the Hycross.

Loaded with Premium Features

Toyota Innova Hycross Interior

Similar to the Hycross, the Invicto will have a wide range of features, many of which will be introduced for the first time by Maruti. These amenities include a panoramic sunroof, digital driver’s display, dual-zone AC, ventilated front seats, and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Safety will be ensured with six airbags, a 360-degree camera, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features like lane-keep and departure assist, adaptive cruise control, and auto-emergency braking.

New Strong-Hybrid Powertrain

Toyota Innova Hycross

The Invicto is expected to feature the Hycross’s strong-hybrid powertrain, which is the first of its kind from Maruti. This powertrain includes a new 2-litre petrol engine not seen in any other Maruti model. The Toyota petrol-hybrid delivers a combined output of 186PS and 206Nm of torque, paired with an e-CVT automatic transmission.

Expected Price and Competitors

Since the Maruti Invicto is likely to be offered in a single fully loaded variant at launch, it could be priced around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). It will directly compete with the Toyota Innova Hycross while providing a premium alternative to the Kia Carens.

Toyota Innova Hycross Waiting Period Stretches Up To Twice That Of The Innova Crysta This July

In a few cities, the strong-hybrid MPV can make you wait over a year before delivery

The Toyota Innova Hycross entered the Indian market last year as a more premium MPV than the Innova Crysta. Both MPVs have different underpinnings, their own sets of powertrains on offer, and distinct designs. While the diesel-only Crysta remains popular and attracts a somewhat high waiting period, the better-equipped Hycross with its petrol and hybrid powertrains is commanding delivery times of over a year this July.

Toyota Innova Crysta

First Look At Maruti Invicto’s Cabin Shows Clear Look At The Changes Over Hycross

The Innova Hycross-based MPV will be Maruti’s flagship model when it launched on July 5

Maruti Invicto Cabin

  • The spy shot shows the presence of a sunroof.

  • Gets the same cabin as the Innova Hycross but with a black colour scheme.

  • Likely to be offered only with a strong hybrid powertrain.

  • Expected to be priced over Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).

Maruti has been teasing their upcoming MPV, the Maruti Invicto, for a while and the strong hybrid MPV has also been spotted undisguised before. Now, for the first time, images of its cabin have emerged online and we can have a clear look at what the Innova Hycross-based Invicto has to offer.

What We See

Since the Invicto is based on the Innova Hycross, their cabin design and layout are nearly identical. Just like the Hycross, the Invicto gets a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the same design for the center console and dashboard. Even the design and positioning of the AC vents are the same and even the steering wheel save for the Suzuki logo.

Maruti Invicto Center Console

But in the Invicto, changes can be seen in the colour scheme. While the Hycross gets a black and brown dual-tone cabin with silver elements on the doors, AC vents and center console, the Invicto, on the other hand, gets an all-black cabin with champagne colour elements replacing the silver ones.

Maruti Invicto Sunroof

Also, in this spied unit, a sunroof is clearly visible from the inside.

Powertrain

Toyota Innova Hycross strong-hybrid powertrain

As per some reports and dealer sources, the Invicto will likely be offered only in a strong hybrid version with a 186PS, 2-litre petrol engine mated to an eCVT gearbox. The 2-litre non-hybrid petrol engine (174PS and 205Nm) with a CVT gearbox could be skipped.

Features and Safety

Maruti Invicto Front

From this sighting and a previous teaser, it is confirmed that the Invicto will get a powered driver seat with memory function and ventilated front seats. It will also get features like a digital driver’s display, wireless phone charging, dual zone climate control, six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and a suite of ADAS features like lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking.

Price and Rivals

Maruti Invicto Rear

Maruti will launch the Invicto on July 5 and we expect it to be priced over Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be a rival to the Toyota Innova Hycross and will also act as a premium alternative to the Kia Carens, Mahindra Marazzo and Toyota Innova Crysta.

Toyota Innova Hycross Enters Malaysia As Innova Zenix

The Malaysian-spec Toyota Innova Zenix gets the same powertrains as the India-spec Toyota Innova Hycross

Toyota Innova Zenix

  • The Innova Zenix is offered in only one feature-rich variant.

  • Gets the same design inside and out, save for an all-black cabin theme.

  • Features on board include a 10-inch touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof (hybrid only) and ADAS.

  • Prices range from RM 165,000 to RM 202,000, equivalent to Rs 28.96 lakh and Rs 35.45 lakh.

  • India-spec Innova Hycross is priced from Rs 18.55 lakh to Rs 29.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Six months after entering the Indian market, the Toyota Innova Hycross has made its way into Malaysia, although rebranded as the “Innova Zenix.” While it has retained the powertrain options found in its Indian counterpart, Malaysian buyers are treated to a fully loaded variant. Here are the variant-wise prices of the MPV in the Southeast Asian nation:

Variant

Price

Petrol

RM 165,000 (Rs 28.96 lakh)

Strong-hybrid

RM 202,000 (Rs 35.45 lakh)

Same Design Formula

The Malaysian-spec Innova Zenix has the same design language inside and out as its Indian counterpart, including the same 18-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting, and honeycomb pattern for the grille. That said, it gets an all-black cabin theme, which we expect to find in the upcoming Maruti Invicto.

The Malaysian-spec petrol-powered Toyota MPV is available in an 8-seater layout while the hybrid variant can be had in only the 7-seater version.

A Similar Features List

Toyota is offering the Malaysia-spec Innova with a 10-inch touchscreen, 8-way powered driver seat, panoramic sunroof (hybrid variant only), a 7-inch digital driver’s display, and paddle shifters.

Safety kit includes a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, six airbags, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The ADAS suite consists of adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and lane departure assist.

The India-spec Innova Hycross offers all the kit mentioned above in its top variant too.

Identical Powertrains

As mentioned earlier, the Malaysia-spec model also gets the choice of two petrol powertrains as the India-spec Innova Hycross. They are a 174PS 2-litre naturally aspirated unit, and a similar engine with the strong hybrid system rated at 186PS. The former gets a CVT option, and the latter comes with an e-CVT gearbox.

Premium Innova MPV At Home

Toyota Innova Zenix rear

The India-spec Toyota Innova Hycross is available in six broad variants, priced between Rs 18.55 lakh and Rs 29.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Maruti Invicto’s Clearest Images Yet Surface Online Ahead Of Launch

The Maruti Invicto will share its features and powertrain with the Toyota Innova Hycross

Maruti Invicto spied

  • Based on the Innova Hycross, the Maruti Invicto has some visual differences.

  • Maruti is accepting bookings for the MPV for Rs 25,000.

  • New images reveal a revised grille with chrome slabs, tri-piece LED elements in the taillights, and different alloy wheels. The variant badge on the tailgate is missing.

  • The interior of the Maruti Invicto will have a black theme instead of the tan upholstery found in the Toyota MPV.

  • The Maruti Invicto is expected to come with a 2-liter strong-hybrid powertrain.

  • Features that are expected to be included are a 10-inch touchscreen, dual-zone AC, and a 360-degree camera.

We are just 10 days away from the launch of the Maruti Invicto, which is based on the Toyota Innova Hycross. Bookings for the MPV are currently open for Rs 25,000, and the launch is scheduled for July 5. Before the price announcement, the uncamouflaged model of the premium Maruti MPV has been spotted again, providing a clearer look at its design.

Any Visual Changes?

The Maruti MPV, which was spotted in a white shade, shares a similar design to the Innova Hycross, with the main difference being the tweaked grille. The Invicto now features twin chrome slats and a thick chrome underlining. The spotted model seems to be a lower variant of the Invicto as it lacks fog lamps and a panoramic sunroof, which are available on the top-spec Innova Hycross.

Maruti Invicto rear spied

The Invicto also comes with a different set of alloy wheels, while the overall profile remains the same. At the back, the LED taillights feature a tri-piece element, similar to other modern Nexa offerings. Apart from the inclusion of the ‘Invicto’ moniker, the rest of the rear profile remains unchanged. The Invicto also lacks the variant badge that is found on its Toyota sibling.

Differences Inside The Cabin

Maruti Invicto seats

As is typical of Maruti Nexa cars, the Invicto will have an all-black cabin theme (confirmed in one of its latest teasers). We don’t expect any other changes between the interiors of the two MPVs.

Maruti is also expected to include features from the Hycross, such as a dual-zone climate control, a 10-inch touchscreen, a digital driver’s display, and an ottoman function for the second-row captain seats.

In terms of safety, the Invicto is expected to have up to six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera. However, the spied Invicto model does not seem to have ADAS (advanced driver assist systems) like its Toyota counterpart.

Also See: Maruti Suzuki eVX Electric SUV Testing Begins, Interior Details Seen Too

Strong-hybrid Only

If reports and dealer sources are correct, the Invicto will only be offered with the 184PS 2-liter strong-hybrid powertrain from the Innova Hycross. It will come with an e-CVT gearbox and offer a claimed mileage of 21.1kmpl.

However, this sighting contradicts an earlier report that stated the Maruti Invicto would be offered as a single fully loaded variant for booking. It is possible that the rebadged MPV will simply rearrange the equipment list from the Toyota MPV to lower its price.

Prices And Rivals

Maruti Invicto teaser

If the Invicto is offered as a hybrid-only model, Maruti is expected to price it starting from Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom). Its direct competitor will be the Toyota Innova Hycross, while it will be positioned higher than the Maruti XL6 and Kia Carens in the MPV category.
